- Mar 24 - Oman seeks 60,000 tons of milling wheat (12.5% protein) from Russia or Germany for Jul-Augshipment

- Bangladesh reissued two tenders to import a total of 100,000 tons of wheat. The closing date for both the tenders is April 8

- Syria seeks 150,000 tons of milling soft wheat on c&f basis in euros for shipments of some 75,000 tons a month immediately after the opening of a letter of credit for the purchase. The tender deadline is April 13. The offers in the tender have to remain valid for a very long period of 20 days after submission

- Mar 19 - Japan bought 98,257 tons of food wheat for April – May shipment:

  • 20,293 tons of western white US wheat
  • 25,015 tons of hard red winter US wheat
  • 22,203 tons of dark northern spring US wheat
  • 30,746 tons of Canadian western red spring wheat

- China bought 450,000 tons high-protein wheat (300,000 tons of Canadian and 150,000 tons of Australian wheat with shipment from May 2015) over the last week, with more imports expected due to a domestic shortage of high quality grades. China's 2015 wheat imports could hit more than 2 MMT

- China sold 8,8% of the 20,492 tons of US soft red winter (SRW) and 34% of the more than 800,000 tons of domestic wheat offered from state reserves in auction last week. State granaries in the south province of Zhejiang will offer a total of 25,758 tons of Australian wheat (2010 and 2011 harvests) from state reserves at a weekly sale this week

- Informa Economics projected US all-wheat seedings at 55.953 million acres, including 40.872 million acres of winter wheat, 13.116 million of spring wheat other than durum, and 1.965 million acres or durum wheat

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Mar 12 – 534,800 tons (391,900 for 2014/15 and 142,900 for 2015/16) within analyst expectations

- Russia's Ag Min said farmers planted 663,100 hectares of spring crops through March 23, or 1.3% of the planned total planted area vs. 396,400 hectares a year ago

- Russia's AgMin says may raise 2015 grain crop

- Russian grain stocks at 26.1 MMT as of Mar 1, up 15.1% from a year earlier

- Russia's government has approved the allocation of 305,000 tons of state grain stocks to the city of Moscow, incl. up to 250,000 tons of wheat

- Russia Ag Min said Russia exported about 25.579 MMT of grain between July 1 – Mar 18, 2014/15, including wheat – 19.299 MMT, barley – 4.145 MMT, corn – 1.752 MMT

- SovEcon expected Russia's March grain exports, including flour and pulses, at 1.5 - 1.6 MMT (incl. 600,000 tons of wheat) vs. 1.3 MMT (incl. 447,000 tons of wheat) in February

- SovEcon estimated Russia's 2014/15 grain exports at 30 MMT, incl. up to 21.5 MMT of wheat, up to 5.3 MMT of barley and about 3 MMT of corn

- Egypt is in talks with the EBRD and the FAO on reducing its wheat import costs by up to $10 per ton

- EU in week ended March 13 awarded licences to import almost 7,468 tons of Ukrainian wheat under an annual duty-free quota. The award meant that the EU had now awarded almost 316,905 tons out of a total volume of 950,000 tons available in 2015

- EU in week ended March 17 granted licences to export 780 MMT of soft wheat bringing the total this season to 23.702 MMT vs. 21.866 MMT a year ago
