WHEAT
- Feb 17 - Syria's Hoboob seeks 200,000 MT of soft wheat from Russia
- Feb 4 - Jordan seeks 120,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat
- Jan 30 - Egypt’s GASC seeks an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for March 11-25 shipment. Glencore made the lowest offer of 231.5 $/mt fob for 60,000 MT of French wheat
- Jan 28 - Jordan bought 60,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat from Cerealcom Dolj at 226.4 $/mt c&f for the first half of August shipment
- Russia's agriculture ministry plans to set up quota on grain exports each marketing season which lasts from July 1 to June 30
- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) lowered its wheat production estimate for 2019 to 1.502 MMT from 1.599 MMT previously, down 19.6% from the previous season’s crop of 1.868 MMT
- SAGIS estimated S. Africa's December wheat imports at 7,725 MT vs. 145,149 MT in November. Oct-Dec 2019 imports rose 204.4% on year to 437,605 MT (143,754 MT in Oct-Dec 2018)
CORN
- Jan 31 - Tunisia's state grains agency seeks 75,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley
- Jan 30 - Algeria's ONAB seeks 50,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley for February 16-29 shipment. The offers must remain valid until January 31
- Two South Korean buyers purchased a total of about 133,000 MT of optional-origin corn in private deals:
- Major Feedmill Group (MFG) purchased 68,000 MT from ADM at 214.99 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for May 1 arrival;
- Feed Leaders' Committee (FLC) purchased 65,000 MT from CHS at 216.74 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for April 15 arrival
- Jan 28 - USDA announced export sales of 124,355 MT of US corn for delivery to Mexico during the 2019/20
- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) estimated corn plantings this year at 2.535 million hectares, in line with market expectations, 10.2% more than the 2.301 million ha planted for the previous season
- SAGIS estimated South Africa's corn stocks as of December 31 were at 4.895 MMT vs. 6.065 MMT a year ago
- SAGIS estimated S. Africa’s December corn imports at 64,732 MT; May-Dec 2019 imports totals 423,893 MT (zero in May-Dec 2018)
- SAGIS estimated S. Africa's December corn exports at 107,325 MT; May-Dec 2019 exports totals 929,519 MT down 50.6% on year (1.882 MMT in May-Dec 2018)
SOYBEAN
- Jan 29 - Algeria's ONAB was seeking 35,000 MT of optional-origin soymeal for shipment at the latest by March 15
- Indonesia will tax crude palm oil exports from February for the first time in nearly three years. The country will impose an export tax of 18 $/mt as reference prices have increased 15.1% from 729.7 $/mt in January to 839.7 $/mt in February
