- Jan 28 - Jordan seeks 120,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat for August-September shipment

- Jan 23 - Japan seeks 108,296 MT of food wheat for Feb-Mar shipments:

  • 19,617 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 30,350 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 32,725 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 25,604 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;

- Jan 21 - Jordan bought 60,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat from Agro Chirnogi at 229.9 $/mt c&f for the second half of July shipment

- Jan 21 - Algeria's OAIC bought about 400,000-450,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat at around 244-246 $/mt c&f for March shipment

- Jan 20 - Syria's Hoboob has cancelled an international tender to buy 200,000 MT of Russian soft wheat without a purchase being made

- Egypt is studying the addition of Indian wheat as an acceptable origin for its international import tenders

- Preliminary official data showed that Russia harvested 120.67 MMT of grain by clean weight in 2019, up from 113.25 MMT in 2018. The wheat harvest totaled 74.33 MMT in 2019, up from 72.14 MMT the previous year

- China imported about 500,000 MT of wheat in December, up 111% from the year before. China's wheat imports for all of 2019 rose by 12.5% on year to 3.49 MMT

CORN

- Jan 24 - Saudi Arabia’s SAGO seeks 900,000 MT of feed barley in 15 consignments for March-April shipment

- Jan 23 - Algeria's ONAB seeks 20,000 MT of optional-origin corn for March 1-15 shipment. The lowest offer was 212.25 $/mt c&f for Ukrainian or EU-origin

- Jan 23 - USDA announced export sales of 284,948 MT of US corn:

  • 141,000 MT for delivery to unknown destinations during the 2019/20;
  • 143,948 MT for delivery to Guatemala during the 2019/20 (114,224 MT) and 2020/21 (29,724 MT)

- Jan 22 - South Korea's Nonghyup Feed Inc. (NOFI) bought 134,000 MT of optional-origin corn:

  • 69,000 MT from Cargill at 219.55 $/mt c&f for April 20 arrival;
  • 65,000 MT from CHS at 218.88 $/mt c&f for May 1 arrival

- Jan 22 - Japan received no offers for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley in a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction. New SBS tender for the same amounts for each grain will be held on Jan 29

- Jan 17 - South Korea's Major Feedmill Group (MFG) in a private deal purchased 69,000 MT of corn, probably from South America, from ADM at 217.9 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for May 20 arrival

- Preliminary official data showed that Russia harvested 13.93 MMT of corn by clean weight in 2019, up from 11.42 MMT in 2018. Barley crop in 2019 raised to 20.46 MMT from 17 MMT in 2018, while peas crop totalled 2.36 MMT vs. 2.3 MMT in 2018

- China's corn imports in December came to 730,000 MT, down 76% from the same month of 2018. Full-year 2019 imports were up 36% at 4.79 MMT

- China imported about 40,000 MT of sorghum in December, compared with zero a year earlier. China's imports for 2019 fell to 830,000 MT, down 77% on the year

- China imported 240,000 MT of barley in December, up 67% from the year before. China's barley imports for all of 2019 fell by 13% on year to 5.93 MMT

- IGC upped its forecast of the global corn crop in 2019/20 by 8.5 MMT to 1.111 billion tones (1.129 BMT in 2018/19), driven mainly by upward revisions for China and the US

SOYBEAN

- Jan 23 - Algeria's ONAB seeks 30,000 MT of optional-origin soymeal for February 10-25 shipment. The lowest offer was 394.50 $/mt c&f for soymeal from Argentina or the US

- Jan 22- Egypt's GASC bought 41,000 MT of sunflower oil and 60,000 MT of soybean oil for March 3-17 arrival:

  • 30,000 MT of soybean oil from Hakan Agro at 878.69 $/mt c&f;
  • 30,000 MT of soybean oil from ADM at 878.69 $/mt c&f;
  • 18,000 MT of sunflower oil from ADM at 802 $/mt c&f;
  • 12,000 MT of sunflower oil from Hakan Agro at 806 $/mt c&f;
  • 11,000 MT of sunflower oil from Tradefield/Yug Rusi at 806 $/mt c&f

- Preliminary official data showed that Russia harvested a record 4.63 MMT of soybeans by clean weight in 2019 (4.33 MMT in 2018), and a record sunflower output at 16 MMT (13.55 MMT). Rapeseed crop rose to 2.31 MMT from 2.22 MMT in 2018    

- Russia produced 5.3 MMT of sunflower oil during full-2019, up 19.2% from previous year
