WHEAT

- Dec 25 - Japan bought 23,048 MT of feed wheat for March 12 arrival via SBS-tender

- Iran has reportedly bought up to a million tonnes of wheat in recent weeks, likely from Russia, the Black Sea Region, and various EU countries

- Dec 19 - Taiwan Flour Millers' Association bought 104,600 MT of US milling wheat from CHS in two consignments:

  • The first consignment has an additional charge of 30.89 $/mt for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan for shipment between Feb 7-21:
    • 29,200 MT of dark northern spring wheat (14.5% protein) at 265.95 $/mt fob;
    • 17,675 MT of hard red winter wheat (12.5% protein) at 237.83 $/mt fob;
    • 6,275 MT of soft white wheat (9% protein) at 230.80 $/mt fob.
  • The second consignment has an additional charge of 31.05 $/mt for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan for shipment between Feb 23-Mar 8:
    • 27,550 MT of dark northern spring wheat (14.5% protein) at 265.95 $/mt fob;
    • 17,800 MT of hard red winter wheat (12.5% protein) at 239.68 $/mt fob;
    • 6,100 MT of soft white wheat (9% protein) at 230.80 $/mt fob

- Dec 18 - The lowest offer in Ethiopian tender for 75,000 MT of optional-origin wheat came in from Promising at about 310 $/mt c&f, including transport to an inland destination

- Feed mills in the Philippines last week bought 40,000 MT of feed wheat from Australia (ASW) at 280 $/mt c&f for January-February shipment

- Ukrainian grain stocks were at 30.605 MMT as of December 1, down 10.5% from a year earlier, incl. 8.093 MMT of wheat (8.739 MMT a year ago), 2.167 MMT of barley (1.639 MMT a year ago) and 19.183 MMT of corn (22.655 MMT a year ago). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) lowered its wheat production estimate for 2019 to 1.599 MMT from 1.618 MMT previously, down 14.4% from the previous season’s crop of 1.868 MMT

- UK’s Ag Min estimated 2019 wheat harvest for the UK at 16.225 MMT, a 19.7% growth on year (13.555 MMT in 2018)

CORN

- Dec 23 - South Korea's Major Feedmill Group (MFG) in a private deal purchased 66,000 MT of option-origin corn from Cargill at 209.74 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for April 1 arrival

- UK’s Ag Min estimated 2019 barley harvest for the UK at 8.048 MMT, a 23.6% growth on year (6.51 MMT in 2018)

SOYBEAN

- Dec 26 - Egypt’s GASC bought 34,450 MT of local soybean oil at 12,780 EGP/mt (796 $/mt) from Alexseeds (23 TMT), Watanya/Cargill (8 TMT) and Uccma (3.45 TMT) for Feb 1-15 arrival

- Dec 23 - USDA announced export sales of 126,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2019/20

- Dec 20 - South Korea's Nonghyup Feed Inc. (NOFI) has purchased about 60,000 MT of optional-origin soymeal from Bunge at 359 $/mt c&f for July 10, 2020 arrival

- Dec 19 - USDA announced export sales of 126,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2019/20

- Ukrainian sunflower stocks were at 8.025 MMT as of December 1, up 3.2% from a year earlier (7.778 MMT). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- UK’s Ag Min estimates 2019 rapeseed harvest for the UK at a 15-year low of 1.752 MMT, down 12.9% on year (2.012 MMT in 2018)
