WHEAT

- Dec 18 - Syria's Hoboob seeks 150,000 MT of soft wheat from Russia for shipping within 45 days of the confirmation of the order

- Nov 27 - Jordan seeks 120,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat for March-April shipment

- Nov 20 - Algeria's OAIC bought about 540,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat at around 223-224 $/mt c&f from Cargill, Casillo, Glencore, and Lecureur for January shipment

- Algeria is targeting a sharp reduction to its wheat imports. Algeria has decided to cap soft wheat imports at 4 MMT a year, down from 6.2 MMT

- Nov 20 - Jordan bought 60,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat from Ameropa at 238 $/mt c&f for the second half of February 2020 shipment

- Oct 30 - Bangladesh bought 50,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat from Swiss Singapore Overseas at 268.14 $/mt CIF liner out for shipping within 40 days of the signing of the contract

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Nov 14 totaled 437,700 MT for 2019/20, within market expectations (200-500 TMT). Export commitments for 2019/20 are running 7% ahead of year-ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported about 23.128 MMT of grain between July 1-Nov 22, 2019 vs. 16.954 MMT for the same period of last year, including 12.9 MMT of wheat (8.889 MMT a year ago), 6.469 MMT of corn (4.716 MMT) and 3.453 MMT of barley (3.003 MMT)

- Ukrainian farms have sown as of Nov 22 a total of 6.95 million hectares of winter grains for the 2019 harvest, or 95.6% of the expected area of 7.3 million, incl. 5.919 million hectares of winter wheat and 908,100 hectares of winter barley

- FranceAgriMer estimated winter wheat planting 74% done as of Nov 18, behind of last year’s pace of 97%. The condition of soft wheat crops sown for next year's harvest fell sharply last week. An estimated 78% of soft wheat was rated good or excellent in the week to Nov 18, down from 84% a week earlier and below an 82% score in the same week last year

- Argentina's Ag Min forecast 2019/20 wheat production at 19 MMT, down 2.4% from 19.46 MMT in 2018/19

- International Grains Council (IGC) expected the world's wheat area for the 2020/21 season to expand by 1%

CORN

- Dec 3 - Indian group NAFED seeks 100,000 MT of Ukrainian non-GM corn for January 10-31, 2020 shipment. The tender closes on Dec 3 and offers must remain valid until Dec 24

- Nov 21 - USDA announced export sales of 106,000 MT of US corn for delivery to unknown destinations during 2019/20

- Nov 20 - South Korea's Major Feedmill Group (MFG) in a private deal purchased 65,000 MT of optional-origin corn from Posco at 204.69 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for Jan 20-Feb 20 shipment

- Nov 19 - South Korea's Feed Leaders Committee (FLC) in a private deal purchased 65,000 MT of optional-origin corn from Glencore at 203.80 $/mt c&f + 1.00 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for Dec-Jan shipment

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Nov 14 totaled 833,900 MT, incl. 788,000 MT for 2019/20 within expectations (400-900 TMT). Export commitments for 2019/20 are running 45% behind of year-ago

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 33.631 MMT of corn from 95.3% area with the average yield of 7.09 mt/ha as of Nov 22

- Russian farmers as of Nov 22 have harvested 13.5 MMT of corn from 2.2 million ha (87% of planted area) with the average yield of 6 mt/ha (4.89 mt/ha a year ago)

- Japan's use of corn in animal feed totalled 48.8% in September 2019, unchanged from prior month but up by 0.8% point from year-ago level (48% in Sept 2018). Its use of barley fell by 0.1% point to 3.4% (3.4% a year ago); while wheat usage left at 1.6% (1.8% year-ago). Sorghum usage in feed rations unchanged from prior month at 1.8% (2.4% in Sept 2018)            

- Argentina's Ag Min expects 2019/20 corn acreage at 9 mln ha unchanged from 2018/19. Forecast of corn exports in 2018/19 (Mar 2019-Feb 2020) was upped by 1 MMT to 38 MMT vs. 22.45 MMT in previous season

- Argentina's Ag Min forecast 2019/20 barley production at 4.1 MMT, down 19% from 5.06 MMT in 2018/19

- FranceAgriMer estimated France’s corn condition as of Nov 18 as 57% in good to excellent, unchanged from prior week and in line with the year-ago score. French farmers harvested 88% of corn as of Nov 18 vs. 84% a week ago and 100% a year ago

- FranceAgriMer estimated winter barley planting 86% done as of Nov 18, behind of last year’s pace of 99%. The condition of barley crops sown for next year's harvest fell sharply last week. An estimated 79% of barley was rated good or excellent in the week to Nov 18, down from 85% a week earlier but above an 76% score in the same week last year

- Zimbabwe has removed import controls on maize and wheat flour following a severe drought that cut supplies

- Weekly US soybeans export sales data for week ended Nov 14 totaled 1,516,700 MT for 2019/20, topped expectations (800-1400 TMT). Export commitments for 2019/20 are running 5% ahead of year-ago

- Weekly US soymeal export sales data for week ended Nov 14 of 196,400 for 2019/20, within expectations (100-450 TMT). Export commitments for 2019/20 are running 14% behind of year-ago

- Japan's October soybean imports rose 10.2% on year to 319,712 MT, incl. 161,698 MT from the US (down by 7.3%)

- Argentina's Ag Min expects the country to plant 17.2 million hectares of soybeans for the 2019/20, up 1.2% from 17 mln ha in 2018/19. Forecast of soybean exports in 2018/19 (Apr 2019-Mar 2020) was upped by 0.5 MMT to 10 MMT (3.82 MMT in 2017/18)

- Argentina's Ag Min expects the country to plant 1.7 million hectares of sunflower seed for the 2019/20, down 10.5% from 2018/19 (1.9 mln ha)

- Russia's state-controlled VTB has signed an agreement of intent with Russian vegetable oil and mayonnaise producer EFKO to jointly build a grain terminal in the Black Sea port of Taman. VTB and EFKO plan to build infrastructure in Taman port with capacity to handle 12.5 MMT of grains and vegetable oil by-products, as well as 3 MMT of vegetable oils
