- Nov 4 - Syria's Hoboob seeks 150,000 MT of soft wheat from Russia

- Oct 22 - Jordan seeks 120,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat

- Oct 10 - Japan seeks 114,012 MT of food wheat for Nov-Jan shipments:

  • 24,014 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 11,505 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 24,533 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 53,960 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat

- Oct 9 - Japan bought 16,100 MT of feed grain (16,000 MT of wheat and 100 MT of barley) for Feb 27 arrival via SBS-tender. New SBS tender for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley will be held on Oct 16 

- Oct 8 - Egypt's GASC bought 295,000 MT of wheat from Russia (180 TMT) and Ukraine (115 TMT) for November 10-20 shipment:

  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from GrainExport at 220.42 $/mt c&f (204.72 fob+15.70 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from GrainExport at 220.85 $/mt c&f (205.15 fob+15.70 freight);
  • 55,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat from Hakan Agro at 222.15 $/mt c&f (201.60 fob+20.55 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Posco International at 222.20 $/mt c&f (206.50 fob+15.70 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat from LDC at 222.61 $/mt c&f (206.67 fob+15.94 freight)

- Oct 8 - Jordan bought 60,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat from CHS at 229.8 $/mt c&f for the second half of January 2020 shipment

- Oct 6 - The lowest offer in Bangladesh’s tender for 50,000 MT of wheat came in at 255.46 $/mt cif liner out from Agrocorp. Other offers were: Aston – 256.33 $/mt, Grainexport SA – 259.97 $/mt, Swiss Singapore – 264.54 $/mt, JK International – 269.40 $/mt and Phoenix – 269.74 $/mt

- Oct 3 - USDA announced export sales of 130,000 MT of US white wheat for delivery to China during 2019/20

- Oct 2 - Two South Korean flour mills bought about 77,500 MT of US milling wheat (including a range of different wheat grades) from Bunge:

  • Sajo Donga bought about 27,500 MT for Feb 10-March 10 shipment;
  • Daehan Flour Mills bought about 50,000 MT for Jan 20-Feb 20 shipment

- Oct 2 - Morocco’s ONICL bought 576,000 MT of EU soft wheat and 5,000 MT of EU durum wheat for arrival by Jan 31 under an annual preferential-tariff quota   

- Oct 1 - Morocco’s ONICL bought 30,000 MT of US soft wheat for arrival by Dec 31 under an annual preferential-tariff quota             

- South Korea's Nonghyup Feed Inc. (Nofi) in a private deal last week purchased 60,000 MT of Black Sea-origin feed wheat from Glencore at 225.87 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for Nov 28-Dec 17 shipment

- Oct 2 - Egypt's GASC bought 60,000 MT of French wheat from Glencore at 219.35 $/mt c&f (199.10 fob+20.25 freight) for November 5-15 shipment

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending Oct 3, recorded 385,259 MT, below expectations (400-600 TMT). Inspections for 2019/20 are running 20.9% ahead of year-ago

- USDA estimated the US spring wheat harvest as 91% complete by Oct 6, behind of expectations (94%), below 5-year mean (99%) and last year pace (100%)

- USDA said the US winter wheat plantings at 52% complete as of Oct 6, behind of expectations (54%) and 5-year mean (53%), also below last-year score (55%)

- IKAR upped its 2019 Russian wheat crop outlook to 75.4 MMT from 75 MMT previously

- Russia's Grain Union has raised its forecast for Russia's 2019 grain crop by 1.62 MMT to 123.3 MMT. The wheat crop is now seen at 75.8 MMT, barley at 21.4 MMT and corn at 13.5 MMT

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported about 14.472 MMT of grain between July 1-Oct 7, 2019 vs. 9.984 MMT for the same period of last year, including 9.203 MMT of wheat (5.931 MMT a year ago), 2.24 MMT of corn (1.657 MMT) and 2.992 MMT of barley (2.211 MMT) 

- Ukrainian farms have sown as of Oct 8 a total of 4.9 million hectares of winter grains for the 2019 harvest, or 67% of the expected area of 7.3 million, incl. 4.366 million hectares of winter wheat and 439,400 hectares of winter barley

- France's farm ministry raised estimate of the country's 2019 soft wheat crop from 39.448 to 39.749 MMT with yields 7.92 mt/ha, up 16.8% from last year (34.045 MMT and 6.98 mt/ha in 2018) and 12.6% above the five-year average

- FranceAgriMer lowered its forecast for French soft wheat stocks at the end of the 2019/20 to 2.904 MMT from 3.267 MMT projected last month (2.471 MMT in 2018/19). Projected exports outside the EU raised by 700,000 MT to 11.7 MMT, up 13.8% from 9.668 MMT in 2018/19, while forecast of shipments within the EU left at 8.362 MMT, up 13.5% from 7.368 MMT in 2018/19

- UK’s Ag Min estimated 2019 wheat harvest for the UK at a four-year high of 16.283 MMT, a 20.1% growth on year (13.555 MMT in 2018). It is above the five-year average 2014-2018 of 15.2 MMT

CORN

- Oct 2 - Algeria's ONAB rejected all offers and made no purchase in a tender for 50,000 MT of corn from Argentina for November 1-15 shipment, siting on too high prices. The price range was about 187.75-195 $/mt c&f

- US corn export inspections for week, ending Oct 3, reported 466,521 MT, below expectations (500-700 TMT). Inspections for 2019/20 are running 65.8% behind of year-ago

- USDA rated 56% of the US corn crop in good-to-excellent condition as of Oct 6, down 1% point from prior week, behind of expectation (57%) and down compared to 68% a year-ago. USDA estimated 15% of the US corn crop was harvested, behind of expectations (19%), below last year’s pace (33%) and the 5-year mean (27%)

- Informa Economics cut its US corn yield forecast by 2.1 bu to 167.5 bushels per acre (bpa), which results in a US corn crop estimate of 13.695 billion bu for 2019

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 10.753 MMT of corn from 34.5% area with the average yield of 6.27 mt/ha as of Oct 8

- France's farm ministry lowered forecast of the country's 2019 grain maize crop from 12.789 to 12.524 MMT with yields 8.66 mt/ha, up 0.2% from last year (12.503 MMT and 9.16 mt/ha in 2018) but 10.5% below the five-year average

- FranceAgriMer lowered its forecast for French corn stocks at the end of the 2019/20 to 2.123 MMT from 2.286 MMT in Sept and vs. 2.049 MMT in 2018/19. France's 2019/20 corn exports are forecasted at 4.319 MMT down from Sept estimate (4.329 MMT) but up vs. 4.211 MMT a year ago

- FranceAgriMer lowered its forecast of France's 2019/20 barley ending stocks to 2.101 MMT from 2.235 MT in Sept (1.326 MMT in 2018/19). France's 2019/20 barley exports (without malt) are forecasted at 7.147 MMT (6.977 MMT – previous forecast) up 15.3% from year-ago (6.196 MMT in 2018/19)

- UK’s Ag Min estimated 2019 barley harvest for the UK at a thirty-year high of 8.18 MMT, a 25.6% growth on year (6.51 MMT in 2018). It is above the five-year average 2014-2018 of 6.9 MMT

SOYBEAN

- Oct 7 - USDA announced export sales of 438,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China (198 TMT) and unknown destinations (240 TMT) during 2019/20

- Oct 3 - USDA announced export sales of 252,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2019/20

- Oct 2 - USDA announced export sales of 464,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2019/20

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending Oct 3, reported 1,038,988 MT, within trade expectations (900-1400 TMT). Inspections for the 2019/20 marketing year are running 17.1% ahead of year-ago

- USDA rated 53% of the US soybean crop in good-to-excellent condition as of Oct 6, down 2% points from prior week, behind of expectations (55%), down compared to 68% a year-ago. USDA estimated 14% of the US soybean crop was harvested, behind of expectations (15%), below last year’s pace (31%) and the 5-year mean (34%)

- Informa Economics lowered its US soybean yield forecast by 1.9 bu to 46.5 bpa, which results in a 3.513 billion-bu crop estimate

- Strategie Grains cut its estimate of the EU's 2019/20 rapeseed production to 16.9 MMT from 17 MMT previously, down 15.5% from an estimated 20 MMT in 2018/19. Strategie Grains lowereded its forecast for EU rapeseed imports in 2019/20 to 5.9 MMT, down from 6.1 MMT forecast a month earlier although still a record level

- Strategie Grains estimated EU rapeseed sowings ahead of the 2020 harvest at 5.94 million ha, 8% below the 2015-2019 average but still 7% above the 5.55 million ha harvested this year

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 11.914 MMT of sunflowerseed from 85.8% area with the average yield of 2.37 mt/ha as of Oct 8

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 2.674 MMT of soybean from 71.9% area with the average yield of 2.35 mt/ha as of Oct 8
