- Oct 23 - Ethiopia seeks around 400,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat for shipment two months after contract award

- Sept 24 - Taiwan Flour Millers' Association seeks 110,300 MT of US milling wheat in two consignments: 56,250 MT for Nov 3-17 and 54,050 MT for Nov 19-Dec 3 shipments

- Sept 19 - Japan seeks 127,893 MT of food wheat for Oct-Dec shipments:

  • 33,935 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 34,335 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 25,040 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;

- Sept 17 - Algeria's OAIC seeks at least 50,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat for November shipment. Offers must remain valid until Sept 18

- Sept 17 - Syria's Hoboob seeks to exchange 100,000 MT of Syrian durum wheat for 100,000 MT of Russian soft wheat for bread making

- Syria's state grain buyer (Hoboob) bought 900,000 MT of local wheat this season

- Morocco will reduce its customs duty on soft wheat to 35% from 135% from Oct 1 to ensure price stability and regular supply to the domestic market

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Sept 5 totaled 610,900 MT for 2019/20, topped market expectations (300-600 TMT). Export commitments for 2019/20 are running 22% ahead of year-ago

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending Sept 12, recorded 459,258 MT, near the lower end of expectations (400-600 TMT). Inspections for 2019/20 are running 22.1% ahead of year-ago

- USDA estimated the US spring wheat harvest as 76% complete by Sept 15, behind of expectations (82%), also below 5-year mean (93%) and last year pace (96%)

- USDA said the US winter wheat plantings at 8% complete as of Sept 15, in line with expectations, but behind last-year score and 5-year mean (12%)

- SovEcon raised Russia's 2019 total grain production forecast to 118.2 MMT from 116.8 MMT previously, incl. wheat crop to 74.9 MMT (up by 0.5 MMT)

- Russian farmers as of Sept 16 have harvested 68.6 MMT of wheat from 22.5 million ha (80.2% of planted area) with the average yield of 3.05 mt/ha (3.11 mt/ha a year ago)

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported about 11.115 MMT of grain between July 1-Sept 16, 2019 vs. 7.322 MMT for the same period of last year, including 6.754 MMT of wheat (4.05 MMT a year ago), 1.881 MMT of corn (1.324 MMT) and 2.454 MMT of barley (1.787 MMT) 

- The average protein content of the French 2019 soft wheat harvest stood at 11.5%, down from 12% last year

- ABARES cut its forecast of 2019/20 Australian wheat export to 10.871 MMT from previous estimate of 11.688 MMT in June but above last year’s shipments of 9.807 MMT

CORN

- Sept 12 - USDA announced export sales of 113,036 MT of US corn for delivery to Mexico during 2019/20

- Sept 12 - China sold 263,235 MT of corn from state reserves, or 7.5% of the offered amount (3.509 MMT), at average price of 1,668 RMB/mt. So, so far a total of 21.357 MMT of the country’s auctioned off from May 23, from a total of 66.59 MMT offered, all coming from the 2014 and 2015 harvests. China has about 56 MMT of corn left in its temporary state reserve

- China's Ag Min raised its estimate for 2018/19 corn imports to 4.25 MMT, an increase of 250,000 MT from the previous month. China's Ag Min upped estimate of 2019 corn output to 255.51 MMT from 253.44 MMT previously (257.33 MMT in 2018). China’s 2019/20 corn imports are forecasted at 3 MMT

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Sept 5 totaled 498,100 MT for 2019/20, below expectations (500-900 TMT). Export commitments for 2019/20 are running 53% behind of year-ago

- US corn export inspections for week, ending Sept 12, reported 421,803 MT, near the lower end of expectations (400-700 TMT). Inspections for 2019/20 are running 48.2% behind of year-ago

- USDA rated 55% of the US corn crop in good-to-excellent condition as of Sept 15, unchanged from prior week, ahead of expectation (54%) but down compared to 68% a year-ago. USDA estimated 4% of the US corn crop was harvested, as expected, but below last year’s pace (8%) and the 5-year mean (7%)

- Russian farmers as of Sept 16 have harvested 19.7 MMT of barley from 7.7 million ha (87.1% of planted area) with the average yield of 2.57 mt/ha (2.32 mt/ha a year ago)

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 1.708 MMT of corn from 5.8% area with the average yield of 5.95 mt/ha as of Sept 17

- MARS lowered its yield forecast for this year's EU corn to 7.63 mt/ha from 7.93 mt/ha last month, down 8.6% from last year but 0.2% above the five-year average

SOYBEAN

- Sept 17 - USDA announced export sales of 260,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2019/20

- Sept 16 - USDA announced export sales of 256,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2019/20

- Sept 13 - USDA announced export sales of 204,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2019/20

- Weekly US soybeans export sales data for week ended Sept 5 totaled 1,172,200 MT for 2019/20, above expectations (600-1100 TMT). Export commitments for 2019/20 are running 44% behind of year-ago

- Weekly US soymeal export sales data for week ended Sept 5 of 119,100 MT, incl. 38,000 MT for 2018/19, within expectations (25-75 TMT), and 81,100 MT for 2019/20, below expectations (100-250 TMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 4% behind of year-ago

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending Sept 12, reported 666,490 MT, within trade expectations (600-1000 TMT). Inspections for the 2019/20 marketing year are running 23.5% behind of year-ago

- USDA rated 54% of the US soybean crop in good-to-excellent condition as of Sept 15, down 1% point from prior week, in line with expectations, down compared to 67% a year-ago

- NOPA said its members crushed a bigger-than-expected 168.085 million bushels of soybeans during August (162.018 million bu – average expectations, 158.4-169 – range). NOPA processors crashed 168.093 mln bu in July and 158.885 mln bu a year ago. Soyoil stocks fell to a 21-month low of 1.401 billion lbs as of Aug 31 from 1.467 a month earlier, below the last year’s level of 1.623 billion lbs and average expectations of 1.41 billion lbs. Soymeal exports fell to 699,212 tons from 879,319 tons in July and vs. 761,899 tons a year-ago

- China's Ag Min lowered its 2019/20 soybean import forecast to 84 MMT compared to the previous forecast of 84.9 MMT, but up vs. 83.5 MMT in 2018/19

- Rosario grain exchange decreased its forecast for Argentine 2019/20 soy harvest to 50 MMT from 51 MMT previously

- ABARES lowered its forecast of 2019/20 Australian canola export to 1.611 MMT from previous estimate of 1.659 MMT in June, but above the 1.57 MMT in 2018/19
