WHEAT

- July 30 - Algeria's OAIC seeks at least 50,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat for September shipment. Offers must remain valid until July 31

- July 26 - Importers in the Philippines rejected all offers and made no purchase in a tender for 55,000 MT of feed wheat for September shipment

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended July 18 totaled 659,700 MT for 2019/20, topped market expectations (200-450 TMT). Export commitments for 2019/20 are running 24% ahead of year-ago

- China has approved wheat imports from the Russian region of Kurgan

- IKAR upped its 2019 Russian wheat crop outlook to 76.4 MMT from 76.1 MMT previously

- Sovecon cut its forecast of Russian 2019/20 grain exports by 7 MMT to 41.9 MMT, including 31.4 MMT of wheat (down 6,2 MMT from previous forecast)

- European Commission (EC) lowered its forecast of 2019 EU soft wheat crop to 141.345 MMT from 142.34 MMT previously (128.835 MMT last year). EU's executive forecasts EU soft wheat exports at 25.525 MMT in 2019/20, up from 21.4 MMT in 2018/19. Soft wheat inventories in the region are forecasted at 13.692 MMT by the end of June 2020, above 12.248 MMT estimated for 2018/19

- FranceAgriMer estimated 73% of French soft wheat crops were in good/excellent condition by July 22, unchanged from week earlier and vs. 71% a year ago. Harvesting of soft wheat was now under way, with 63% of the crop cut by July 22 (33% a week-ago), below the 88% harvest progress a year ago

- SAGIS estimated S. Africa's June wheat imports at 119,338 MT vs. 201,568 MT in May. Oct-June 2018/19 imports fell 42.7% on year to 859,687 MT (1.564 MMT in Oct-June 2017/18)

- International Grains Council (IGC) cut its forecast for global wheat production in 2019/20 by 6 MMT to 763 MMT (733 MMT in 2018/19), reflecting diminished crop outlooks in Russia (from 79.5 MMT to 75.7 MMT), the EU (from 151.2 MMT to 148.7 MMT) and Canada (from 33.6 MMT to 32 MMT). Forecast of ending stocks was lowered by 5 MMT to 270 MMT (262 MMT in 2018/19)

CORN

- July 26 - South Korea's KFA (Korea Feed Association) in a private deal bought 51,000 MT of corn from LDC at 214.9 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for Dec 5 arrival

- July 25 - China sold 681,410 MT of corn from state reserves, or 17.1% of the offered amount (3.981 MMT), at average price of 1,678 RMB/mt

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended July 18 totaled 507,800 MT, incl. 121,200 MT for 2018/19, below expectations (150-400 TMT), and 386,600 MT for 2019/20, above expectations (100-300 TMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 16% behind of year-ago

- EC lifted its forecast of 2019 EU corn harvest to 69.517 MMT from 69.338 MMT previously (68.98 MMT in 2018). EC forecasts EU 2019/20 corn imports at 15.483 MMT vs. 24.1 MMT in 2018/19 and ending stock at 23.285 MMT vs. 25.09 MMT current season

- EC trimmed its forecast of 2019 EU barley harvest to 59.741 MMT from 59.884 MMT previously (56.013 MMT in 2018). EC forecasts EU 2019/20 barley exports at 8.824 MMT vs. 7.9 MMT in 2018/19 and ending stock at 6.257 MMT vs. 5.33 MMT current season

- FranceAgriMer estimated 67% of corn crops were in good/excellent condition by July 22, down 8% points from prior week and vs. 71% a year ago

- FranceAgriMer estimated 72% of French spring barley crops in good/excellent condition by July 22, unchanged from prior week and vs. 73% a year ago. Harvesting of winter barley was complited by July 22 (97% a week-ago). They also harvested 67% of spring barley vs. 30% a week ago and 70% a year ago

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) lifted its forecast of corn output this year to 10.979 MMT from 10.933 MMT last month (12.51 MMT in 2018), above the average market expectations of 10.913 MMT

- SAGIS estimated South Africa's corn stocks as of June 30 were at 5.114 MMT vs. 5.528 MMT a year ago

- SAGIS estimated S. Africa’s June corn imports at 23,772 MT; May-June 2019 imports totals 66,267 MT (zero in May-June 2018)

- SAGIS estimated S. Africa's June corn exports at 67,468 MT; May-June 2019 exports totals 190,875 MT down 67.7% on year (590,472 MT in May-June 2018)

- IGC lowered its forecast of the global corn crop in 2019/20 by 3 MMT to 1.092 billion tones (1.13 BMT in 2018/19), with a cut to China's outlook partly offset by an upward revision for Brazil. IGC upped its forecast for 2019/20 global corn carryover by 2 MMT to 273 MMT, sharply down vs. 322 MMT in 2018/19

- China's pork imports are poised to hit an even higher record than had been expected this year, and soar a further 40% in 2020 - as African swine fever drives the country's swine herd to the smallest since 1983

SOYBEAN

- July 31- Egypt's GASC seeks 10,000 MT optional-origin sunoil and 30,000 MT soyoil for Sept 1-20 arrival

- Weekly US soybeans export sales data for week ended July 18 totaled 145,500 MT, incl. net cancellation of 78,200 MT for 2018/19, within expectations (-100-+300 TMT), and 223,700 MT for 2019/20, within expectations (100-300 TMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 16% behind of year-ago

- Weekly US soymeal export sales data for week ended July 18 of 227,300 MT, incl. 87,300 MT for 2018/19, below expectations (100-250 TMT), and 140,000 MT for 2019/20, within expectations (50-150 TMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 3% behind of year-ago

- China has approved soybean imports from all parts of Russia

- IGC slightly trimmed its forecast of the soybean production in 2019/20 to 348 MMT (363 MMT in 2018/19), mostly reflecting downward revise this month for the US. IGC cut its forecast for 2019/20 global soybean carryover by 1 MMT to 44 MMT (55 MMT in 2018/19)

- Japan's Marubeni said US unit Columbia Grain stopped new soybean sales to China from July 24

- EC cut its forecast of 2019 EU rapeseed harvest to 17.98 MMT from 18.711 MMT previously, 10.3% down from 20.043 MMT in 2018

- EC trimmed forecast of 2019 EU soybean harvest to 2.887 MMT from 2.913 MMT previously (2.827 MMT)

- EC upped forecast of 2019 EU sunflower seed crop to 10.697 MMT from 10.64 MMT previously (9.964 MMT in 2018)

- Strategie Grains cut its forecast of the EU's 2019/20 rapeseed production to 17.4 MMT from 17.81 MMT previously, down 12.8% from an estimated 19.95 MMT in 2018/19

- Strategie Grains upped forecast of the EU's 2019/20 sunflower seed production from 9.58 to 9.63 MMT, up 1.2% from an estimated 9.51 MMT in 2018/19             

- Strategie Grains lowered forecast of the EU's 2019/20 soybean production from 2.62 to 2.6 MMT, down 5.3% from 2018/19

- CEC lowered its forecast of S. Africa’s 2019 soybean crop to 1.17 MMT from 1.216 MMT previously (1.54 MMT in 2018)

- CEC raised forecast of S. Africa’s 2019 sunflower crop to 655,640 MT from 611,140 MT previously, down 23.9% from 862,000 MT in 2018

- Indonesia will maintain export tax for crude palm oil at zero for August 2019, as the CPO reference price for August is set at 532.3 $/mt, below the threshold of 750 $/mt for taxes and 570 $/mt for levies

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's July 1-25 palm oil exports at 1,150,972 MT down 2% from a month ago
