WHEAT

- July 23 - Jordan seeks 120,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat for Oct-Nov shipment

- Thai flour mills bought about 60,000 MT of US wheat in recent deals for arrival in September: soft white wheat at around 260 $/mt c&f; hard red winter wheat at around 245 $/mt c&f and spring wheat at around 255 $/mt c&f

- Black Sea milling wheat, 11.5% protein, was quoted at about 230 $/mt, c&f in Asia's physical market as compared with 220 $/mt, c&f a few weeks ago

- July 18 - Japan bought 51,821 MT of food wheat for Sept shipments:

  • 25,195 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 26,626 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- July 17 - Egypt's GASC bought 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Garant Logistics at 215.54 $/mt c&f (201.35 fob+14.19 freight) for August 21-31 shipment

- July 16 - Jordan Silos & Supply General Company has made no purchase in an international tender for 25,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat and re-tender on July 30

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended July 11 totaled 347,300 MT for 2019/20, within market expectations (200-400 TMT). Export commitments for 2019/20 are running 21% ahead of year-ago

- Ukrainian farmers have threshed 15.345 MMT of winter wheat from 64% area with the average yield of 3.71 mt/ha as of July 19 (3.32 mt/ha a year ago)

- Ukrainian grain stocks were at 9.2 MMT as of July 1, up 0.3% from a year earlier, incl. 4.023 MMT of wheat (3.573 MMT a year ago), 1.207 MMT of barley (987,800 MT a year ago) and 2.599 MMT of corn (3.319 MMT a year ago). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- IKAR lowered its 2019 Russian wheat crop outlook to 76.1 MMT from 77.4 MMT previously. They also lowered estimate for Russian wheat exports in 2019/20, which started on July 1, by 1 MMT to 33.2 MMT

- Iraq has bought 4.38 MMT of local wheat so far this harvesting season, which started on April 15 and expected to end at the start of August

- FranceAgriMer estimated 73% of French soft wheat crops were in good/excellent condition by July 15, unchanged from week earlier and vs. 71% a year ago. Harvesting of soft wheat was now under way, with 33% of the crop cut by July 15 (9% a week-ago), below the 64% harvest progress a year ago

- Bulgaria's July-April 2018/19 wheat exports are estimated at 3.776 MMT, down 13.7% from year-ago

- Japan's June grain imports rose 5.2% on year to 2.231 MMT, incl. 1.621 MMT from the US (down by 1.1%)

CORN

- July 30 - Indian state-run trading company MMTC seeks an unspecified amount of non-GM yellow corn for Aug-Oct shipment. The tender closes on July 30 and offers must remain valid until Aug 12. A previous tender from the MMTC to buy corn had closed on July 11 and traders don't believe a purchase was made

- July 22 - South Korea's KOCOPIA seeks 60,000 MT of optional-origin yellow corn for Oct 25 arrival

- July 18 - China sold 522,921 MT of corn from state reserves, or 13.5% of the offered amount (3.881 MMT), at average price of 1,684 RMB/mt

- July 17 - Japan received no offers for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley in a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction. New SBS tender for the same amounts for each grain will be held on July 24          

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended July 11 totaled 333,000 MT, incl. 200,000 MT for 2018/19, below expectations (250-500 TMT), and 133,000 MT for 2019/20, within expectations (100-300 TMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 16% behind of year-ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported about 1.935 MMT of grain between July 1-19, 2019 vs. 975,000 MT for the same period of last year, including 394,000 MT of wheat (285,000 MT a year ago), 1.189 MMT of corn (368,000 MT) and 350,000 MT of barley (322,000 MT)

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 3.537 MMT of winter barley from 97.5% area with the average yield of 3.59 mt/ha as of July 19; also 2.118 MMT of spring barley from 50.6% area with yield of 2.76 mt/ha; and 536,500 MT of peas from 84.1% area with yield of 2.26 mt/ha (1.63 mt/ha a year ago)

- FranceAgriMer estimated 74% of corn crops were in good/excellent condition by July 15, down 4% points from prior week and vs. 71% a year ago

- FranceAgriMer estimated 73% of French winter barley crops were in good/excellent condition by July 15, unchanged from prior week and vs. 69% a year ago. Spring barley rating was at 72% in good to excellent vs. 72% last week and vs. 75% a year ago. Harvesting of winter barley was under way, with 97% of the crop cut by July 15 (80% a week-ago), below the 99% harvest progress a year ago. They also harvested 30% of spring barley vs. 12% a week ago and 31% a year ago

- Bulgaria's Sept-Apr 2018/19 corn exports are estimated at 1.484 MMT, up 22.6% from year-ago

- Bulgaria's July-April 2018/19 barley exports are estimated at 167,400 MT, down 52.2% from year-ago

- Japan's use of corn in animal feed totalled 49.1% in May 2019, up by 0.3% point from prior month and by 0.4% point above year-ago level (48.7% in May 2018). Its use of barley fell by 0.1% point on month to 3.4% (3.5% a year ago); wheat usage left at 1.6% (1.7% year-ago). Sorghum usage in feed rations unchanged from prior month at 1.8% (2.1% in May 2018)

SOYBEAN

- Weekly US soybeans export sales data for week ended July 11 totaled 326,300 MT, incl. 127,900 MT for 2018/19, within expectations (0-400 TMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 16% behind of year-ago

- Weekly US soymeal export sales data for week ended July 11 of 214,800 MT, incl. 65,300 MT for 2018/19, within expectations (50-200 TMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 3% behind of year-ago

- Argentina's Ag Min lowered forecast of soybean crop in 2018/19 by 300,000 MT to 55.3 MMT, up 46.4% from 37.78 MMT in 2017/18. Forecast of soybean exports in 2018/19 (Apr 2019-Mar 2020) was lowered by 300,000 MT to 8.7 MMT (3.9 MMT last season)

- Japan's June soybean imports rose 1.4% on year to 285,258 MT, incl. 165,873 MT from the US (up by 5.3%)

- Russia produced 2.7 MMT of sunflower oil during first six months of 2019, up 12.1% from the same period last year

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 2.427 MMT of winter rapeseed from 79.4% area as of July 19, yields totalled 2.37 mt/ha (2.42 mt/ha a year ago)

- Ukrainian sunflower stocks were at 1.399 MMT as of July 1, up 24.3% from a year earlier (1.125 MMT). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Bulgaria's Sept-Apr 2018/19 sunflower exports are estimated at 525,000 MT, down 23.5% from year-ago score

- Bulgaria's July-April 2018/19 rapeseed exports are estimated at 356,300 MT, down 15.9% from year-ago

- Surveyor AmSpec Agri Malaysia estimated Malaysia's July 1-20 palm oil exports at 909,285MT down 0.4% from a month ago
