WHEAT

- March 7 - Japan seeks 116,136 MT of food wheat for Apr-May shipments:

  • 15,952 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 15,642 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 28,270 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 30,967 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 25,305 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- March 5 - Jordan has made no purchase in an international tender for 120,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat

- Egypt has rejected a shipment of Romanian wheat over a "quality issue"

- European Commission (EC) forecasts 2019 EU soft wheat crop at 140.786 MMT vs. 128.733 MMT last year. EU's executive forecasts EU soft wheat exports at 25.494 MMT in 2019/20, up from 18 MMT current season. Soft wheat inventories in the region are forecasted at 13.155 MMT by the end of June 2020, slightly below 13.465 MMT estimated for 2018/19    

- Russia's Ag Min forecast 2019 wheat harvest at 75-78 MMT, at least 4% higher than last year. The ministry sees overall grain harvest at 118 MMT in 2019, up 5% from 2018

CORN

- EC expects 2019 EU corn harvest at 68.377 MMT, down 1% from 69.052 MMT in 2018. EC forecasts EU 2019/20 corn imports at 15.465 MMT vs. 20 MMT in 2018/19 and ending stock at 25.644 MMT vs. 25.872 MMT current season

- EC expects 2019 EU barley harvest at 60.209 MMT compared to 56.145 MMT in 2018. EC forecasts EU 2019/20 barley exports at 8.824 MMT vs. 7.5 MMT in 2018/19 and ending stock at 10.745 MMT vs. 6.095 MMT current season

- Ukraine’s Ag Min estimated early spring grain planting 1% done as of March 4. Ukrainian farmers planted 22,500 ha of spring crops, thereof 11,600 ha of barley and 10,400 ha of peas

SOYBEAN

- USDA estimated US January 2019 soybean crush for crude oil at 5.486 million short tons, a 0.5% decrease from December 2018, but above the last year level (5.24 mln tons in January 2018). Crude soyoil stocks rose to 1.659 billion lbs as of January 31 from 1.602 in December, but below the 1.887 bln lbs a year ago, while refined oil stocks were at 344.598 million lbs as of Jan 31 vs. 344.078 in Dec and 353.056 in Jan 2018. January US soy cake and meal stocks were at 480,114 tons vs. 394,444 in Dec and vs. 379,359 tons a year-ago

- EC forecasts 2019 EU soybean harvest at 2.865 MMT, almost unchanged from 2018 (2.867 MMT)

- EC expects 2019 EU rapeseed harvest at 19.881 MMT, slightly up from 19.864 MMT in 2018

- EC forecasts 2019 EU sunflower seed crop at 10.08 MMT, down 1.4% from 10.219 MMT in 2018
