WHEAT

- Feb 18 - A state agency in Pakistan (PASSCO) is tendering to sell and export 250,000 MT of wheat under a government programme agreed in November

- Feb 3 - The lowest offer in Bangladesh’s tender for 50,000 MT of wheat came in at 299.07 $/mt cif liner out from Agrocorp. Other offers were: J. K. International – 302.25 $/mt, Phoenix Global – 309.87 $/mt and Swiss Singapore Overseas – 309.93 $/mt. Wheat, 12.5% protein, was sought for shipment 40 days after contract signing.

Bangladesh cancelled a previous tender on Jan 8 as the lowest bidder did not agree to a time extension amid rising global prices. Russian wheat was offered at the lowest price of 290.94 $/mt, CIF liner out by Swiss Singapore Overseas

- Jan 31 - The lowest offer in Ethiopian tender for 400,000 MT of optional-origin wheat came in at 270 $/mt c&f for 100,000 MT

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending Jan 31, recorded 440,031 MT, within trade expectations (400-600 TMT). Inspections for 2018/19 are running 10.9% behind of year-ago

- US corn export inspections for week, ending Jan 31, reported 901,214 MT, within market expectations (800-1100 TMT). Inspections for 2018/19 are running 50.9% ahead of year-ago

- EU this season in period of July 1-Feb 3, 2018/19 imported 14.64 MMT of corn (maize) vs. 10.13 MMT a year ago

- EU this season in period of July 1-Feb 3, 2018/19 exported 1.151 MMT of corn vs. 732,410 MT a year ago

- EU this season in period of July 1-Feb 3, 2018/19 exported 2.879 MMT of barley vs. 3.381 MMT a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Feb 8-11 - South Korea’s Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp seeks a total 95,000 MT of non-GM soybeans for Jan-Aug 2020 arrival

- Feb 4 - USDA announced export sales of 612,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2018/19

- Feb 1 - Argentina registered for export 525,000 MT of soymeal and 120,000 MT of soybeans

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending Jan 31, reported 975,775 MT, within trade estimates (0.8-1.1 MMT). Inspections for the 2018/19 marketing year are running 38.2% behind of year-ago

- Brazil’s Trade Ministry reported January soybean exports at 2.154 MMT, down from 4.231 MT in December but up vs. 1.564 MMT a year ago. Also Brazil exported 1.261 MMT of soymeal in January versus 1.609 MMT the month before and 1.128 MMT a year ago; and 39,563 MT of soyoil compared to 38,985 MT in December and 50,628 MT a year ago

- FCStone cut its 2018/19 Brazilian soybean crop forecast by 4 MMT, to 112.2 MMT (116.26 MMT in Jan). FCStone also slashed its soy export view from 72 MMT to only 68 MMT vs. around 80 MMT last year

- Russia's government has told Brazil it may restrict soybean imports from the country temporarily if producers do not reduce their volume of pesticide use, especially of products using glyphosate. Brazilian soybean exports to Russia totaled 1 MMT last year

- Buenos Aires Grains Exchange kept its forecast of Argentine 2018/19 soybean production at 53 MMT (35.1 MMT in 2017/18)
