WHEAT

- Jan 29 - Egypt's (GASC) bought 360,000 MT of wheat from France (180 TMT) and Romania (180 TMT) for March 11-20 shipment:

  • 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat from ADM at 261.34 $/mt c&f (249.89 fob+11.45 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat from Cofco at 262.21 $/mt c&f (250.76 fob+11.45 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat from Cargill at 262.50 $/mt c&f (252.00 fob+10.50 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of French wheat from Soufflet at 262.80 $/mt c&f (247.8 fob+15 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of French wheat from Glencore at 262.80 $/mt c&f (247.8 fob+15 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of French wheat from Glencore at 264.95 $/mt c&f (247.8 fob+17.15 freight)

- Jan 29 - Jordan bought 60,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat from CHS at 271.5 $/mt c&f for first half of April shipment

- Jan 29 - Taiwan Flour Millers' Association bought 55,000 MT of US milling wheat from ADM with additional charge of 25.75 $/mt for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan for shipment between Mar 29-Apr 12:

  • 27,487 MT of dark northern spring wheat (14.5% protein) at 253.32 $/mt fob;
  • 19,613 MT of hard red winter wheat (12.5% protein) at 253.96 $/mt fob;
  • 7,900 MT of soft white wheat (9% protein) at 241.56 $/mt fob.

- Iraq's agriculture ministry expects local wheat production for 2019 reaching almost 3 MMT due to higher rainfall (2.17 MMT in 2018)

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) lowered its wheat production estimate for 2018 to 1.799 MMT from 1.831 MMT previously, up 17.2% from the previous season’s crop of 1.535 MMT

- Kazakhstan expects to harvest more grain this year than in 2018 when the harvest stood at 22.8 MMT

- Kazakh Ag Min said Kazakhstan exported 6.391 MMT of grain between July 1-Jan 10, 2018/19 vs. 5.218 MMT a year ago, incl. flour – 1.614 MMT in wheat equivalent vs. 1.694 MMT in the same period of 2017/18

CORN

- Jan 29 - USDA announced export sales of 138,000 MT of optional-origin corn for delivery to South Korea during 2018/19

- Jan 29 - Argentina registered 120,000 MT of corn for export

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) estimated corn plantings this year at 2.269 million hectares, above the average market expectations of 1.998 mln ha, but 2.2% less than the 2.319 million ha planted for the previous season, and also 7.3% or 179,500 ha less than the intentions to plant figure of 2.448 mln ha released in October 2018

SOYBEAN

- Chicago soybeans fell on Tuesday on concerns over US-China trade tensions

- Abiove lowered its forecast of 2018/19 soybean crop by 3 MMT to 117.9 MMT. Abiove also cut its forecast of Brazil's 2019 soybean exports by 3.8 MMT to 70.1 MMT

- CEC lowered its estimate of soybeans plantings to 743,600 ha from 851,800 ha in Oct, which is 5.5% less than last year's acreage

- CEC cut its estimate of sunflower seed plantings to 444,000 ha from 575,000 ha in Oct, which is 26.2% less than last year's acreage

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's January 1-25 palm oil exports at 1,207,619 MT up 12% from a month ago
