The Egypt's state grain buyer, the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) on Thursday, December 20, bought 120,000 MT of wheat from Ukraine (60 TMT) and Romania (60 TMT) for February 11-20 delivery:

  • 60,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat from Louis Dreyfus at 263.7 $/mt c&f (246.4 fob+17.3 freight)
  • 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat from CHS at 264.1 $/mt c&f (248.75 fob+15.35 freight)

So GASC has bought a total 4.695 MMT of wheat (3.375 MMT from Russia, 780 TMT from Romania, 360 TMT from Ukraine+180 TMT from the US) for supply in 2018/19 (July-June).

Traders said the following offers were submitted to GASC in the first round of the tender:

  • Louis Dreyfus: 60,000 MT of Ukraine wheat at 246.40 $/mt fob
  • GTCS: 60,000 MT of Russian wheat at 249.95 $/mt fob
  • CHS: 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat at 248.75 $/mt fob
  • Ameropa:
    • 55,000 MT of US Hard Red wheat at 250.25 $/mt fob
    • 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat at 254.75 $/mt fob
  • ADM: 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat at 252.11 $/mt fob
  • Cofco: 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat at 252.99 $/mt fob
  • Aston: 60,000 MT of Russian wheat at 255 $/mt fob

The best offers on C&F basis were as follows (USD/MT, C&F):

  1. Louis Dreyfus: 60,000 MT of Ukraine at 246.40+17.30=263.70 $/mt c&f
  2. CHS: 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat at 248.75+15.35=264.10 $/mt c&f
  3. GTCS: 60,000 MT of Russian wheat at 249.95+16.30=266.25 $/mt c&f
  4. ADM: 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat at 252.11+13.95=266.06 $/mt c&f
  5. Cofco: 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat at 252.99+13.95=266.94 $/mt c&f
