WHEAT

- Nov 15 - Japan seeks 120,226 MT of food wheat for Dec-Feb shipments:

  • 36,459 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 13,868 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 35,549 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 34,350 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- Nov 14 - Japan bought 15,500 MT of feed wheat for Feb 28 arrival via SBS-tender. New SBS tender for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley will be held on November 21

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending Nov 8, recorded 342,157 MT, within trade expectations (300-500 TMT). Inspections for 2018/19 are running 20.9% behind of year-ago

- USDA said the US winter wheat crop 89% planted as of Nov 11, behind average of analysts’ expectations of 90%, also below last-year score (94%) and 5-year mean (94%). USDA rated 54% of the US winter wheat crop in good-to-excellent condition, up 3% points from prior week and above analysts’ expectations of 51%, matching last year’s level

- Iraq wants to allow Russian origin wheat imports

- Farmers in Russia harvested 73.4 MMT of wheat as of Nov 13, yields totals 2.79 mt/ha

- Russian farmers have planted 17.6 million hectares (102.3% of the planned area) of winter crops as of Nov 13

- EU this season in period of July 1-Nov 11, 2018/19 exported 5.891 MMT of soft wheat compared to 7.772 MMT a year ago

- British wheat imports slowed in September to 238,791 MT (incl. 99,183 MT from Bulgaria and 36,044 MT from Romania) from 270,380 MT in August but are still running well ahead of last season's pace. Cumulative imports in July-September totalled 758,179 MT, sharply up from 373,502 MT in the same period last year. British wheat exports totalled only 29,034 MT in September, down from the previous month's 35,001 MT. Cumulative exports were also lower at 79,054 MT, down from 146,968 MT in the same period last season

- France's farm ministry lowered its estimate of the country's 2018 soft wheat crop to 34.145 MMT from 34.192 MMT forecasted in October, down 6.6% from last year (36.559 MMT in 2017) and 4.8% below the five-year average

- FranceAgriMer raised its forecast for French soft wheat stocks at the end of the 2018/19 to 2.518 MMT from 2.404 MMT projected last month (2.97 MMT in 2017/18). Projected exports outside the EU kept at 8.75 MMT, up 7.8% from 8.117 MMT in 2017/18, while forecast of shipments within the EU was lowered from 7.932 to 7.817 MMT, down 15.7% from 9.268 MMT in 2017/18

CORN

- Nov 14 - Taiwan's MFIG bought 62,000 MT of US or Brazil corn from Glencore at a premium of 132.7 USc/bushel c&f over the Chicago March contract (200.96 USD/mt, c&f) for Jan 1-20 shipment

- Indonesia's state food procurement agency Bulog has bought about 100,000 MT of South American feed corn at around 215 $/mt c&f for December arrival

- US corn export inspections for week, ending Nov 8, reported 1,136,708 MT, within market expectations (0.8-1.2 MMT). Inspections for 2018/19 are running 86.4% ahead of year-ago

- USDA estimated 84% of the US corn crop was harvested as of Nov 11, behind analysts' forecasts of 87% and 5-year mean (87%), but above last year’s pace (81%)

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 30 MMT of corn from 87% of planned area as of Nov 13, yields totaled 7.54 mt/ha

French winter barley crop is estimated at 8.199 MMT (8.255 MMT forecasted in Oct and 9.084 MMT in 2017), while spring crop totals 3.041 MMT (3.042 MMT forecasted in Oct and 3.003 MMT in 2017)

- FranceAgriMer lowered its forecast of France's 2018/19 barley ending stocks to 1.07 MMT from 1.079 MT in Oct and against 1.514 MMT in 2017/18. France's 2018/19 barley exports (without malt) is expected at 6.61 MMT (6.669 MMT – previous forecast) up 10% from 5.992 MMT a year ago

- France's farm ministry upped forecast of the country's 2018 grain maize crop to 12.246 MMT from 12.204 MMT, down 14.3% from last year (14.297 MMT in 2017) and 15.2% below the five-year average

- FranceAgriMer estimated France's 2018/19 corn crop at 11.529 MMT vs. 13.607 MMT last year. FranceAgriMer slightly lifted its forecast for French corn stocks at the end of the 2018/19 to 1.965 MMT from 1.962 MMT in Oct and vs. 2.549 MMT in 2017/18. France's 2018/19 corn exports are forecasted at 4.618 MMT up from 4.533 MMT in Oct and vs. 5.316 MMT a year ago

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending Nov 8, reported 1,301,775 MT, topped trade estimates (900-1300 TMT). Inspections for the 2018/19 marketing year are running 41.9% behind of year-ago

- USDA estimated 88% of the US soybean crop was harvested as of Nov 11, behind analysts' forecasts (91%), also below last year’s pace (93%) and the 5-year mean (93%)
