WHEAT

- Jul 26 - Taiwan Flour Millers' Association seeks 102,775 MT of US milling wheat for Sept 11-Oct 12 shipment

- Jul 24 - Japan seeks 62,957 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat for Aug-Sept shipments. Japan has resumed purchases of Canadian wheat after testing showed no GMO imports

- Jul 19 - Jordan has made no purchase in an international tender for 120,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat and re-tender on July 26

- Jul 20 - Argentina registered 50,000 MT of wheat for export

- Jul 19 - Argentina registered 140,000 MT of wheat for export

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended July 12 totalled 300,000 MT for 2018/19 (within trade expectations for 150-500 TMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 32% behind of year-ago

- Russia’s Ag Min said Russia exported 2.073 MMT of grain between July 1-18, 2018/19, up by 89% from 1.098 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 1.428 MMT (2.7 times more from year ago);
  • barley – 464,000 MT (1.7 times more);
  • corn – 168,000 MT (down by 43.5%)

- Russian farmers harvested 27.9 MMT of wheat as of July 20, up from 17.9 MMT a year ago, yields totalled 3.81 mt/ha down from 4.56 mt/ha year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have threshed 13.3 MMT of winter wheat from 64% of planned area with the average yield of 3.34 mt/ha as of July 20

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange kept its estimate of Argentine 2018/19 wheat crop area at 6.1 mln ha (5.7 mln ha in 2017/18). Exchange estimates 92.5% of the crop has been planted as of July 18 vs. 82.5% this time last year

- Agritel expects soft wheat production in France to drop to 34.17 MMT this year, down 6.5% from 2017 crop

- FranceAgriMer said 71% of France’s soft wheat crops were in good to excellent condition as of July 15, down 1% point from prior week and vs. 66% a year ago. French farmers harvested 64% of soft wheat vs. 20% a week ago and 53% a year ago

CORN

- Jul 20 - Argentina registered 100,000 MT of corn for export

- Jul 20 - China sold 1,101,553 MT of corn from state reserves, or 28.3% of the offered amount, at average price of 1,421 RMB/mt (209 $/mt)

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended July 12 of 1,415,500 MT, incl. 641,000 MT for 2017/18 (topped trade expectations of 300-600 TMT) and 774,500 MT for 2018/19 (well above expectations for 200-500 TMT). Export commitments for 2017/18 are running 4% ahead of year-ago

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange lowered its forecast for Argentina's 2017/18 corn crop by 1 MMT to 31 MMT (39 MMT in 2016/17)

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange expects Argentina’s 2018/19 barley acreage will rise to 950,000 ha (850,000 ha in 2017/18). About 77.8% of the crop has been planted as of July 18 vs. around 66% this time last year

- FranceAgriMer estimated France’s corn condition as of July 15 as 71% in good to excellent, down 2% points from prior week and below the year-ago score of 81%

- FranceAgriMer said 69% of France’s winter barley crops were in good to excellent condition as of July 15, unchanged from the prior week, above the year-ago score (62%). Spring barley rating was at 75% in good to excellent vs. 75% last week and vs. 65% a year ago. Harvesting of winter barley was under way, with 99% of the crop cut by July 15 (92% a week ago), above the 98% harvest progress a year ago. They also harvested 31% of spring barley vs. 7% a week ago and 38% a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 2.4 MMT of barley as of July 20, down from 3 MMT a year ago, yields totalled 3.18 mt/ha vs. 3.97 mt/ha year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have threshed 2.8 MMT of winter barley from 98% of planned area with the average yield of 3.51 mt/ha as of July 20. They also harvested 980,000 MT of spring barley from 33% of planned area with the average yield of 1.94 mt/ha

- Ukrainian farmers have threshed 487,000 MT of peas from 70% of planned area with the average yield of 1.64 mt/ha as of July 20

- Japan's use of corn in animal feed rose to 48.7% in May 2018, up 0.3% point from prior month and up by 1.8% points above year-ago level (46.9% in May 2017). Its use of barley kept at 3.5% unchanged from month and year ago; while wheat usage left at 1.7% (1.9% year-ago). Sorghum usage in feed rations rose to 2.1% in May from 2.0% in Apr 2018, still down vs. 2.2% a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Jul 20 - Argentina registered 132,400 MT of soymeal for export

- Weekly US soybeans export sales data for week ended July 12 totalled 865,700 MT, incl. 252,300 MT for 2017/18 (near the lower end of trade expectations of 200-500 TMT) and 613,400 MT for 2018/19 (topped trade expectations for 100-500 TMT). Export commitments for 2017/18 are running 4% behind of year-ago

- Weekly US soymeal export sales data for week ended July 12 of 222,000 MT, incl. 131,000 MT for 2017/18 and 91,000 MT for 2018/19, within trade expectations. Export commitments for 2017/18 are running 16% ahead of year-ago

- Russian farmers harvested 105,600 MT of rapeseed as of July 20, down from 129,600 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.78 mt/ha vs. 2.04 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 2.15 MMT of winter rapeseed from 86% of planned area as of July 20, yields totalled 2.55 mt/ha

- Surveyor AmSpec Agri Malaysia estimated Malaysia's July 1-20 palm oil exports at 681,178 MT down 1.3% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's July 1-20 palm oil exports at 692,334 MT up 3.3% from a month ago
