WHEAT

- Apr 26 - Algeria’s OAIC seeks at least 50,000 MT of soft wheat for July shipment

- Apr 25 - Jordan has made no purchase in an international tender for 100,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat

- Apr 25 - South Korea's Nonghyup Feed Inc. (Nofi) bought 63,000 MT of optional-origin feed wheat at 220 $/mt c&f plus a 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for Sept 25 arrival

- Apr 25 - Japan bought 200 MT of feed wheat for Sept 28 arrival via SBS-tender. New SBS tender for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley will be held on May 9

- Apr 25 - Argentina registered 50,140 MT of wheat for export

- Apr 18 - Taiwan Flour Millers' Association bought 92,975 MT of US milling wheat in two consignments:

  • The first consignment was bought from CHS and has an additional charge of 30.85 $/mt for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan for shipment between June 1-15:
    • 24,650 MT of dark northern spring wheat (14.5% protein) at 301.82 $/mt fob;
    • 15,000 MT of hard red winter wheat (12.5% protein) at 259.50 $/mt fob;
    • 7,400 MT of soft white wheat (9% protein) at 221.58 $/mt fob.
  • The second consignment has an additional charge of 31.5 $/mt for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan for shipment between June 18-July 2:
    • 26,300 MT of dark northern spring wheat (14.5% protein) from ADM at 298.83 $/mt fob;
    • 13,175 MT of hard red winter wheat (12.5% protein) from United Grain Corporation at 255.88 $/mt fob;
    • 6,450 MT of soft white wheat (9% protein) from United Grain Corporation at 221.58 $/mt fob

- Apr 25 - China sold 435,809 MT of wheat from state reserves or 21% of the offered amount at auction at average price of 2,391 RMB/mt (379 $/mt)

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) expects wheat plantings this year at 500,500 hectares, which would be up 1.8% from last year's acreage

- SAGIS estimated S. Africa's March wheat imports at 86,627 MT vs. 315,959 MT in February. Oct-Mar 2017/18 imports rose 198% on year to 1.155 MMT

CORN

- Apr 23 - Argentina registered 50,000 MT of corn for export

- Apr 25 - South Korea's Feed Leaders' Committee (FLC) rejected all offers and made no purchase in a tender for about 69,000 MT of optional-origin corn for Sept 15 arrival. The lowest offer was 220.97 $/mt c&f plus a 1.00 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading

- Apr 24 - Jordan has made no purchase in an international tender for 120,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley and re-tender on May 8

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) raised its forecast of corn output this year to 12.827 MMT from 12.421 MMT last month, ahead of average market expectations of 12.75 MMT. It would be 23.7% less than last year (16.82 MMT in 2017)

- SAGIS estimated South Africa's corn stocks as of March 31 were at 4.637 MMT vs. 5.506 MMT a month ago and 1.534 MMT a year ago

- SAGIS estimated S. Africa's March corn exports at 109,584 MT. May-Mar 2017/18 exports rose 141% on year to 2.266 MMT

- SAGIS said that S. Africa didn’t import any corn in May-Mar 2017/18 compared to the 2.237 MMT imported in May-Mar 2016/17

- Ukrainian farmers have sown 1 million ha of corn or 22% of planned area as of April 25 vs. 836,000 MT a year ago

- Ukraine’s Ag Min estimated early spring grain planting 86%, or 2.1 million ha done as of Apr 25 (2.3 million ha a year ago), thereof:

  • 1.4 million ha of barley (or 86% of planned area) vs. 1.5 million ha a year ago;
  • 386,000 ha of peas (or 91%) vs. 375,000 ha;
  • 157,000 ha of oats (or 77%) vs. 195,000 ha;
  • 144,000 ha of wheat (or 82%) vs. 160,000 ha

- Apr 25 - Argentina registered 625,000 MT of soymeal for export

- Apr 24 - Argentina registered 128,667 MT of soymeal for export

- CEC raised S. Africa’s 2018 soybean crop forecast to 1.43 MMT from 1.395 MMT last month, up 8.7% from 1.316 MMT in 2017

- CEC upped S. Africa’s 2018 sunflower crop outlook to 792,255 MT from 749,205 MT in Mar, but it would be down 9.4% from 874,000 MT in 2017

- Ukrainian farmers have sown 1.9 million ha of sunflower or 34% of planned area as of April 25 vs. 1.8 million ha a year ago
