- Mar 27 - Jordan again seeks 100,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat

- Mar 22 - Algeria's OAIC seeks at least 50,000 MT of optional-origin durum wheat

- Mar 22 - Japan seeks 127,338 MT of food wheat for Apr-May shipments:

  • 19,950 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 47,825 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 24,167 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 35,396 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat

- Mar 19 - The lowest offer in Iraq’s tender for 50,000 MT of hard wheat came in at 306 $/mt c&f for Australian wheat. Other offers were 309.95, 313.5, 318 and 340.48 $/mt c&f. The US wheat offers were at 332.17, 337 and 364.05 $/mt c&f. No offers were reported for Canadian wheat. The tender had requested wheat sourced from the US, Canada or Australia. The tender closed on Mar 19 and offers must remain valid up to Mar 25

- UAE last week bought 30,000 MT of Russian wheat at about 240 USD/т C&F

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending Mar 15, recorded 443,269 MT, near the upper end of trade expectations (325-450 TMT). Inspections for 2017/18 are running 7.6% behind of year-ago

- Russia’s Ag Min said Russia exported about 36.364 MMT of grain between July 1-Mar 14, 2017/18, up by 38.8% from 26.197 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 28.397 MMT (20.209 MMT in 2016/17);
  • barley – 4.158 MMT (2.203 MMT);
  • corn – 3.561 MMT (3.6 MMT)

- Russia has 3,963,600 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of Mar 16 vs. 4,005,600 MT a year ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min said that 99.7% winter crops were emerged; about 87% of emerged crops are in good and satisfactory condition

- Ukrainian grain stocks were at 19.032 MMT as of March 1, down 0.9% from a year earlier, incl. 6.255 MMT of wheat (6.05 MMT a year ago), 1.184 MMT of barley (1.589 MT a year ago) and 10.557 MMT of corn (10.611 MMT a year ago). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- MARS forecasts that average soft wheat yield in the EU would rise 1.4% this year to 6.2 mt/ha from 6.12 mt/ha in 2017 and 3.8% above the five-year mean

- Egypt has enough strategic wheat reserves to cover 3 months' needs

CORN

- Mar 21 - Jordan again seeks 100,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley

- Mar 19 - USDA announced export sales of 321,000 MT of US corn to Japan (206 TMT) for delivery during 2018/19 and to unknown destinations (115 TMT) for delivery during 2017/18

- Mar 19 - Argentina registered 107,800 MT of corn for export

- US corn export inspections for week, ending Mar 15, reported 1,409,281 MT, within market expectations (1.2-1.5 MMT). Inspections for 2017/18 are running 28.2% behind of year-ago

- MARS expects EU’s barley (winter and spring) yield at 5.02 mt/ha, up 2.5% from 2017 (4.89 mt/ha) and 2.2% above the five-year average

- Japan's February grain imports rose 32.1% on year to 2.038 MMT, incl. 1.166 MMT from the US (up by 23.9%)

- Japan's use of corn in animal feed rose to 47.9% in January 2018, up 0.5% point from prior month and by 1.8% point above year-ago level (46.1% in Jan 2017). Its use of barley fell to 3.4% from 3.5% month ago and 3.4% year ago; while wheat usage left at 1.7% (1.9% year-ago). Sorghum usage in feed rations declined to 2.1% in January (2.1% in Dec 2017) from 2.4% a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Apr 17 - Iran's GTC seeks 30,000 MT of soybean oil and 30,000 MT of sunflower oil for June shipment

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending Mar 15, reported 490,536 MT, below trade estimates (800-1050 TMT). Inspections for the 2017/18 marketing year are running 12.2% behind of year-ago

- Japan's February soybean imports fell 26.2% on year to 230,276 MT, incl. 203,105 MT from the US (down by 26%)

- Ukraine's Ag Min reports that 98.6% of Ukraine's winter rapeseed crops were emerged; about 89% of emerged crops are in good to satisfactory condition

- MARS expects EU’s rapeseed yield at 3.28 mt/ha, up 0.8% from 2017 (3.25 mt/ha) but 0.2% below the five-year average

- Ukrainian sunflower stocks were at 4.348 MMT as of March 1, down 8.7% from a year earlier (4.761 MMT). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Russia produced 849 TMT of sunflower oil during the first two months of 2018, up 1.4% from the same period last year

- Surveyor AmSpec Agri Malaysia estimated Malaysia's March 1-20 palm oil exports at 913,091 MT up 15.3% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's March 1-20 palm oil exports at 926,185 MT up 13.6% from a month ago
