WHEAT

- Nov 9 - Algeria’s OAIC seeks at least 50,000 MT of soft wheat for Dec shipment

- Nov 9 - Japan seeks 132,390 MT of food wheat for Dec-Jan shipments:

  • 10,660 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 20,410 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 26,925 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 50,370 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 24,025 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- Nov 7 - China sold 150,353 MT of wheat from state reserves or 7.5% of the offered amount (2,010,903 MT) at auction at average price of 2,497 RMB/mt (376 $/mt)

- Nov 7 - China auctioned 3,765 MT of imported wheat from state reserves, or 3% of the offered amount (124,216 MT) at average price of 2,518 RMB/mt (379 $/mt)

- Russia’s Ag Min said Russia exported about 16.86 MMT of grain between July 1-Nov 1, 2017/18, up by 28.4% from 13.134 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 13.015 MMT (10.606 MMT in 2016/17);
  • barley – 2.517 MMT (1.431 MMT);
  • corn – 1.229 MMT (1.028 MMT);
  • others – 99 TMT (69 TMT)

- Russia has 3,967,600 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of Nov 3 vs. 3,490,600 MT a year-ago

- Ukrainian farmers as of Nov 7 have sown 5.9 million hectares (96% of plan) for the 2018 wheat harvest, up from 5.8 mln ha at the same date a year earlier

- USDA attaché forecasts South Korea’s 2017/18 wheat imports at 4.6 MMT, incl. 2.6 MMT of milling and 2 MMT of feed wheat, (4.667 MMT in 2016/17), 100,000 MT more than USDA's official estimate

- Kazakhstan's farmers' union has asked the government to increase grain purchases into state reserves by 2-3 MMT this year to support depressed prices. The Kazakhstan government has not said how much grain it plans to buy this year. It has typically bought up to 5.5 MMT a year

CORN

- Nov 9 - Algeria seeks 19,000 MT of feed barley for Dec 1-15 shipment

- Nov 7 - Argentina registered for export 41,905 MT of corn and 23,000 MT of sorghum

- Nov 7 - USDA announced export sales of 130,000 MT of US corn for delivery to unknown destinations during 2017/18

- French group AGPM expects that France will produce 13.9 MMT of grain maize this year, up 12% compared with 2016, with yield at 10.3 mt/ha vs. 8.9 mt/ha in 2016

- China's State Development & Investment Corporation (SDIC) signed a framework agreement to build a 600,000-MT ethanol plant in Fujin city, Heilongjiang province. The new facility will use 1.85 MMT of corn a year. SDIC aims to produce 4-5 MMT of ethanol per year in the next 3-5 years

- Ukrainian farmers as of Nov 7 harvested 15.5 MMT of maize from 3.1 million hectares (or 69% from total area of 4.5 million ha) with yields at 4.99 mt/ha

- Ukrainian farmers as of Nov 7 have sown 815,000 hectares (88% of plan) for the 2018 barley harvest

- USDA attaché lowered forecast of South Korea’s 2017/18 corn import to 9.7 MMT, decreasing by half a million MT from initial forecast of 10.2 MMT, as the Korean government plans to release 750,000 MT of brown rice for animal feed in CY 2018 to reduce government held rice stocks

SOYBEAN

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier lowered his forecast of Brazil’s 2017/18 soybean crop this week by 2 MMT to 107 MMT (114 MMT in 2016/17)

- Carbio expects Argentina to export at least 500,000 MT of biodiesel to the EU in 2018, after the bloc in September slashed the import duties

- Indian export of oilmeals during April-October 2017/18 rose 95% to over 1.359 MMT compared to 698 TMT during the same period of last season. Indian Apr-Oct 2017/18 soymeal exports are estimated at 537,145 MT vs. 107,110 MT during the same period of last season

- Indian Apr-Oct 2017/18 rapeseed meal exports are estimated at 317,691 MT vs. 161,272 MT during the same period of last season

- Ukrainian farmers as of Nov 7 harvested 11.3 MMT of sunseed from 5.7 million hectares (97% of plan) with yields of 1.97 mt/ha

- Ukrainian farmers as of Nov 7 harvested 3.4 MMT of soybeans from 1.8 million hectares (89% of plan) with yields of 1.9 mt/ha
