WHEAT

- Nov 28 - Ethiopia seeks around 200,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat

- Nov 10 - Morocco’s ONICL tenders to buy 30,000 MT of soft wheat and 327,273 MT of durum wheat from the US under an annual preferential-tariff quota for arrival by Dec 31

- Algeria's OAIC seeks at least 50,000 MT of optional-origin durum wheat

- Oct 24 - China sold 70,418 MT of wheat from state reserves or 3.5% of the offered amount (2,021,015 MT) at auction at average price of 2,507 RMB/mt (377 $/mt)

- Oct 24 - China auctioned 2,100 MT of imported wheat from state reserves, or 1.5% of the offered amount (140,292 MT) at average price of 2,617 RMB/mt (394 $/mt)

- Oct 22 - Iraq purchased 50,000 MT of hard wheat from the US at 299 $/mt c&f free out. The tender had closed on Oct 16 with offers remaining valid until Oct 22. Shipment and delivery period is 75 days after the opening of a letter of credit on the purchase

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending Oct 19, recorded 169,750 MT, below a range of trade expectations for 300,000-500,000 MT. Inspections for 2017/18 are running 4.5% behind of year-ago

- USDA said the US winter wheat crop 75% planted as of Oct 22, ahead of analysts’ expectations (73%) but below last-year's (78%) and 5-year average (80%)

- Indian government has decided to raise the 2018 local wheat purchasing price by 110 rupees from last season to 1,735 rupees per 100 kilograms (266.6 $/mt)

- Egypt will issue a streamlined guide on wheat imports within two weeks that will detail all specifications, procedures, and regulations for traders

- Egypt has enough strategic wheat reserves to cover 4 months' needs. The two Romanian and French wheat cargoes that were held over containing poppy seeds have been released and will be added to strategic stocks

- MARS upped its yield estimate for this year's EU soft wheat to 5.94 mt/ha from 5.86 mt/ha in Sept, up 6.9% from last year and 1.8% above the five-year mean

- Coceral lowered its estimate for EU-28’s 2017 soft wheat crop by 1 MMT to 141.121 MMT (135.502 MMT in 2016)

- UK exported 55,613 MT of wheat in August, more than 16,254 MT in July but down 74.6% from a year-ago. Cumulative exports for the season 2017/18, which started on July 1, 2017, totalled 71,871 MT, down from 423,873 MT during the same period prior season

- UK imported 135,395 MT of wheat in August, down from 155,525 MT in July and down 11.8% from a year-ago. Britain’s Jul-Aug wheat imports totalled 290,921 MT, up from 273,679 MT a year ago

- China's September wheat imports down 1.2% on year to 426,778 MT. China's Jan-Sept wheat imports rose 24.7% on year to 3.567 MMT (1.69 MMT from Australia and 1.37 MMT from the US)

CORN

- Oct 25 - Japan received no offers for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley in a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction. New SBS tender for the same amounts for each grain will be held on Nov 1

- Oct 24 - Jordan has made no purchase in an international tender for 100,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley for Jan-Feb shipment

- US corn export inspections for week, ending Oct 19, reported 614,075 MT, within market expectations (500-800 TMT). Inspections for 2017/18 are running 45.9% behind of year-ago

- USDA rated 66% of the US corn crop in good-to-excellent condition as of Oct 22, up 1% point from the previous week, ahead of market expectation for 65% but down compared to 74% a year-ago. USDA estimated 38% of the US corn crop had been harvested, behind of analyst forecasts of 44%, also below last year’s pace (59%) and 5-year mean of 59%

- The US Commerce Department set preliminary antidumping duties on imports of biodiesel from Argentina and Indonesia. The antidumping duties set range 54.36-70.05% on soy-based biodiesel from Argentina, and 50.71% on palm oil biodiesel from Indonesia

- MARS lowered its yield forecast for this year's EU corn to 6.91 mt/ha from 6.99 mt/ha last month, down 3.3% from 2016 (7.14 mt/ha), but 0.2% above the five-year average

- Coceral upped its EU-28’s 2017 corn production forecast to 59.799 MMT from 59.26 MMT in Sept, down vs. 60.777 MMT in 2016

- China's September barley imports rose 12.8% on year to 937,660 MT. China's Jan-Sept barley imports rose 80.3% on year to 6.957 MMT (5.468 MMT from Australia, 1.038 MMT from Canada and 437,922 MT from Ukraine)

- China imported 259,892 MT of sorghum in September, down 42.3% from a year-ago. China's Jan-Sept sorghum imports fell 25.3% on year to 4.241 MMT (mostly from the US)

SOYBEAN

- Nov 29 - Iran's SLAL seeks 120,000 MT of soymeal from Argentina or Brazil in two consignments for shipment Dec 22-Jan 21 and Feb 9-Mar 11

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending Oct 19, reported 2,562,444 MT, topping a range of trade estimates (1.3-1.9 MMT). Inspections for the 2017/18 marketing year are running 7.9% behind of year-ago

- USDA estimated 70% of the US soybean crop was harvested as of Oct 22, ahead of analysts' forecasts (64% – average), but below last year’s pace (74%) and 5-year mean of 73%

- China imported 8.113 MMT of soybeans during September up 12.7% from year-ago. China's Jan-Sept soybean imports rose 15.5% on year to 71,451 MMT (42.85 MMT from Brazil and 20.679 MMT from the US)
