- Oct 19 - Egypt's GASC bought 230,000 MT of wheat from Russia for December 1-10 shipment:

- Oct 19 - Japan bought 123,736 MT of food wheat for Nov-Jan shipments:

  • 12,762 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 21,695 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 30,201 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 34,928 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 24,150 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- Oct 18 - Jordan has made no purchase in an international tender for 100,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat for Jan-Feb shipment and may retender on Oct 25

- Oct 17 - Israeli group bought around 10,000 MT of feed wheat at 194.75 $/mt c&f for January shipment

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Oct 12 totalled 615,400 MT for 2017/18 (topped trade expectations of 250-450 TMT). Export commitments for 2017/18 are running 4% behind of year-ago

- EU in week ended Oct 13 awarded licenses to import 72,843 MT of common wheat under an annual duty-free quota open to other origins, excl. the US and Canada

- According to TAXUD, the EU this season in period of July 1-Oct 17, 2017/18 exported 5.671 MMT of soft wheat compared to 8.173 MMT a year ago

- Ukrainian Ag Min expects Ukraine to export 16.5 MMT of wheat in the 2017/18 season. The ministry and traders signed a memorandum on wheat export volumes for this season

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported 11.704 MMT of grain between July 1-Oct 18, 2017/18 vs. 11.927 MMT for the same period last season, including:

  • wheat – 6.97 MMT (vs. 7.58 MMT a year ago);
  • corn – 1.36 MMT (0.91 MMT);
  • barley – 3.34 MMT (3.39 MMT)

- SovEcon raised its forecast for Russia's 2017/18 grain exports by 0.5 MMT to 44.5 MMT. Russian wheat export forecast was upped to 33.9 MMT from 32.4 MMT previously, barley exports were increased to 4.5 MMT from 4.3 MMT, while corn exports were seen at 4.5 MMT down from 5.7 MMT

- Russian grain stocks were at 57.775 MMT as of Oct 1, 2017, up 16.5% from a year earlier (49.605 MMT as of Oct 1, 2016). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Kazakh farmers harvested 21.822 MMT of all grains as of Oct 19, up from 21.377 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.43 mt/ha down from 1.51 mt/ha a year ago

- Kazakhstan’s grain stocks as of Oct 1, 2017 accounted 18.0 MMT, including 14.668 MMT of wheat thereof 13.096 MMT of milling wheat compared to 14.595 MMT (incl. 11.746 MMT of wheat thereof 10.425 MMT of milling) a year ago

- Geneva-based grain trading firm Grainbow has filed a case in an Egyptian administrative court to sue Egypt’s state grain buyer GASC in matters relating to a Russian wheat sale that saw additional costs incurred due to inspection problems. The claim seeks $1.2 million to be paid from GASC

- US Wheat Associates is closing its office in Cairo, Egypt by Dec 1, after about 40 years

- Oct 19 - Argentina registered for export 57,800 MT of corn and 11,000 MT of feed barley

- Oct 18 - South Korea's Feed Leaders Committee (FLC) in a private deal bought 65,000 MT of optional-origin corn at 188.5 $/mt c&f for Feb 20 arrival

- Oct 17 - Israeli group has made no purchase in an international tender for 10,000 MT of feed barley for January shipment

- Oct 17 - Jordan has made no purchase in an international tender for 100,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley for Jan-Feb shipment and may retender on Oct 24

- Oct 19 - China sold a total 754,680 MT of corn from state reserves via auctions:

  • 92,388 MT of 2013 corn, or 100% of the offered amount at average price of 1,433 RMB/mt (216 $/mt);
