- Oct 16 - Iraq seeks at least 50,000 MT of hard wheat from the US, Canada or Australia. The tender closes on Oct 16 and offers must remain valid up to Oct 22

- Oct 4 - Jordan bought 50,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat from Nibulon at 229 $/mt c&f for Feb 16-28 shipment

- Oct 3 - Tunisia's state grains agency bought 100,000 MT of optional-origin durum wheat from Glencore at 286.29 $/mt c&f; 289.29 $/mt c&f and from Ameropa at 288.39 $/mt c&f; 289.69 $/mt c&f for Oct-Nov shipment

- Oct 3 - Egypt's GASC bought 180,000 MT of wheat from Russia for November 5-15 shipment:

  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Grant Logistics at 212.75 $/mt c&f (197.95 fob+14.80 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Friends at 213.00 $/mt c&f (200.00 fob+13.00 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Friends at 213.80 $/mt c&f (199.00 fob+14.80 freight)

- Oct 4 - Argentina registered 25,690 MT of wheat for export

- Oct 3 - Argentina registered 21,740 MT of wheat for export

- Indian government is likely to raise import duty on wheat to 20-25% from 10% to curb cheap shipments and give positive price signal to farmers

- Ukrainian farmers as of Oct 3 have sown 4.3 million hectares (69% of plan) for the 2018 wheat harvest. At this time last year 3.4 million hectares had been planted

- Oct 11 - Turkey's TMO seeks 96,000 MT of barley (8x12 TMT) for Oct 17-Nov 7 shipment

- Oct 3 - Jordan bought 50,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley at 218 $/mt c&f from GTCS for Dec 16-31 shipment

- Oct 3 - Tunisia's state grains agency bought 25,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley from Bunge at 209.55 $/mt c&f for Oct-Nov shipment

- Oct 4 - Japan received no offers for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley in a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction. New SBS tender for the same amounts for each grain will be held on Oct 11

- Oct 4 - Argentina registered 79,325 MT of corn for export

- Oct 3 - Argentina registered 46,906 MT of corn for export

- Oct 3 - Argentina registered 22,200 MT of malt for export

- FCStone raised its forecast of the US 2017 corn yield to 169.2 bushels per acre, from 166.9 in its previous report. The production forecast was lifted from 13.94 to 14.13 bln bushels

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier raised his US corn yield projection by 2 bushel per acre (bpa) from last week to 168 bpa

- Saudi Arabia expects to reduce its import of barley to 8 MMT this marketing year from 9.1 MMT previously, because plans to substitute some of its domestic barley consumption with corn and soybeans

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 108,785 MT of corn via port Varna between Sept 4-Oct 1, 2017/18, up 254.3% from a year-ago (30,705 MT)

- Farmers in Bulgaria harvested 1.425 MMT of corn from 59% of the planned area as of Sept 28, up 1.9% from last-year stage. Yields totals 5.81 mt/ha, 12.8% higher than a year-ago

- Ukrainian farmers as of Oct 3 harvested 4.2 MMT of maize from 1 million hectares (or 22% from total area of 4.5 million ha) with yields at 4.18 mt/ha

- Ukrainian farmers as of Oct 3 have sown 251,000 hectares (27% of plan) for the 2018 barley harvest. The area under winter barley is likely to total 926,000 hectares

- Ukraine exported 119 TMT of corn in September 2017, up 76% on year

- Ukraine exported 1.16 MMT of barley in September 2017, up 22.5% on year. Ukraine's July-Sept 2017/18 barley exports fell 0.6% on year to 3.15 MMT

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Sept 29 rose by 14,000 barrels to 1,010,000 barrels per day, up 3% from last year's level of 980,000 bpd. Stocks climbed by 805,000 barrels from the week prior to 21.545 million barrels, up 6.8% vs. 20.177 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Oct 4 - Argentina registered for export 30,500 MT of soybeans, 36,278 MT of soybean oil and 7,000 MT of soymeal

- FCStone raised its forecast of the US 2017 soybean yield to 49.9 bpa, from 49.8 in its previous monthly report. The production forecast was lifted from 4.418 to 4.42 bln bushels (120.2 MMT)

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier upped his US soybean yield projection by 1 bushel per acre (bpa) from last week to 49 bpa

- Abiove kept its forecasts of Brazil's 2018 soybean crop at 108.5 MMT (113.8 MMT in 2017) and soybean exports at a record 65 MMT (64 MMT in 2017)

- Farmers in Bulgaria harvested 1.715 MMT of sunseed from 92% of the planned area as of Sept 28, up 7.2% from last-year stage, with yields at 2.29 mt/ha, 1.8% higher than a year-ago

- Ukrainian farmers as of Oct 3 harvested 8.4 MMT of sunseed from 4.4 million hectares (75% of plan) with yields of 1.9 mt/ha
