CORN

- Taiwan seeks 56,000 MT of corn from for Dec shipment

- Sept 27 - China sold 23,766 MT of corn from state reserves, or 12.9% of the offered amount (184,420 MT), at average price of 1,290 RMB/mt (194 $/mt)

- Sept 27 - Japan received no offers for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley in a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction. New SBS tender for the same amounts for each grain will be held on Oct 4

- Sept 27 - Argentina registered for export 50,440 MT of corn

- Sept 26 - Argentina registered for export 40,748 MT of corn and 9,000 MT of malting barley

- USDA to issue last quarterly stocks report on Friday, Sept 29. Analysts expect US corn stocks as of Sept 1 to be pegged at 2.353 billion bushels, which would be the largest Sept 1 stocks since 1988, if realized

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier forecasts that South America will harvest 135 MMT of corn in 2017/18, 5.8% less compared to year-ago (143.3 MMT), incl.:

  • Brazil – 88 MMT (97.7 MMT in 2016/17);
  • Argentina – 42 MMT (41 MMT);
  • Paraguay – 3.7 MMT (3.3 MMT)

- SAGIS estimated South Africa's corn stocks as of August 31 were at 10.792 MMT vs. 10.516 MMT a month ago and 5.353 MMT a year ago

- SAGIS estimated S. Africa's August corn exports at 377,805 MT. May-August exports rose 299.6% on year to 2.244 MMT

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Sept 22 decreased by 37,000 barrels to 996,000 barrels per day, up 0.7% from last year's level of 989,000 bpd. Stocks fell by 398,000 barrels from the week prior to 20.74 million barrels, up 0.8% vs. 20.578 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Sept 27 - USDA announced export sales of 132,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2017/18

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier forecasts that South America will harvest 179.6 MMT of soybean in 2017/18, down 4.3% compared to year-ago (187.7 MMT), incl.:

  • Brazil – 109 MMT (114 MMT in 2016/17);
  • Argentina – 55 MMT (57.8 MMT);
  • Paraguay – 10 MMT (10.6 MMT);
  • Uruguay – 3.0 MMT (3.2 MMT);
  • Bolivia – 2.6 MMT (2.1 MMT)

- Farmers in Bulgaria harvested 1.553 MMT of sunseed from 84% of the planned area as of Sept 21, with yields at 2.28 mt/ha

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 31,472 MT of sunflower via port Varna between Sept 4-24, 2017/18, up 58.1% from a year-ago (19,907 MT)
