WHEAT

- Sept 19 - Egypt's GASC bought 175,000 MT of wheat from Russia for October 21-31 shipment:

  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from ADM at 210.5 $/mt c&f (195 fob+15.5 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from GTCS at 212.2 $/mt c&f (198 fob+14.2 freight);
  • 55,000 MT of Russian wheat from GTCS at 213.25 $/mt c&f (197 fob+16.25 freight)

- Taiwan Flour Millers Association signed an agreement last week to purchase 2.8 MMT of US wheat in 2018 and 2019

- Statistics Canada raised its 2017 crop estimate for all-wheat to 27.13 MMT from 25.541 MMT in August but down 14.5% from 2016; incl. spring wheat at 20.076 MMT (18.889 MMT last month, down 1.8% from 2016) and durum at 4.299 MMT (3.898 MMT last month, down 44.6% from 2016)

- Japan's August grain imports fell 6.6% on year to 1.973 MMT, incl. 1.504 MMT from the US (-4.6%)

- Russian grain stocks were at 51.05 MMT as of Sept 1, 2017, up 10.5% from a year earlier (46.19 MMT as of Sept 1, 2016). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Ukrainian grain stocks were at 23.345 MMT as of Sept 1, down 4.5% from a year earlier, incl. 16.783 MMT of wheat (17.703 MMT a year ago), 3.264 MMT of barley (4.058 MT a year ago) and 1.608 MMT of corn (1.335 MMT a year ago). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

CORN

- Sept 26 - Jordan seeks 100,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley

- Sept 19 - South Korea’s Major Feedmill Group (MFG) bought 69,000 MT of optional-origin corn from Cargill at 187.25 $/mt c&f plus a 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for Dec 28 arrival

- Sept 19 - Tunisia's state grains agency bought 50,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley for Oct-Nov shipment:

  • 25,000 MT of feed barley from Olam at 200.69 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT of feed barley from Lecureur at 206 $/mt c&f

- Sept 20 - Japan bought 5,190 MT of feed grain (90 MT of wheat and 5,100 MT of barley) for February 28, 2018, arrival via SBS-tender. New SBS tender for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley will be held on Sept 27

- Taiwan delegation signed agreements last week to purchase 5 MMT (197 million bushels) of US corn and 500,000 MT of US distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) between 2018 and 2019

- Statistics Canada raised its 2017 crop estimates for corn for grain to 14.313 MMT from 13.645 MMT in August, up 8.5% from 2016; for barley to 7.306 MMT from 7.212 MMT last month, down 16.8% from 2016; and for oats to 3.802 MMT (vs. 3.685 MMT in Aug, up 19% from 2016)

- Japan's use of corn in animal feed fell to 46.6% in July from 46.8% in June but by 0.4% point above year-ago level (46.2% in July 2016). Its use of barley rose to 3.6% from 3.5% month and year ago; while wheat usage left at 1.9% (1.8% a year-ago). Sorghum usage in feed rations declined to 2.1% in July (2.2% in June) from 2.5% a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Sept 19 - Argentina registered for export 11,000 MT of soybeans and 78,175 MT of soymeal

- Pakistan recently bought about 65,000 MT of Canadian canola at around 472 $/mt c&f for Nov-Dec shipment

- Statistics Canada raised its 2017 crop estimates for canola to a record 19.708 MMT from 18.203 MMT in August, up 0.5% over 2016; for soybeans to a record 8.321 MMT from 7.743 MMT last month, up 28.8% from 2016

- Japan's August soybean imports rose 58.9% on year to 252,166 MT, incl. 135,614 MT from the US (+19.2%)

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's September 1-20 palm oil exports at 852,206 MT up 25.4% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's September 1-20 palm oil exports at 878,422 MT up 26.8% from a month ago

- Ukrainian sunflower stocks were at 672 TMT as of Sept 1, down 5.1% from a year earlier (708 TMT). The data does not include grain stored at small farms
