- Aug 18 - Saudi Arabia seeks 480,000 MT of wheat for Oct-Dec shipment

- Aug 17 - The only offer in Bangladesh’s tender for 50,000 MT of wheat came in at 249.38 $/mt CIF liner out from Agrocorp International

- Aug 16 - Egypt's GASC bought 355,000 MT of wheat from Russia (295 TMT) and Ukraine (60 TMT) for September 20-30 shipment:

  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Louis Dreyfus at 207.40 $/mt c&f (193.80 fob+13.60 freight);
  • 55,000 MT of Russian wheat from Union at 208.25 $/mt c&f (192.20 fob+16.05 freight);
  • 120,000 MT of Russian wheat from Union at 209.35 $/mt c&f (193.80 fob+15.55 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from ECTP at 209.35 $/mt c&f (193.80 fob+15.55 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat from Louis Dreyfus at 210.23 $/mt c&f (193.80 fob+16.43 freight)

- Aug 16 - Tunisia's state grains agency bought 100,000 MT of optional-origin soft milling wheat, 11.5% protein, for Sept-Oct shipment:

  • 25,000 MT of soft milling wheat from Soufflet at 193.74 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT of soft milling wheat from Glencore at 190.99 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT of soft milling wheat from Louis Dreyfus at 193.00 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT of soft milling wheat from Louis Dreyfus at 193.25 $/mt c&f

- Indonesian buyers recently bought 25,000 MT of Canadian spring wheat at around 320-325 $/mt c&f for Oct shipment

- Aug 16 - Jordan has made no purchase in an international tender for 100,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat for January shipment and may retender on Aug 23

- Aug 17 - China sold 17,691 MT of 2012 wheat from state reserves or 1.5% of the offered amount (1,215,408 MT) at auction at average price of 2,386 RMB/mt (358 $/mt)

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Aug 10 totalled 633,600 MT for 2017/18 (topped trade expectations of 300-600 TMT). Export commitments for 2017/18 are running in line with a year-ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported 4.265 MMT of grain between July 1-Aug 16, 2017/18, including:

  • wheat – 1.824 MMT;
  • corn – 995 TMT;
  • barley – 1.436 MMT

- Kazakh farmers harvested 2.058 MMT of all grains as of August 17, up over 1.895 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.94 mt/ha down from 2.06 mt/ha a year ago

- Kazakhstan’s grain stocks as of Aug 1, 2017 accounted 4.185 MMT, including 3.681 MMT of wheat thereof 3.318 MMT of milling wheat compared to 2.959 MMT (incl. 2.585 MMT of wheat thereof 2.34 MMT of milling) a year ago

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 411,951 MT of wheat via port Varna between July 3-Aug 13, 2017/18, down 19.9% from a year-ago (514,320 MT)

- Farmers in Bulgaria harvested 5.71 MMT of wheat from 99% of the planned area as of Aug 10, up 7.3% from last-year stage, with yields at 5.26 mt/ha, 10.7% higher than a year-ago

- Bulgaria's Jul-May 2016/17 wheat exports are estimated at 4.055 MMT, up 20.5% from year-ago

- India’s 2016/17 wheat production is expected to be a record 98.38 MMT against the target of 96.50 MMT

- Britain's wheat imports rose in June to the highest monthly level in the 2016/17 season, far outpacing exports. Imports in June climbed to 251,538 MT, bringing the total for the 2016/17 season (July-June) to 1.916 MMT, up from 1.504 MMT in 2015/16. Canada was the biggest source of wheat for the season with 361 TMT, followed by France (309 TMT) and Denmark (299 TMT)

- Japan's July grain imports rose 1.2% on year to 1.936 MMT, incl. 1.472 MMT from the US (+6.6%)

- Bangladesh will slash the duty on rice imports to 2% from 10%, down from 28% in June, to cool high local prices

CORN

- Aug 17 - China sold a total 150,099 MT of corn from state reserves via auctions:

  • 15,000 MT of 2013 corn, or 3% of the offered amount (505,987 MT), at average price of 1,250 RMB/mt (187 $/mt);
  • 123,811 MT of 2014 corn, or 40.7% of the offered amount (304,083 MT) at average price of 1,420 RMB/mt (213 $/mt)

- Aug 16 - Tunisia's state grains agency has made no purchase in an international tender for 50,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley for Sept-Oct shipment

- Aug 16 - Argentina registered 251,000 MT of corn for export

- Aug 16 - Argentina registered 30,500 MT of malting barley for export

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Aug 10 of 734,200 MT (within trade expectations of 400-900 TMT), incl. 62,400 MT for 2016/17 and 671,800 MT for 2017/18. Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 13% ahead of year-ago

- India’s 2016/17 maize production is estimated to be 26.26 MMT, which is much higher than 22.57 MMT in 2015/16. Production of pulses is projected at 22.95 MMT in 2016/17, 40% more than 16.35 MMT in the previous year

- Farmers in Bulgaria harvested 619,113 MT of barley from 99.6% of the planned area as of Aug 10, down 13.67% from last-year stage. Meanwhile yields totals 4.75 mt/ha, 7.5% higher than a year-ago

- Bulgaria's Sep-May 2016/17 corn exports are estimated at 883,200 MT, down 28.5% from year-ago. While imports increased to 246,600 MT

- Bulgaria's Jul-May 2016/17 barley exports are estimated at 283,900 MT, down 36.2% from year-ago

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Aug 11 rose by 47,000 barrels to 1,059,000 barrels per day, up 2.9% from last year's level of 1,029,000 bpd. Stocks climbed by 481,000 barrels from the week prior to 21.828 million barrels, up 6.9% vs. 20.425 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Aug 16 - Argentina registered for export 9,000 MT of soybean oil and 25 MT of soymeal

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended Aug 10 of 1,352,600 MT (topped market estimates of 350-850 TMT), incl. 453,200 MT for 2016/17 and 899,400 MT for 2017/18. Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 16% ahead of year-ago

- A delegation of Chinese importers signed deals to buy 3.8 MMT of US soybeans at a ceremony in Omaha, Nebraska. Last month, another Chinese trade delegation signed deals to buy 12.53 MMT of US soybeans at a ceremony in Des Moines, Iowa

- NOPA said its members crushed 144.718 million bushels of soybeans during July, more than expected (143.004 million bu – avg., 141.5-146 mln bu – range). NOPA processors crashed 138.074 mln bu in June and 143.715 mln bu a year ago. Soyoil stocks fell to 1.558 billion lbs as of July 31 from 1.703 a month earlier, below the average expectations of 1.623 billion lbs and last year’s level of 1.743 billion lbs. Soymeal exports rose to 596,767 tons from 562,684 tons in June and vs. 579,417 tons a year-ago

- Japan's July soybean imports rose 13.5% on year to 286,137 MT, incl. 139,165 MT from the US (+2.4%)

- Malaysia will maintain its crude palm oil export tax at 5.5% in September, the same rate as the previous month. Malaysia calculated a reference price of 2,677.91 MYR/mt (624 $/mt) for September

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 17,082 MT of rapeseed via port Varna between July 3-Aug 13, 2017/18, down 74.9% from a year-ago (67,927 MT)

- Farmers in Bulgaria harvested 455,979 MT of rapeseed from 99% of the planned area as of Aug 10, down 7,5% from last-year stage. Yields totals 2.85 mt/ha, 3.1% lower than a year-ago

- Bulgaria's Jul-May 2016/17 rapeseed exports are estimated at 489,700 MT, up 53.5% from year-ago
