WHEAT

- Aug 9 - Jordan seeks 100,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat for shipment Dec 1-15, 2017, and Jan 1-31, 2018

- Aug 3 - Japan bought 132,925 MT of food wheat for Sept-Oct shipments:

  • 11,840 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 13,300 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 24,940 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 49,665 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 33,180 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- Aug 2 - Jordan bought 50,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat from CHS at 226.6 $/mt c&f for Dec 16-31 shipment

- Aug 2 - Argentina registered 260,840 MT of wheat for export

- Aug 3 - China sold 15,913 MT of 2012 wheat from state reserves or 1.3% of the offered amount (1,251,637 MT) at auction at average price of 2,393 RMB/mt (356 $/mt)

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended July 27 totalled 145,500 MT for 2017/18 (below trade expectations of 300-500 TMT). Export commitments for 2017/18 are running in line with a year-ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported 2.74 MMT of grain between July 1-Aug 3, 2017/18, up 6.2% from 2.58 MMT for the same period last season, including:

  • wheat – 891 TMT (vs. 903 TMT a year ago);
  • corn – 859 TMT (437 TMT);
  • barley – 991 TMT (1.242 MMT)

- According to TAXUD, the EU this season in period of July 1-Aug 1, 2017/18 exported 940,663 MT of soft wheat compared to 2.623 MMT a year ago

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 156,432 MT of wheat via port Varna between July 3-30, 2017/18, down 41.4% from a year-ago (266,818 MT)

- Farmers in Bulgaria harvested 5.145 MMT of wheat as of July 27, down 0.7% from last-year stage. Meanwhile yields on this stage totals 5.27 mt/ha, 10% higher than a year-ago

- Kazakh farmers harvested 1.186 MMT of all grains as of August 3, down from 1.198 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.03 mt/ha up from 2.18 mt/ha a year ago

- USDA attaché forecasts Argentina’s 2017/18 wheat production at 16.65 MMT (17.5 MMT in 2016/17), 850,000 MT lower than USDA's official estimate, and exports at 10.5 MMT (11.5 MMT in 2016/17), 1 MMT lower than USDA's official projection

CORN

- Aug 3 - Jordan has made no purchase in an international tender for 100,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley for December shipment and may retender on Aug 10

- Aug 3 - China sold 72,885 MT of 2014 corn from state reserves, or 12.2% of the offered amount (597,552 MT), at average price of 1,439 RMB/mt (214 $/mt); China failed to sell 2013 corn from state reserves; at the auction was offered 526,073 MT

- Aug 2 - Argentina registered 590,000 MT of corn for export

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended July 27 of 475,000 MT (below trade expectations of 500-900 TMT), incl. 36,700 MT for 2016/17 and 438,300 MT for 2017/18. Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 15% ahead of year-ago

- USDA attaché forecasts Argentina’s 2017/18 barley production at 2.8 MMT (3.3 MMT in 2016/17), 200,000 MT lower than USDA's official estimate, and exports at 1.6 MMT (2.5 MMT in 2016/17), 100,000 MT lower than USDA's official projection

- US Ethanol production for the week ended July 28 fell by 10,000 barrels to 1,002,000 barrels per day, slightly below last year's level of 1,004,000 bpd. Stocks fell by 677,000 barrels from the week prior to 20.852 million barrels, up 1.2% vs. 20.603 million barrels a year ago
