WHEAT

- Aug 17 - Bangladesh seeks 50,000 MT of optional origin milling wheat for shipping within 40 days of the signing of the contract

- Aug 2 - Japan bought 53,885 MT of feed grain (39,540 MT of wheat and 14,345 MT of barley) for January 31, 2018, arrival via SBS-tender. New SBS tender for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley will be held on August 9

- Argentina in July registered for export 577,907 MT of wheat and 49,744 MT of wheat flour

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 19.1 MMT of wheat from 77% of the planned area as of August 1, down from 21.5 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 3.9 mt/ha versus 4.13 mt/ha a year ago

- Russia’s Ag Min said Russia exported about 1.642 MMT of grain between July 1-26, 2017/18, down by 4.3% from 1.716 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 791 TMT (1.249 MMT in 2016/17);
  • barley – 486 TMT (436 TMT);
  • corn – 353 TMT (18 TMT);
  • others – 12 TMT (13 TMT)

- Russia has 3,993,100 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of July 28 vs. 3,259,900 MT a year-ago

- Aug 2 - Bangladesh signed an agreement with Cambodia to purchase 1 MMT of rice within the next five years

CORN

- Argentina in July registered 2.009 MMT of corn for export

- Argentina in July registered for export 12,500 MT of feed barley, 38,852 MT of malting barley and 36,141 MT of malt

- Argentina in July registered 66,163 MT of sorghum for export

- FCStone forecast this year's corn harvest at 13.590 billion bushels with an average yield of 162.8 bushels per acre (bpa). The figures fell below the USDA's forecast for a corn crop of 14.255 billion bushels with a yield of 170.4 bpa

- Brazil’s Trade Ministry reported July corn exports at 2.323 MMT, up from 563,207 MT in June and above than 1.046 MMT in the year-ago month

- Brazil’s Trade Ministry reported July ethanol exports at 156.1 million litres, down from 160.1 mln litres in June and down from 219 mln litres last July

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 6.7 MMT of barley from 81% of the planned area as of August 1, down from 8.5 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 3.25 mt/ha down from 3.34 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 986 TMT of peas from 93% of the planned area as of August 1, up from 714 TMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.6 mt/ha versus 3.16 mt/ha a year ago

- US corn consumed for alcohol and other uses was 490 million bushels in June 2017, down 4% from May 2017 but up 2% from June 2016

- US dry mill co-product production of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGs) was 1.82 million tons during June 2017, down 5% from May 2017 and down 4% from June 2016

- US wet mill corn gluten feed production was 341 thousand tons during June 2017, steady from May 2017 and up 3% from June 2016

SOYBEAN

- Aug 1 - Argentina registered 40,200 MT of soymeal for export

- Argentina in July registered for export 1.262 MMT of soybeans, 2.231 MMT of soymeal and 294,477 MT of soybean oil

- Argentina in July registered for export 52,689 MT of sunflower oil and 100,255 MT of sunflower meal

- FCStone projected US 2017 soybean production at 4.235 billion bushels, with an average yield of 47.7 bpa. The figures compare with the USDA's current forecast for a 4.260-billion-bushel crop with a yield of 48.0 bpa

- USDA estimated US June soybean crush for crude oil at 4.624 million short tons (154.1 mln bu), a 2.4% decrease from May, but above the average market expectation (4.407 mln tons, or 146.9 mln bu) and matching last year level. Crude soyoil stocks fell to 1.815 billion lbs as of June 30 from 1.889 in May, below the 2.043 bln lbs a year ago, while refined oil stocks were at 327.785 million lbs as of June 30 vs. 380.538 in May and 381.396 in June 2016. June US soy cake and meal stocks fell to 314,965 tons from 375,156 in May and vs. 281,038 tons a year-ago

- Brazil’s Trade Ministry reported July soybean exports at 6.955 MMT, down from 9.197 MT in June but above than 5.787 MMT a year ago. Also Brazil exported 1.156 MMT of soymeal in July versus 1.391 MMT the month before and 1.386 MMT a year ago; and 137,305 MT of soyoil compared to 164,945 MT in June and 73,831 MT a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 1.9 MMT of rapeseed from 90% of the planned area as of August 1, up from 1.1 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.68 mt/ha versus 2.63 mt/ha a year ago
