- Aug 6 - Bangladesh seeks 50,000 MT of optional origin milling wheat for shipping within 40 days of the signing of the contract

- July 25 - Algeria's OAIC seeks at least 50,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat for October shipment

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending July 20, recorded 451,665 MT, at the lower end of expectations. Inspections for 2017/18 are running 18.8% ahead of year-ago

- USDA estimated 84% of the wheat harvest was complete by July 23, matching analysts' expectations, above last year’s pace of 82% and the 5-year mean of 80%

- USDA rated 33% of the US spring wheat crop in good-to-excellent condition as of July 23, down from 34% a week earlier and vs. 68% a year-ago, but in line with analysts' expectations

- July 24 - USDA announced export sales of 135,000 MT of US corn for delivery to unknown destinations during 2017/18

- July 21 - Saudi Arabia's SAGO (Saudi Grains Organisation) bought 900,000 MT of feed barley of Australia, North and South America, EU and Black Sea origin at an average price of 204.99 $/mt c&f in 15 consignments for Sept-Oct 2017 shipment to the Red Sea ports (600 TMT) and the Gulf ports (300 TMT):

- July 21 - Argentina registered 155,057 MT of corn for export

- Zambia will export 100,000 MT of maize to three east African states facing a shortage, with the bulk of the grain going to Kenya. Zambia this year produced about 3.6 MMT of maize and had a surplus of 1.4 MMT which was available for export

- US corn export inspections for week, ending July 20, reported 935,262 MT, within market forecasts (0.75-1.175 MMT). Inspections for 2016/17 are running 32.6% ahead of year-ago

- USDA rated 62% of the US corn crop as good-to-excellent as of July 23, down 2% points from the previous week and compared to 76% a year-ago, slightly below analysts' forecast (63%)

- China imported 383,093 MT of corn in June, up 472% year on year and up 807% from last month's 42,219 MT. Ukraine got the bulk of the business. China's Jan-June corn imports fell 74.7% on year to 735,236 MT

- China imported 39,386 MT of distillers' dried grains (DDGS) in June, down 30.5% from May and down 83.3% from a year-ago. China's Jan-June DDGS imports fell 77.8% on year to 342,195 MT

- China's June ethanol imports fell to only 15 cubic metres. Meanwhile China's June ethanol exports jumped more than 10 times from a year ago to 18,324 cubic metres, the highest monthly volume since China began ramping up exports at the start of the year. In the first half of this year, ethanol shipments jumped to 77,327 cubic metres, up 524% from a year ago

- China's June barley imports rose 30% on year to 626,320 MT. China's Jan-June barley imports rose 106% on year to 4.52 MMT

- MARS cut its yield forecast for this year's EU corn to 6.83 mt/ha from 7.14 mt/ha last month, down 3.9% from 2016 (7.1 mt/ha) and 0.9% below the five-year average

- MARS upped its yield estimate for this year's EU barley (winter and spring) to 4.71 mt/ha from 4.7 mt/ha last month, down 2.7% from last year (4.85 mt/ha) and 2.4% below the 5-year average

SOYBEAN

- July 21 - Argentina registered for export 172,000 MT of soybeans, 125,000 MT of soymeal and 27,300 MT of soybean oil

- July 21 - Argentina registered for export 12,200 MT of sunflower meal and 5,500 MT of sunflower oil

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending July 20, reported 596,920 MT, topped market expectations. Inspections for the 2016/17 marketing year are running 16.8% ahead of year-ago

- USDA rated 57% of the US soybean crop as good-to-excellent as of July 23, down 4% points from prior week and compared to 71% a year-ago, behind of an average of expectations (60%)

- China imported 7.687 MMT of soybeans during June down 6.7% from year-ago (main suppliers: Brazil (6.418 MMT) and Argentina (712,845 MT)). China's Jan-June soybean imports rose 14.2% on year to 44.808 MMT

- China's June soybean oil imports rose 226% from year-ago level to 140,929 MT. China's Jan-June soy oil imports rose 92.5% on year to 360,726 MT

- China's June rapeseed imports rose by 102.8% on year to 534,606 MT. China's Jan-June rapeseed imports rose 32.1% on year to 2.635 MMT

- China's June rapeseed meal imports totalled 136,602 MT, up by 160.6% on year. China's Jan-June rapeseed meal imports rose 206% on year to 496,216 MT

- China's June palm oil imports down 8.5% on year to 217,306 MT. China's Jan-June palm oil imports totalled 2.18 MMT, up 16.9% on year

- MARS trimmed its yield forecast for this year's EU rapeseed to 3.21 mt/ha from 3.22 mt/ha last month, 1.1% below the 5-year average but up 6.7% from 2016 (3.01 mt/ha)

- MARS lowered its yield forecast for this year's EU sunflower seed to 2.04 mt/ha from 2.18 mt/ha last month, down 0.9% from 2016 (2.06 mt/ha) but 5.2% above the 5-year average (1.94 mt/ha)

- Ukrainian June sunflower oil production was reported at 451 TMT, down 8.1% from prior month but up 42.5% from last year. Jan-June 2017 sunoil production totalled 2.871 MMT, up 34.9% from the same period last year
