WHEAT

- July 31 - Iraq seeks at least 50,000 MT of hard wheat from either the US, Canada or Australia. The tender closes on July 31 and offers must remain valid up to August 6

- July 26 - Jordan seeks 100,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat for Dec shipment

- July 20 - China sold 202,977 MT of wheat from state reserves or 14.3% of the offered amount (1,422,665 MT) at auction at average price of 1,986 RMB/mt (294 $/mt)

- July 19 - Argentina registered 12,790 MT of wheat for export

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended July 13 totalled 669,500 MT for 2017/18 (topped trade expectations of 250-550 TMT). Export commitments for 2017/18 are running 2% ahead of year-ago

- According to TAXUD, the EU this season in period of July 1-18, 2017/18 exported 460,378 MT of soft wheat compared to 1.436 MMT a year ago

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 27,500 MT of wheat via port Varna between July 3-16, 2017/18, down 76.2% from a year-ago (115,542 MT)

- Farmers in Bulgaria harvested 3.055 MMT of wheat as of July 13, down 20.8% from last-year stage. Meanwhile yields on this stage totals 5.23 mt/ha, 7.8% higher than a year-ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported 1.25 MMT of grain between July 1-19, 2017/18, down 10.1% from 1.39 MMT for the same period last season, including:

  • wheat – 194 TMT (vs. 264 TMT a year ago);
  • corn – 689 TMT (386 TMT);
  • barley – 370 TMT (744 TMT)

- Ukrainian grain stocks were at 6.773 MMT as of July 1, down 3.7% from a year earlier, incl. 2.249 MMT of wheat (3.014 MMT a year ago), 1.233 MMT of barley (1.513 MT a year ago) and 2.918 MMT of corn (2.179 MMT a year ago). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- AgCanada estimated Canadian total wheat production at 22.7 MMT, down 1 MMT from its previous estimate

- Japan's June grain imports rose 11.6% on year to 2.211 MMT, incl. 1.804 MMT from the US (+25.1%)

CORN

- July 21 - Saudi Arabia seeks 1.5 MMT of feed barley in 25 consignments for Sept-Oct shipment

- July 20 - China sold a total 921,782 MT of corn from state reserves via auctions:

  • 54,115 MT of 2013 corn, or 9.1% of the offered amount (591,468 MT), at average price of 1,250 RMB/mt (185 $/mt);
  • 867,667 MT of 2014 corn, or 88.4% of the offered amount (982,064 MT) at average price of 1,442 RMB/mt (213 $/mt)

- July 19 - Argentina registered for export 70,000 MT of corn and 12,500 MT of feed barley

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended July 13 of 678,600 MT (within trade expectations of 350-750 TMT), incl. 466,500 MT for 2016/17 and 212,100 MT for 2017/18. Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 17% ahead of year-ago

- Argentine Ag Min estimated the 2016/17 corn crop will be a record 49.0 MMT, that is 1.5 MMT more the previous estimate

- Japan's use of corn in animal feed rose to 46.9% in May from 46.4% in April and by 0.3% points above year-ago level (46.6% in May 2016). Its use of barley kept at 3.5%, up from 3.4% year-ago; while wheat usage left at 1.9% but above year-ago (1.7%). Sorghum usage in feed rations declined to 2.2% in May (2.2% in April) from 2.5% a year ago

- US Ethanol production for the week ended July 14 rose by 19,000 barrels to 1,026,000 barrels per day, slightly down from last year's level of 1,029,000 bpd. While stocks climbed by 956,000 barrels from the week prior to 22.137 million barrels, up 4.6% vs. 21.157 million barrels a year ago

- July 20 - Egypt’s GASC bought 30,000 MT of soybean oil at 798.5 $/mt c&f (20 TMT) and 771 $/mt c&f (10 TMT) and 31,000 MT of sunflower oil 794.5 $/mt c&f for Sept 5-20 delivery:

  • 10,000 MT of sunflower oil from ADM at 794.5 $/mt c&f;
  • 10,000 MT of sunflower oil from Olam at 794.5 $/mt c&f;
  • 11,000 MT of sunflower oil from Aston at 794.5 $/mt c&f;
  • 20,000 MT of soybean oil from Olam at 798.5 $/mt c&f;
  • 10,000 MT of soybean oil from Cargill at 13,875 EGP/mt (771 $/mt)

- July 19 - Argentina registered for export 181,700 MT of soybeans, 230,000 MT of soymeal and 30,500 MT of soybean oil

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended July 13 of 1,932,100 MT (within market estimates of 1.4-2.1 MMT), incl. 409,600 MT for 2016/17 and 1,522,500 MT for 2017/18. Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 16% ahead of year-ago
