WHEAT

- July 8 - Egypt's GASC bought 115,000 MT of wheat from Russia for August 10-20 delivery:

  • 55,000 MT of Russian wheat from Friends at 219.5 $/mt c&f (203.7 fob Tuapse+15.8 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Alegrow at 219.92 $/mt c&f (204.75 fob Novo+15.17 freight)

- Egypt (GASC) imported 5.58 MMT of wheat in 2016/17 compared with 4.44 MMT a year earlier; and expects its imports to jump to about 6.2 MMT in the new financial year

- July 9 - Iraq’s state grains board bought 50,000 MT of Australian hard wheat at 318.77 $/mt c&f free out

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended June 29 totalled 375,300 MT for 2017/18 (within trade expectations of 300-500 TMT). Export commitments for 2017/18 are running 1% behind of year-ago

- Russian farmers harvested 4.1 MMT of all grains as of July 7, down from 9.6 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 4.44 mt/ha up from 4.33 mt/ha a year ago

- Russia’s Ag Min said Russia exported about 152,000 MT of grain, incl. 45,000 MT of wheat, between July 1-5, 2017/18 compared to 162,100 MT in July 1-6, 2016/17

- Russia’s Ag Min said Russia exported about 35.474 MMT of grain between July 1-June 30, 2016/17, up by 4.7% from 33.894 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 27.075 MMT (24.604 MMT in 2015/16);
  • barley – 2.944 MMT (4.231 MMT);
  • corn – 5.177 MMT (4.713 MMT);
  • others – 278 TMT (346 TMT)

- Russia has 3,999,400 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of July 7 vs. 3,266,300 MT a year-ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 615 TMT of wheat (3%) as of July 7, down from 1.16 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 3.14 mt/ha versus 3.72 mt/ha a year ago

- France's farm ministry estimates the country's 2017 soft wheat crop at 36.216 MMT with yields 7.04 mt/ha, up 31.4% from last year (27.56 MMT and 5.37 mt/ha in 2016) and 1.5% above the five-year average

- Stocks of wheat at Argentine grain storage and processing companies totalled 4.455 MMT at the end of May 2017, up by 1.4% from a year-ago (4.392 MMT in May 2016)

CORN

- July 23 - Iran's SLAL seeks 200,000 MT of corn for Aug-Oct shipment

- July 23 - Iran's SLAL seeks 200,000 MT of barley for Aug-Oct shipment

- July 11 - Taiwan's MFIG seeks up to 65,000 MT of corn from the US, Argentina, Brazil or South Africa for Oct-Nov shipment

- July 7 - USDA announced export sales of 143,000 MT of US corn for delivery to Mexico during 2016/17 (11 TMT) and 2017/18 (132 TMT)

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended June 29 of 214,800 MT (below trade expectations of 350-750 TMT), incl. 140,300 MT for 2016/17 and 74,500 MT for 2017/18. Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 18% ahead of year-ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 1.3 MMT of barley (17%) as of July 7, down from 2.55 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 3.23 mt/ha down from 3.4 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 171 TMT of peas (19%) as of July 7, up from 141 TMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.33 mt/ha versus 2.99 mt/ha a year ago

- France's farm ministry forecasts the country's 2017 barley production at 12.162 MMT, up 16.5% from last year (10.435 MMT in 2016) and 6.8% above five-year average. French winter barley crop is expected at 9.648 MMT (9.341 MMT forecasted in June and 8.389 MMT in 2016), while spring crop may rose to 2.514 MMT (2.046 MMT in 2016)

- Stocks of corn at Argentine grain storage and processing companies totalled 2.469 MMT at the end of May 2017, up by 24.9% from a year-ago

- Stocks of barley at Argentine grain storage and processing companies totalled 1.111 MMT at the end of May 2017, down by 16.3% from a year-ago

SOYBEAN

- Pakistan recently bought about 180,000 MT of soybeans for April-May 2018 shipment

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended June 29 of 438,700 MT (within market estimates of 250-650 TMT), incl. 365,500 MT for 2016/17 and 73,200 MT for 2017/18. Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 16% ahead of year-ago

- Stocks of soybeans at Argentine grain storage and processing companies totalled 13.391 MMT at the end of May 2017, down by 7.1% from a year-ago

- Stocks of sunseed at Argentine grain storage and processing companies are estimated at 1.165 MMT at the end of May 2017, up by 26.6% from a year-ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 83 TMT of rapeseed (5%) as of July 7, down from 144 TMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.02 mt/ha versus 2.34 mt/ha a year ago

- France's farm ministry lowered its forecast for 2017 French winter rapeseed output to 4.662 MMT from 4.766 MMT in June, down 1.5% from last year (4.733 MMT in 2016) and 8.2% below five-year average

- MPOB estimated Malaysian crude palm oil production in June at 1.514 MMT, below average expectation of 1.62 MMT and down 8.5% from 1.654 MMT in May with end-stocks at 1.527 MMT down 1.9% on month, and below the average market expectation of 1.56 MMT. Malaysian June palm oil exports fell 8.4% to 1.38 MMT, in line with the average expectation

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's July 1-10 palm oil exports at 381,241 MT up 3.8% from a month ago

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's July 1-10 palm oil exports at 360,114 MT down 1.9% from a month ago

- India's oilmeal exports rose 14% from a year ago to 150,918 MT in June (132,771 MT in June 2016). Indian export of oilmeals during April-June 2017/18 rose 64% to 499,140 MT compared to 304,703 MT during the same period of last season

- India exported 41,328 MT of soybean meal in June, down from 48,900 MT a month ago but above than 17,930 MT in the same month last year. Indian Apr-June 2017/18 soymeal exports are estimated at 214,602 MT vs. 40,625 MT during the same period of last season

- India exported 44,074 MT of rapeseed meal in June, down from 56,107 MT a month ago but above than 43,636 MT in the same month last year. Indian Apr-June 2017/18 rapeseed meal exports are estimated at 136,031 MT vs. 60,889 MT during the same period of last season

- Indian farmers increased summer crop planting by about 9% so far, from the same period last year. Pulses planting was up 23% compared with the same time last year, to 4.41 million ha, while soybean planting rose 10.3% to 5.36 million ha. Summer crop planting will continue until October
