WHEAT

- July 11 - Bangladesh seeks 50,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat

- June 22 - Japan seeks 135,747 MT of food wheat for July-Sept shipments:

  • 24,561 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 9,690 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 35,710 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 31,106 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 34,680 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- June 20 - Jordan has made no purchase in an international tender for 100,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat for Oct-Nov shipment and may retender on June 29

- June 20 - China sold 13,213 MT of wheat from state reserves or 0.4% of the offered amount (3.024 MMT) at auction at average price of 2,436 RMB/mt (356 $/mt)

- June 20 - China auctioned 680 MT of imported wheat from state reserves, or 0.5% of the offered amount (144,323 MT) at average price of 2,500 RMB/mt (366 $/mt)

- June 16 - Argentina registered for export 32,490 MT of wheat and 6,179 MT of wheat flour

- Iran exported a 35,000 MT cargo of wheat to Oman last week

- USDA estimated 49% of the US winter wheat crop good to excellent as of June 18 compared to 50% a week ago and 61% a year-ago, also below analysts' expectations of 50%. The wheat harvest was 28% complete by June 18, ahead of last year’s pace of 23% and 5-year mean of 25%, but below an average of analysts' expectations for 30%

- USDA rated 41% of the US spring wheat crop in good-to-excellent condition as of June 18, down from 45% a week earlier and below analysts' expectations for 47-48% and vs. 76% a year-ago

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending June 15, recorded 739,634 MT, just above market expectations. Inspections for 2017/18 are running 36.5% ahead of year-ago

- Russia’s Ag Min said Russia exported about 34.278 MMT of grain between July 1-June 14, 2016/17, up by 3% from 33.279 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 26.292 MMT (24.111 MMT a year ago);
  • barley – 2.812 MMT (4.219 MMT);
  • corn – 4.91 MMT (4.616 MMT);
  • others – 264 TMT (333 TMT)

- Russia has 4,000,800 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of June 16 vs. 3,266,300 MT a year-ago

- Russian grain stocks were at 18.515 MMT as of June 1, 2017, up 31.4% from a year earlier (14.094 MMT as of June 1, 2016). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Ukrainian grain stocks were at 8.845 MMT as of June 1, up 10.8% from a year earlier, incl. 3.003 MMT of wheat (3.867 MMT a year ago), 831 TMT of barley (693 TMT a year ago) and 4.593 MMT of corn (3.073 MMT a year ago). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Kazakhstan sees its 2017 grain crop at 17-18 MMT, lower than last year’s 20.6 MMT

- Egypt has closed its local wheat harvest having bought 3.4 MMT of wheat from farmers. Egyptian farmers have produced around 8-9 MMT of wheat this season. The local procurement season typically runs until July and the government had been targeting to buy 3.5-4 MMT of local wheat this year

- Agri-food Cooperatives Spain forecasts 2017 soft wheat crop at 3.692 MMT, down 49% from last year (7.234 MMT in 2016)

- Japan's May grain imports rose 17.6% on year to 2.396 MMT, incl. 1.906 MMT from the US (+49.4%)

- July 9 - Bangladesh seeks 50,000 MT of optional-origin rice

- Bangladesh will lower tax on rice imports to 10% from the current 28% in a bid to cool record-high local prices

CORN

- June 19 - Argentina registered 155,620 MT of corn for export

- June 16 - Argentina registered 26,700 MT of malting barley for export

- US corn export inspections for week, ending June 15, reported 1,218,738 MT, topped market forecasts (0.9-1.1 MMT). Inspections for 2016/17 are running 43.9% ahead of year-ago

- USDA rated 67% of the US corn crop as good-to-excellent as of June 18, unchanged from the previous week, but below an average of analyst expectations (68%) and down compared to 75% a year-ago

- USDA estimated US sorghum planting 86% complete as of June 18, compared to 86% last year and an 85% five-year average

- Agri-food Cooperatives Spain forecasts 2017 barley crop in the country at 5.73 MMT, down 39.1% from last year (9.405 MMT in 2016)

- Agri-food Cooperatives Spain forecasts 2017 corn crop at 3.223 MMT, down 10.4% from last year (3.598 MMT in 2016)

- Agri-food Cooperatives Spain forecasts 2017 oats crop at 0.9 MMT, down 18.3% from last year (1.102 MMT in 2016)

- Japan's use of corn in animal feed rose to 46.4% in April from 45.7% in March but by 0.1% point below year-ago level (46.5% in Mar 2016). Its use of barley rose to 3.5%, up from 3.4% month ago and year-ago; while wheat usage left at 1.9% but above year-ago (1.6%). Sorghum usage in feed rations declined to 2.2% in April (2.3% in March) from 2.6% a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Egypt’s GASC seeks 30,000 MT of soybean oil

- June 19 - Argentina registered for export 26,230 MT of soymeal, 17,815 MT of soybean oil and 7,200 MT of sunflower meal

- June 16 - Argentina registered for export 30,000 MT of soymeal and 8,800 MT of sunflower meal

- USDA said US soybean planting was 96% complete as of June 18, ahead of the last-year score (95%) and above the five-year average of 93%. USDA rated 67% of the US soybean crop as good-to-excellent, up 1% point from prior week but behind an average of analyst expectations of 68% and down compared to 73% a year-ago

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending June 15, reported 275,461 MT, within market expectations. Inspections for the 2016/17 marketing year are running 17.6% ahead of year-ago

- India has raised the minimum purchase price for soybeans to 3,050 rupees ($47.3) per 100 kg from 2,775 rupees, to protect farmers from falling market prices

- Japan's May soybean imports rose 1.9% on year to 313,522 MT, incl. 212,362 MT from the US (down 7%)

- Grain cargo ships in Argentina's main shipping hub of Rosario were halted late on Monday when replacement workers filling in for striking unions walked off the job after receiving threats

- Argentine May soybean crush was reported at 4.5 MMT, up from 3.99 MMT in April and up 3.4% from last year

- Argentine May sunflower crush was reported at 315,786 MT, down from 433,761 MT in April but up 45.2% from last year

- Ukrainian sunflower stocks were at 2.077 MMT as of June 1, up 49.1% from a year earlier (1.393 MMT). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's June 1-20 palm oil exports at 721,020 MT down 14.8% from a month ago
