WHEAT

- Apr 6 - Algeria's OAIC bought 570,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat, 11% protein, from Louis Dreyfus (210 TMT), Casillo (210 TMT) and Baywa (150 TMT) at 198-198.5 $/mt c&f for June shipment

- Indian flour millers bought about 150,000 MT of Australian wheat, 9% protein, this week at 220-221 $/mt c&f for May shipment

- Indonesian importers took 60,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat, 11.5% protein, at 195 $/mt c&f

- FranceAgriMer said 90% of France’s soft wheat crops kept in good to excellent condition as of Apr 3, unchanged from the prior week and vs. 92% a year ago; durum rating at 79% in good to excellent vs. 80% a week-ago and vs. 87% a year-ago

- France shipped about 697 TMT of soft wheat abroad in February, 8-th month of the 2016/17 marketing season, less than the 814 TMT exported in January. France exported 245 TMT of soft wheat outside the EU in February (incl. 86 TMT to Algeria, 59 TMT to Morocco and 25 TMT to Angola), with Jul-Feb 2016/17 France's soft wheat shipments outside the EU at 3.041 MMT, down 55% on the year-earlier period. Total French soft wheat exports, including shipments within the EU, so far this season were down 45% at 6.312 MMT (11.413 MMT in Jul-Feb 2015/16)

- France imported 65 TMT of wheat in February, up from 50 TMT in January, including 27 TMT from Germany and 13 TMT from Bulgaria. French Jul-Feb 2016/17 wheat imports totalled 753 TMT, up 136% on the year-earlier period

- Russian Ag Min estimated spring planting 3.7% (or 1.96 million ha) done as of Apr 7 vs. 1.48 million ha a year ago. Of the total Russian farmers planted 1.19 million ha of spring grain or 3.8% of planned area (911,800 ha a year ago). Russian farmers have sown 80,200 ha of spring wheat or 0.6% of planned area as of April 7 vs. 22,700 ha a year ago

- Kazakh Ag Min said Kazakhstan exported 6.293 MMT of grain between July 1-March 31, 2016/17 vs. 6.457 MMT a year ago, incl. flour – 2.278 MMT in wheat equivalent vs. 2.169 MMT in the same period of 2015/16

- Ukraine exported 1.053 MMT of wheat in March 2017. Ukraine's July-Mar 2016/17 wheat exports rose 13.2% on year to 14.615 MMT

- USDA attaché forecasts Pakistan’s soon-to-be harvested 2017/18 wheat crop at 25.2 MMT, marginally lower than a year ago

- USDA attaché forecasts Ethiopia’s 2017/18 wheat harvest to continue to increase to 4.1 MMT (3.9 MMT in 2016/17). Wheat imports are estimated to decline to 1.2 MMT (1.5 MMT in 2016/17)

- USDA attaché says that feed-grade wheat import restrictions are driving down wheat imports in Indonesia, with 2016/17 estimated lower at 9 MMT (10.116 MMT in 2015/16) and 2017/18 at 9.45 MMT

CORN

- Apr 6 - Argentina registered 100,112 MT of corn for export

- Apr 6 - Argentina registered 10,000 MT of malting barley for export

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange maintains its forecast for Argentina's 2016/17 corn crop at 37 MMT, up 23.3% vs. 30 MMT in 2015/16. Harvesting of Argentine corn crop was 15% completed as of Apr 6 vs. last year’s pace of 18%

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecasts Argentine 2016/17 sorghum crop at 3.2 MMT, down 6% from 2015/16 crop (3.4 MMT). Harvesting of Argentine sorghum crop was 14.2% completed as of Apr 6 vs. last year’s pace of 15.5%

- FranceAgriMer estimated France’s corn planting 6% done as of Apr 3 (1% week ago), ahead of last year pace of 0%

- FranceAgriMer said 85% of France’s winter barley crops were in good to excellent condition as of Apr 3, unchanged on the prior week but below the year-ago score (91%). Spring barley rating was at 87% in good to excellent vs. 86% last week and vs. 95% a year ago

- France exported 142 TMT of barley outside the EU in February (incl. 52 TMT to Tunisia, 31 TMT to Jordan and 28 TMT to Israel). A further 248 TMT were exported within the EU in February, bringing total French barley exports in the first eight months of the season to 3.033 MMT (incl. 1.331 MMT to non-EU), down 44% on the year-earlier period (5.368 MMT, incl. 3.485 MMT to non-EU in Jul-Feb 2015/16)

- French maize exports in Jul-Feb 2016/17, which are mostly within the EU, declined by 19% to 3.035 MT (3.754 MMT in Jul-Feb 2015/16)

- Russian farmers have sown 662,600 ha of spring barley or 8.6% of planned area as of April 7 vs. 474,700 ha a year ago

- Ukraine’s Ag Min estimated early spring grain planting 83% done as of Apr 7. Ukrainian farmers planted 2 million ha of spring crops, thereof 1.4 million ha of barley (or 79% of planned area), 339,000 ha of peas (or 123%), 163,000 ha of oats (or 78%) and 134,000 ha of wheat (or 70%)

- Ukraine exported 3.127 MMT of corn in March 2017. Ukraine's Sept-Mar 2016/17 corn exports rose 11.4% on year to 13.586 MMT

- CNGOIC doubled its estimate of China’s corn imports in 2016/17 to 2 MMT from 1 MMT last month, a drop of 37% compared with the prior year. It also raised Chinese corn consumption estimate for 2016/17 by 1.5 MMT to 198.58 MMT, up 22 MMT from the previous marketing year

- USDA attaché forecasts Indonesia’s 2017/18 corn harvest to continue to increase to 11.35 MMT. 2016/17 and 2017/18 corn imports are estimated to decline to 500,000 MT due to import restrictions

SOYBEAN

- Apr 6 - South Korea's NOFI has purchased about 12,000 MT of feed ingredients:

  • 6,000 MT of palm kernel expeller meal from South East Asia at 107 $/mt c&f+1.5 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for June 15 arrival
  • 6,000 MT of copra meal from South East Asia at 168.5 $/mt c&f+1.35 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for June 5 arrival

- Apr 6 - Argentina registered for export 112,000 MT of soybeans, 764,232 MT of soymeal and 63,025 MT of soybean oil

- Apr 6 - Argentina registered for export 17,000 MT of sunflower meal and 9,076 MT of sunflower oil

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange kept its Argentina's 2016/17 soybean harvest estimate at 56.5 MMT, up from 56 MMT in 2015/16. Harvesting of Argentine soybean crop was 5.9% completed as of Apr 6 vs. last year’s pace of 13.7%

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecasts Argentine 2016/17 sunflower crop at 3.3 MMT, up 32% from 2015/16 crop (2.5 MMT). Harvesting of Argentine sunflower crop was 92.1% completed as of Apr 6 vs. last year’s pace of 95.2%

- Ukrainian farmers have sown 348,000 ha of sunflower or 6% of planned area as of April 7

The import basket will include 10.5 MMT of palm oil followed by 4.2 MMT of soybean and 1.8 MMT of sunflower seed oil
