WHEAT

- Mar 27 - Argentina registered 25,715 MT of wheat for export

- Mar 28 - India imposed a 10% import tax on wheat with immediate effect, reinstating the tariff after a gap of nearly four months

- Wheat prices were under pressure as rains forecast for the next 10 days are set to boost wheat growth in the US Plains and southwest portion of the Midwest

- USDA attaché forecasts Colombia’s wheat imports in 2017/18 at 2.1 MMT, up 50,000 MT or 2.4% compared to the 2016/17 estimate of 2.05 MMT

- Mar 28 - China sold 459,232 MT of wheat from state reserves or 17.3% of the of the offered amount (2,660,401 MT) at auction at average price of 2,506 RMB/mt (364 $/mt)

- Kazakhstan plans to reduce its wheat sowing area by 2.7% to 12.1 million hectares in 2017 (12.4 mln ha in 2016)

CORN

- Mar 27 - Argentina registered 212,000 MT of corn for export

- Mar 23 - Algerian’s ONAB bought 25,000 MT of corn, likely from Argentina, at 199-199.5 $/mt c&f for April 15-30 shipment

- According to USDA attaché Colombian corn production is expected to remain stagnant at 1.7 MMT in 2017/18, while imports to rise to 5 MMT (incl. 4.8 MMT from US) from 4.8 MMT (4.6 MMT) in 2016/17

SOYBEAN

- Mar 28 - South Korea's Nonghyup Feed Inc (NOFI) seeks 55,000 MT of South American soymeal for Sept 20 arrival

- USDA attaché forecasts Canada’s 2017/18 canola production to keep stable at 18.5 MMT, but crush and exports in 2017/18 are forecast to drop to 8.623 MMT (9 MMT in 2016/17) and 9.5 MMT (9.8 MMT in 2016/17) accordingly due to low carry-in stocks

- USDA attaché forecasts Canadian soybean production in 2017/18 at 6.71 MMT, up from the 2016/17 estimate of 6.45 MMT. Soybean exports are forecast to increase in 2017/18 to 4.7 MMT from 4.4 MMT in 2016/17
