- Mar 10 - Tunisia's state grains agency seeks 75,000 MT (3x25 TMT) of optional-origin milling wheat, 11.5%, for April 20-May 20 shipment

- Mar 8 - Turkey's TMO bought a total of about 130,000 MT of EU wheat for Mar 15-27 shipment:

  • 50,000 MT (5x10 TMT) from Anagro at 833 Turkish lira/mt (222 $/mt) c&f Mersin;
  • 30,000 MT (3x10 TMT) from ADM at 837.5 TRY/mt (223 $/mt) c&f Izmir;
  • 20,000 MT (2x10 TMT) from Hakan Agro at 848 TRY/mt (226 $/mt) c&f Bandirma;

- Egypt has set the price it will pay local farmers for wheat in this year's harvest at 555-575 Egyptian pounds ($31.4-32.5) per ardeb (150 kilos), up from 420 pounds in 2016

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Mar 2 totalled 431,600 MT, incl. 391,600 MT for 2016/17 (within trade expectations for 300-500 TMT) and 40,000 MT for 2017/18 (below trade expectations for 50-200 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 37% ahead of year-ago

- According to TAXUD, the EU this season in period of Jul 1-Mar 7, 2016/17 exported 16.524 MMT of soft wheat compared to 19.05 MMT a year ago

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 1.539 MMT of wheat via port Varna between July 4-Mar 5, 2016/17, up 10.5% from a year-ago (1.393 MMT)

- France shipped about 814 TMT of soft wheat abroad in January, 7-th month of the 2016/17 marketing season, more than the 731 TMT exported in December. France exported 372 TMT of soft wheat outside the EU in January (incl. 146 TMT to Algeria, 60 TMT to Yemen and 52 TMT to Cuba), with Jul-Jan 2016/17 France's soft wheat shipments outside the EU at 2.796 MMT, down 51% on the year-earlier period. Total French soft wheat exports, including shipments within the EU, so far this season were down 42% at 5.615 MMT (9.637 MMT in Jul-Jan 2015/16)

- France imported 50 TMT of wheat in January, down from 90 TMT in December, including 17 TMT from Germany and 12 TMT from Belgium. French Jul-Jan 2016/17 wheat imports totalled 686 TMT, up 128% on the year-earlier period

CORN

- Mar 9 - South Korea's MFG bought 66,000 MT of optional-origin yellow corn at 191.6 $/mt c&f+1.0 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for arrival around June 10

- Mar 9 - USDA announced export sales of 120,000 MT of US corn for delivery to Japan during 2016/17

- Mar 8 - Jordan bought 100,000 MT of optional origin feed barley from Casillo at 178.4 $/mt c&f for July 1-15 shipment

- Mar 8 - Argentina grants export licenses for 100,000 MT of corn

- Rosario grains exchange raised its forecast for 2016/17 Argentine corn harvest to 38 MMT from 36.5 MMT projected last month

- Conab raised its forecast for Brazil's 2016/17 corn crop to 88.969 from 87.409 MMT in February, sharply higher than 66.531 MMT last season with second crop at 59.67 MMT (40.677 MMT in 2015/16). Conab expects Brazil to export 24 MMT of corn (18.883 MMT in 2015/16). Ending stocks are forecasted to recover to 17.368 MMT from 7.999 MT in 2015/16

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Mar 2 of 834,100 MT, incl. 741,100 MT for 2016/17 (within trade expectations for 700-1000 TMT) and 93,000 MT for 2017/18 (in line with trade estimates of 0-100 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 53% ahead of year-ago

- EU in week ended Mar 3 awarded licenses to import 1,579 MT of Ukrainian barley under an annual duty-free quota. The award meant that the EU had now awarded 15.37% (41,489 MT) out of a total volume of 270,000 MT available in 2017

- EU this season in period of Jul 1-Mar 7, 2016/17 imported 7.41 MMT of corn (maize) vs. 9.719 MMT a year ago

- EU this season in period of Jul 1-Mar 7, 2016/17 exported 1.718 MMT of corn vs. 1.286 MMT a year ago

- France exported 269 TMT of barley outside the EU in January (incl. 89 TMT to Jordan, 81 TMT to Tunisia and 67 TMT to Algeria), slightly up from December. A further 209 TMT were exported within the EU in January, bringing total French barley exports in the first seven months of the season to 2.641 MMT (incl. 1.189 MMT to non-EU), down 43% on the year-earlier period (4.603 MMT, incl. 3.027 MMT to non-EU in Jul-Jan 2015/16)

- French maize exports in Jul-Jan 2016/17, which are mostly within the EU, declined by 19% to 2.674 MT (3.303 MMT in Jul-Jan 2015/16)

- Farmers of southern Ukrainian regions have started spring grain sowing, seeding the first 600 hectares, thereof 500 ha of peas, 60 ha of barley and 40 ha of oats

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Mar 3 fell by 12,000 barrels to 1,022,000 barrels per day, up 4.5% from last year's level of 978,000 bpd. Stocks fell by 235,000 barrels from the week prior to 22.856 million barrels, down 1.9% vs. 23.307 million barrels a year ago

- Mar 8 - USDA announced export sales of 122,000 MT of US soymeal for delivery to the Philippines during 2016/17

- Mar 8 - Argentina grants export licenses for 36,140 MT of soymeal and 7,800 MT of soybean oil

- Argentina's Rosario grains exchange raised its forecast of the country's 2016/17 soybean harvest to 56 MMT from 54.5 MMT previously

- Conab forecasts Brazil's 2016/17 soy output at 107.615 MMT, up from previous forecast of 105.558 MMT and above than 95.435 MMT last year. Conab kept its forecast of Brazilian soybean exports in 2016/17 at 59.078 MMT (51.582 MMT in 2015/16). Ending stocks are forecasted to recover to 3.819 MMT from 1.482 MMT in 2015/16

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended Mar 2 of 515,100 MT, incl. 485,500 MT for 2016/17 (within trade estimates of 350-550 TMT) and 29,600 MT for 2017/18 (within trade estimates of 0-100 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 24% ahead of year-ago
