WHEAT

- Mar 2 - Israeli group seeks 45,000 MT of optional-origin feed wheat for Apr-Jun shipments

- Feb 28 - Egypt’s GASC seeks an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for Apr 1-10 shipment

- Feb 26 - The lowest offer in Iraq’s tender for 50,000 MT of hard wheat came in at 244 $/mt c&f free out for Romanian wheat. Other offers: 244.5 $/mt for Bulgarian wheat; 245 $/mt for Ukrainian wheat; 245.5 $/mt for Russian wheat; 310 and 320 $/mt for Australian wheat; 322 $/mt for Canadian wheat and optional US or Canadian wheat was offered at 248 $/mt c&f free out. The tender closed on Feb 26 and offers must remain valid up to Mar 2. The wheat in the latest tender can be sourced optionally from the US, Canada or Australia only

- UN recently bought 25,000 MT of Russian wheat for donation to east Africa for shipment in the second half of March

- Russia exported about 23.724 MMT of grain between July 1-Feb 19, 2016/17, down by 4.2% from a year-ago, including:

  • wheat – 18.45 MMT (-0.3%);
  • barley – 2.01 MMT (-42.6%);
  • corn – 3.066 MMT (+22.1%)

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) raised its wheat production estimate for 2016 year to 1.91 MMT from 1.893 MMT in prior month, up 32.6% over the previous season’s crop of 1.44 MMT

- South Korea’s Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp seeks a total of 100,000 MT of rice for arrival in May 31-June 30. Registration for the tenders will close on Mar 7 and the electronic bidding will be held on Mar 8

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) released the first estimate of domestic corn production for the 2017 crop. CEC forecasts 13.918 MMT of corn output this year, by 78.9% more than last year (7.779 MMT in 2016) and higher than average market expectations of 13.11 MMT

- CEC forecasts S. Africa’s 2017 sorghum crop at 140,950 MT, up 99.9% from 70,500 MT in 2016

- Feb 28 - South Korea's NOFI has purchased about 12,000 MT of rapeseed meal, likely from India, at 230.73 $/mt c&f+1.75 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for arrival around July 1

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's February 1-28 palm oil exports at 1,008,040 MT down 14.2% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's February 1-28 palm oil exports at 1,018,604 MT down 12% from a month ago

- Russia exported about 681,200 MT of sunflower oil between Sept 1-Feb 19, 2016/17, a 48.8%-increase from a year-ago
