- Mar 7 - Jordan seeks 100,000 MT of optional origin hard milling wheat for Jul 16-Sept 15 shipment

- Mar 1 - Japan seeks 113,167 MT of food wheat for Apr-May shipments:

  • 36,192 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 24,155 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 25,070 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 27,750 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- Feb 24 - Argentina grants export licenses for 181,660 MT of milling wheat

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending Feb 23, recorded 537,877 MT, in line with market expectations (350-550 TMT). Inspections for 2016/17 are running 27.8% ahead of year-ago

- Flour mills association expects Indonesia will import 8.7-9 MMT of food-grade wheat this year, up from 8.34 MMT in 2016

- Ukraine's Ag Min reports that 95% (or 6.8 mln ha) of Ukraine's winter grain crop had sprouted as of February 24 vs. 93% (or 6.6 mln ha) a year ago. About 81% of emerged crops were in good to satisfactory condition, up from 67% last year

CORN

- Mar 8 - Jordan seeks 150,000 MT of optional origin feed barley for Jul 1-31 shipment

- Feb 24 - Argentina grants export licenses for 90,612 MT of corn

- US corn export inspections for week, ending Feb 23, reported 1,461,296 MT, topped the market forecasts (900-1200 TMT). Inspections for 2016/17 are running 75.4% ahead of year-ago

- Malawi's maize production may rise a third in 2017 to 3.2 MMT despite damage inflicted by the fall armyworm

- Grain SA said that cold weather, rains and resilient genetically-modified crops (GMO) have limited the damage caused by an armyworm outbreak in South Africa

- EC lowered its estimate of EU 2016/17 corn imports from 14 MMT to 13.7 MMT (13.314 MMT in 2015/16). EC upped the expected stocks at the end of 2016/17 to 10.157 MMT from 9.945 MMT previously (12.175 MMT in 2015/16)

- EC lowered its forecast for 2016/17 EU barley ending stocks to 9.489 MMT from 9.776 MMT previously and vs. 7.556 MMT in 2015/16

- Ukrainian farmers will start the 2017 spring grain sowing in a few days, expecting to sow a total of 7.2 million hectares of various spring grains. The area under spring and winter grains will total 14.4 million hectares this year

SOYBEAN

- Feb 24 - Argentina grants export licenses for 29,702 MT of soybean oil and 15,235 MT of soymeal

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending Feb 23, reported 704,945 MT, below the low end of market expectations that ranged from 750 to 1000 TMT. Inspections for the 2016/17 marketing year are running 12.4% ahead of year-ago

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's February 1-25 palm oil exports at 907,078 MT down 1.9% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's February 1-25 palm oil exports at 916,444 MT up 1.3% from a month ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min reports that 96% (or 860,000 ha) of Ukraine's winter rapeseed crop had sprouted as of February 24 vs. 90% (or 588,800 ha) a year ago. About 81% of emerged crops were in good to satisfactory condition, up from 67% last year
