- Feb 23 - Jordan Silos & Supply General Company bought 25,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat at 206 $/mt c&f Aqaba for April 16-30 shipment

- Feb 22 - Egypt's GASC bought 360,000 MT of wheat from Russia (300 TMT) and Ukraine (60 TMT) for March 25-April 4 shipment:

  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Cargill at 207.75 $/mt c&f (196.5 $/mt fob+11.25 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Olam at 208.25 $/mt c&f (197 $/mt fob+11.25 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Louis Dreyfus at 208.20 $/mt c&f (196.95 $/mt fob+11.25 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat from Louis Dreyfus at 208.45 $/mt c&f (195.9 $/mt fob+12.55 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Midgulf at 209.10 $/mt c&f (198.25 $/mt fob+10.85 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from ADM at 210.15 $/mt c&f (199.3 $/mt fob+10.85 $/mt freight)

- Syria's state grain buyer has signed six contracts (each for 200,000 MT) with local traders for a total of 1.2 MMT of Russian wheat

- Egypt has finalised its rejection of 18,000 MT of Russian wheat that were seized at an Alexandria port in November

- Feb 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 67,405 MT of milling wheat

- USDA projected US total wheat plantings would be at 46 million acres this year, down from 50.2 mln in 2016, and below the average guess of 46.9 mln acres

- EU in week ended February 17 awarded licenses to import 6,166 MT of Ukrainian wheat under an annual duty-free quota. The award meant that the EU had now awarded 82% (791,912 MT) out of a total volume of 960,000 MT available in 2017

- According to TAXUD, the EU this season in period of Jul 1-Feb 21, 2016/17 exported 15.755 MMT of soft wheat compared to 17.643 MMT a year ago

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 1.484 MMT of wheat via port Varna between July 4-Feb 19, 2016/17, up 10.4% from a year-ago (1.344 MMT)

- International Grains Council (IGC) kept its forecast for world wheat production in 2016/17 at 752 MMT (737 MMT in 2015/16), unchanged from the previous forecast, with an upward revision for Australia offset by a reduction for Kazakhstan. Global wheat ending stocks were increased by 1 MMT to 236 MMT (221 MMT in 2015/16). Conditions for 2017/18 winter crops in the northern hemisphere remained mostly favourable. Only a small fall in all-wheat harvested area is anticipated, but with a projected drop in average yields, the next world harvest is seen retreating by 2% y/y

CORN

- Feb 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 52,750 MT of barley

- Feb 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 20,539 MT of corn

- USDA projected US corn plantings would be at 90 million acres this year, down from 94 mln in 2016, and below the average guess of 91 mln acres

- Agroconsult expects Brazil's corn harvest in 2016/17 will jump to 93 MMT, compared with 71 MMT in the previous harvest, and corn exports are expected to double to 28 MMT

- EU in week ended Feb 17 awarded licenses to import 200 MT of Ukrainian barley under an annual duty-free quota. The award meant that the EU had now awarded 10.43% (28,150 MT) out of a total volume of 270,000 MT available in 2017

- EU this season in period of Jul 1-Feb 21, 2016/17 imported 7.125 MMT of corn (maize) vs. 9.0 MMT a year ago

- IGC raised its forecast for the global corn crop in 2016/17 by 4 MMT to a record 1.049 billion tonnes (973 MMT in 2015/16), partly reflecting a higher forecast for Brazil and Mexico. IGC decreased its forecast for 2016/17 global corn carryover by 1 MMT from January to 224 MMT (209 MMT in 2015/16)

SOYBEAN

- Feb 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 187,093 MT of soymeal, 20,540 MT of soybean oil and 9,000 MT of soybeans

- USDA projected US soybean plantings would be at 88 million acres this year, up from 83.4 mln in 2016, and above the average guess of 87.6 mln acres

- Agroconsult raised its forecast of Brazil's 2016/17 soybean crop to a record 107.8 MMT up from its Feb 8 estimate of 105.3 MMT. Brazil is expected to export 61.1 MMT of soy, with 9 MMT going out in February and March

- Argentine January soybean crush was reported at 2.9 MMT, down from revised of 3.38 MMT in December and down 25.7% from last year

- Argentine January sunflower crush was reported at 308,973 MT, up from 139,675 MT in December and up 53.5% from last year

- Stocks of soymeal at Argentine mills totalled 785,786 MT at the end of January 2017, down by 6.3% from a year-ago

- Stocks of soybean oil at Argentine mills are estimated at 225,866 MT at the end of January 2017, down by 44.8% from a year-ago

- Stocks of sunoil at Argentine mills are estimated at 67,535 MT at the end of January 2017, down by 35.7% from a year-ago

- Stocks of sunflower meal at Argentine mills are estimated at 54,765 MT at the end of January 2017, up by 56.7% from a year-ago

- IGC raised its forecast for 2016/17 global soybean production by 2 MMT to a record 336 MMT (315 MMT in 2015/16). IGC kept global 2016/17 soybean carryover at 35 MMT (32 MMT in 2015/16), unchanged from prior month
