- Iraq has extended the deadline in a tender to buy at least 50,000 MT of wheat to Feb 12, from Feb 5 previously, and offers must remain valid up to Feb 16

- Ethiopia has postponed the offer deadline in an international tender for 400,000 MT of milling wheat to Feb 7, from Feb 3 previously

- Feb 2 - Japan bought 108,442 MT of food wheat for Mar-May shipments:

  • 20,300 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 13,875 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 29,945 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 23,482 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 20,840 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- Feb 1 - Algeria's OAIC bought 585,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat, likely from US and EU (including France, Germany and Baltic countries) for April shipment:

  • Cargill: 55,000 MT at 203 $/mt c&f;
  • Casillo: 150,000 MT at 204 $/mt c&f;
  • CAM Negoce: 60,000 MT at 205 $/mt c&f;

- Feb 1 - Jordan and the US signed an agreement under which the US will provide Jordan with 100,000 MT of wheat during 2017 as a grant

- Argentina in January granted export licenses for 2.06 MMT of milling wheat and 65,787 MT of wheat flour

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Jan 26 totalled 510,200 MT, incl. 451,200 MT for 2016/17 (topped trade expectations for 250-450 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 37% ahead of year-ago

- Kazakh Ag Min said Kazakhstan exported 5.009 MMT of grain between July 1-January 31, 2016/17 vs. 5.097 MMT a year ago, incl. flour – 1.836 MMT in wheat equivalent vs. 1.708 MMT in the same period of 2015/16

- EU in week ended January 27 awarded licenses to import 55,366 MT of Ukrainian wheat under an annual duty-free quota. The award meant that the EU had now awarded 76% (730,522 MT) out of a total volume of 960,000 MT available in 2017

- According to TAXUD, the EU this season in period of Jul 1-Jan 31, 2016/17 exported 14.668 MMT of soft wheat compared to 15.674 MMT a year ago

- USDA estimated US December soybean crush for crude oil at 5.077 million short tons, below the average market expectation (5.119 mln tons, or 170.6 mln bu) but up from 5.011 mln tons a year ago. Crude soyoil stocks rose to 1.506 billion lbs as of December 31 from 1.473 in November, but below the 1.577 bln lbs a year ago, while refined oil stocks were at 367,082 million lbs as of Dec 31 vs. 307,510 in Nov and 395,661 in Dec 2015. December US soy cake and meal stocks rose to 404,074 tons from 361,959 in November and 270,421 tons a year-ago
