WHEAT
- Jan 25 - Israeli group seeks 40,000 MT of optional origin feed wheat for Apr-May shipments
- Jan 20 - Egypt's (GASC) bought 60,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat from Louis Dreyfus at 201.04 $/mt c&f (188.74 $/mt fob+12.3 $/mt freight) for February 22-March 3 shipment
- Jan 20 - Argentina grants export licenses for 47,315 MT of milling wheat and 4,110 MT of wheat flour
- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 21.28 MMT of grain between July 1-Jan 18, 2016/17, down by 0.3% from 21.344 MMT a year ago, including:
- wheat – 16.734 MMT (15.973 MMT a year ago);
- barley – 1.899 MMT (3.293 MMT);
- corn – 2.502 MMT (1.899 MMT);
- others – 145 TMT (177 TMT)
- Russia has 4,052,000 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of January 19 vs. 2,715,700 MT a year ago
- Indian government has set a target of 96.5 MMT of wheat production for 2017, as higher plantings of wheat, if released this would be a record crop
- China's December wheat imports up 4.3% on year to 223,399 MT. China's full-year wheat imports rose 13.5% on year to 3.374 MMT (main suppliers: Australia (1.369 MMT), Canada (859 TMT), US (862 TMT) and Kazakhstan (284 TMT))
CORN
- Jan 25 - Israeli group seeks 85,000 MT of optional origin corn for Mar-May shipments
- Jan 25 - Israeli group seeks 25,000 MT of optional origin feed barley for Apr-May shipments
- Jan 21 - Kenya has banned maize exports with immediate effect
- China imported 141,431 MT of corn last month, up 6.2% from the year-ago level. For the full year of 2016, China has imported 3.167 MMT of corn, down 33% from year-ago (main suppliers: Ukraine (2.66 MMT), US (223 TMT), Laos (139 TMT), Myanmar (77 TMT) and Russia (65 TMT))
- China imported 69,967 MT of distillers' dried grains (DDGS) in December, down 57.2% from November and down 83.3% from a year-ago. China's Jan-Dec DDGs imports fell 55% on year to 3.067 MMT, mainly from US
- China's December ethanol imports fell 31% year on year to 124,823 cubic metres, but up 75% from November. Imports for the full year of 2016 were up 29.6% to 890,140 cubic metres, mainly from US
- China's December barley imports fell 11.3% on year to 404,415 MT. China's full-year barley imports dropped 53.4% on year to 5.005 MMT (main suppliers: Australia (3.252 MMT), Canada (730 TMT), France (636 TMT) and Ukraine (353 TMT))
- China imported 193,423 MT of sorghum in December, down 77.1% from a year-ago. China's Jan-Dec 2016 sorghum imports fell 37.9% on year to 6.648 MMT, mainly from US and Australia
SOYBEAN
- Jan 20 - South Korea's NOFI has purchased about 24,000 MT of feed ingredients for April arrival:
- 12,000 MT of likely Indian rapeseed meal at 247.45 $/mt c&f+1.75 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading;
- 12,000 MT of palm kernel expellers from South East Asia in two equal consignments at 128.88 $/mt c&f+1.5 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading
- Jan 20 - Argentina grants export licenses for 16,300 MT of sunflower meal
- China imported 8.996 MMT of soybeans during December down 1.4% from year-ago. China's Jan-Dec soybean imports up 2.7% on year to 83.913 MMT (main suppliers: Brazil (38.205 MMT), US (34.171 MMT), Argentina (8.014 MMT), Uruguay (1.661 MMT), Canada (1.456 MMT) and Russia (401 TMT))
- China's December soy oil imports rose 133.3% from year-ago levels to 36,713 MT. China's Jan-Dec soy oil imports fell 31.5% on year to 560,225 MT (main suppliers: Brazil (288 TMT), US (110 TMT), Ukraine (75 TMT) and Russia (74 TMT))
- China's December rapeseed imports down 23.3% on year to 241,120 MT. China's full-year rapeseed imports fell 20.2% on year to 3.566 MMT
- China's December rapeseed oil imports fell by 42.5% on year to 61,240 MT. China's Jan-Dec rapeseed oil imports decreased 14.1% on year to 699,736 MT, mainly from Canada
- China's December rapeseed meal imports rose to 80,123 MT. Imports for the full year of 2016 were up 310.1% on year to 503,655 MT, mainly from Canada
- China's December palm oil imports up 1.8% on year to 679,537 MT. China's full-year palm oil imports fell 24.2% on year to 4.478 MMT (main suppliers: Indonesia (2.644 MMT) and Malaysia (1.829 MMT))
- Malaysia will raise its crude palm export tax to 7.5% in February, up from 7% in January. Malaysia calculated a reference price of 3,279.76 MYR/mt (734.7 $/mt) for February
- Iranian imports of vegetable oils and oilmeals picked up sizably in the first quarter of this season and are likely to grow further
