WHEAT

- Jan 13 - Turkey's TMO seeks a total of about 99,000 MT of EU wheat, min. 14% protein, for Jan 21-31 shipment in 11 separate tenders each for 9,000 MT±20%. Offers must be made in Turkish lira on a c&f basis

- Jan 11 - Japan bought 28,220 MT of feed wheat for March 10 arrival via SBS-tender. New SBS tender for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley will be held on Jan 18

- Jan 10 - Argentina grants export licenses for 68,933 MT of milling wheat

- FranceAgriMer kept its estimate of French 2016/17 soft wheat production at 27.992 MMT, down 31.6% from a record 2015/16 crop. Wheat stocks are forecasted at 2.635 MMT (2.683 MMT – previously) at the end of 2016/17, down from 3.337 MMT last year. Projected exports outside the EU were upped to 4.8 MMT from December estimate of 4.7 MMT, but down 62.8% from 12.623 MMT in 2015/16, while forecast shipments within the EU were left unchanged from last month at 6.135 MMT, down 15.6% from 7.804 MMT in 2015/16

CORN

- Jan 10 - Iran's SLAL has postponed an international tender to buy 180,000 MT of barley from the EU, Australia, Ukraine and Russia; and 120,000 MT of corn from Brazil, Ukraine and Russia for shipment in February

- China has increased tariffs on imports of a US distillers' dried grains (DDGS) from levels first proposed last year. Anti-dumping duties will range from 42.2% to 53.7%, up from 33.8% in its preliminary decision in September. Anti-subsidy tariffs will range from 11.2% to 12%, up from 10-10.7%

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier trimmed his forecast of South America's 2016/17 corn crop this week by 0.5 MMT to 124.8 MMT (97.2 MMT in 2015/16) due to decrease forecast for Argentina by 0.5 MMT to 34.5 MMT (27 MMT in 2015/16)

- FranceAgriMer kept its estimate of France's 2016/17 corn crop at 11.452 MMT vs. 13.059 MMT last year with the carryout projected at 2.286 MMT against 2.467 MMT in December and 2.463 MMT in 2015/16. France's 2016/17 corn export is forecasted at 5.13 MMT (5.105 MMT – previous forecast) vs. 6.328 MMT a year ago

- FranceAgriMer estimated France's 2016/17 barley crop at 10.113 MMT vs. 13.028 MMT last year with the carryout upped to 1.986 MMT from 1.914 MMT in Dec and against 1.28 MMT in 2015/16. France's 2016/17 barley exports (without malt) is expected at 4.485 MMT (4.545 MMT in December) down 41.6% from 7.686 MMT a year ago

- Cargill Inc reported a sharply higher adjusted quarterly profit led by strong results from its beef and turkey businesses in North America

SOYBEAN

- Jan 19 - South Korea's Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp seeks a total 60,000 MT of non-GM soybeans for arrival in Jan 20-Apr 20, 2018. Registration for the tenders will close on Jan 18 and the electronic bidding will be held on Jan 19. The agency did not make a purchase in its previous tender for 90,000 MT of GMO-free soybeans which closed on Dec 27

- Jan 10 - Argentina grants export licenses for 163,740 MT of soymeal and 21,384 MT of soybean oil

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier lowered his forecast of South America's 2016/17 soybean crop this week by 1 MMT to 173.2 MMT (165.5 MMT in 2015/16) due to decrease forecast for Argentina by 1 MMT to 55 MMT (56 MMT in 2015/16)
