- Dec 29 - Jordan Silos & Supply General Company has postponed a tender for up to 30,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat for Jan-Feb shipment from Dec 29 to Jan 5

- Dec 29 - Egypt's GASC bought 235,000 MT of wheat (175 TMT from Russia and 60 TMT from Ukraine) for February 1-10 delivery:

  • 60,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat from Louis Dreyfus at 197.20 $/mt c&f (187.00 $/mt fob+10.20 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from AOS/Friends at 197.35 $/mt c&f (186.25 $/mt fob+11.10 $/mt freight);
  • 55,000 MT of Russian wheat from Glencore at 197.40 $/mt c&f (187.15 $/mt fob+10.25 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from ADM at 197.95 $/mt c&f (186.85 $/mt fob+11.10 $/mt freight)

- Dec 29 - Argentina grants export licenses for 49,749 MT of milling wheat

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange raised its forecast of Argentine 2016/17 wheat crop to 15 MMT from 12.5 MMT week ago, up 45.6% from 2015/16 crop (10.3 MMT). The higher forecast was due to an increase in its estimate for wheat acreage to 4.7 million hectares, up from a previous estimate of 4.3 mln ha. Harvesting of Argentine wheat crop was 85.2% completed as of Dec 29

- Russia's Ag Min raised its estimate of Russia's 2016/17 grain export potential to 40 MMT

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Dec 22 totalled 582,500 MT, incl. 568,100 MT for 2016/17 (topped the trade expectations for 200-500 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 33% ahead of year-ago

CORN

- Dec 29 - Argentina grants export licenses for 12,000 MT of barley

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange kept its forecast for Argentine 2016/17 corn acreage at 4.9 mln ha (3.85 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 71.3% of the crop has been planted as of Dec 29

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange expects Argentine 2016/17 sorghum acreage at 800,000 ha, 6% decline from last year (850,000 ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 73.1% of the crop has been planted as of Dec 29

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Dec 22 of 1,004,800 MT, incl. 958,600 MT for 2016/17 (within trade expectations for 0.8-1.2 MMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 75% ahead of year-ago

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Dec 23 decreased by 8,000 barrels to 1,028,000 barrels per day, up 3.6% from last year's level of 992,000 bpd. Stocks fell by 377,000 barrels from the week prior to 18.683 million barrels and down 7.4% vs. 20.166 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Dec 29 - Argentina grants export licenses for 12,784 MT of soybean oil

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended Dec 22 of 979,200 MT, incl. 974,100 MT for 2016/17 (just below the low end of a range of trade estimates of 1.0-1.5 MMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 28% ahead of year-ago

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange expects Argentina's 2016/17 soybean acreage at 19.6 mln ha, down 2.5% from the previous crop year (20.1 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 84.1% of the crop has been planted as of Dec 29

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange estimates 4.9% of Argentine sunseed crop has been harvested as of Dec 29

- Argentina's soy oil production grew 8.5% to 8.01 MMT between January and November compared with the same period last year

- Argentina's sunflower oil production grew 3.2% to 1.077 MMT between January and November compared with the same period last year

- China's sunflower oil imports climbed to 805,790 MT in January-November period, up 48% from a year-ago level. Top suppliers included Ukraine (567,119 MT), Russia (129,119 MT) and Argentina (94,112 MT)
