WHEAT

- Dec 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 222,493 MT of milling wheat

- India's wheat stocks in April next year, when the new season begins, are likely to be at their lowest levels in more than a decade. But Indian government agencies not plan to import wheat at least in the near term

- India's farmers increased planting of winter crops by more than 6% from the same period last year, with wheat, pulses and rapeseed accounting for the lion's share of the growth in acreage

- Ukraine's Ag Min raised its 2016/17 grain export forecast to 41.6 MMT from 41.0 MMT previously

- Russian President Vladimir Putin today said that the country harvested in 2016 a record grain crop of 119 MMT

- European Commission (EC) raised its estimate for 2016 EU soft wheat crop to 134.145 MMT from 133.84 MMT last month, but it's well below record production of 151.324 MMT last year. EU's executive left its EU soft wheat exports estimate at 24.0 MMT in 2016/17, well below the 32.713 MMT in 2015/16. Soft wheat inventories in the region are forecasted at 10.04 MMT (9.26 MMT– previous estimate) by the end of June 2017, less than 15.811 MMT estimated for 2015/16

- Argentina's Ag Min raised 2016/17 wheat production estimate to 15.7 MMT from 14.9 MMT in November, up 38.9% from 11.3 MMT in 2015/16

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecasts Argentine 2016/17 wheat crop at 12.5 MMT, up 21.4% from 2015/16 crop (10.3 MMT). Harvesting of Argentine wheat crop was 72.9% completed as of Dec 22, ahead of last year's pace of 68.9%

CORN

- Dec 23 - USDA announced export sales of 110,800 MT of US corn for delivery to unknown destinations during 2016/17

- Argentina's Ag Min left its corn acreage forecast for the 2016/17 at 7.25 mln ha, up 5.1% from 6.9 mln ha in 2015/16

- Argentina's Ag Min lowered its barley production forecast for the 2016/17 to 3.25 MMT from 3.355 MMT in November, down 33.7% from 4.9 MMT in 2015/16

- Argentina's Ag Min estimates 2016/17 sorghum planting area at 850,000 ha, almost unchanged from last year

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange kept its forecast for Argentine 2016/17 corn acreage at 4.9 mln ha (3.85 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 63% of the crop has been planted as of Dec 22, behind last year's pace of 68.7%

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecasts Argentine 2016/17 barley crop at 3.15 MMT, down 26% from 2015/16 crop (4.25 MMT). Harvesting of Argentine barley crop was 32.3% completed as of Dec 22 vs. last year's pace of 40.3%

- Ukraine's Ag Min raised its 2016/17 corn export forecast to 18.5 MMT from 17.2 MMT previously

- EC increased its 2016 EU corn harvest estimate to 60.203 MMT from 59.07 MMT last month (58.997 MMT in 2015). Projected imports in new season were lowered from prior month by 1 MMT to 13 MMT (13.314 MMT in 2015/16). EC lowered its estimate for 2015/16 corn ending stocks to 18.508 from 18.55 MMT previously and upped expected stocks at the end of 2016/17 to 15.904 MMT from 15.81 MMT in November

- EC lowered its 2016 EU barley harvest estimate to 59.34 MMT from 59.45 MMT last month, down from 61.36 MMT in 2015. Projected exports in new season were unchanged from prior month at 7 MMT, halved from 14.2 MMT in 2015/16. EC decreased its forecast for 2016/17 barley ending stocks to 8.615 MMT from 8.82 MMT previously, but up vs. 5.548 MMT in 2015/16

SOYBEAN

- Dec 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 100,000 MT of soymeal

- Dec 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 23,900 MT of sunflower meal

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange expects Argentina's 2016/17 soybean acreage at 19.6 mln ha, down 2.5% from the previous crop year (20.1 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 75.8% of the crop has been planted as of Dec 22 vs. 81.8% this time last year

- Argentina's Ag Min increased 2016/17 soybean acreage forecast to 20.3 million hectares from 20.22 mln ha in November, down 0.9% from 20.6 mln ha in 2015/16

- Argentina's Ag Min kept 2016/17 sunseed acreage estimate at 1.7 million hectares (1.435 mln ha in 2015/16)

- EC increased its 2016 EU rapeseed harvest estimate to 19.872 MMT from 19.84 MMT in November, down 8.9% from 21.811 MMT in 2015

- EC kept its 2016 EU soybean harvest estimate at 2.491 MMT, up 6.5% from 2.338 MMT in 2015

- EC raised its 2016 EU sunflower crop estimate to 8.502 MMT from 8.18 MMT in November, up 7.9% from 7.882 MMT in 2015

- Dec 21 - China sold 99,975 MT of rapeseed oil produced in 2012 and 2013 from state reserves or 100% of the offered amount at auction at an average price of 7,044 RMB/mt (1014 $/mt). Since Oct 12, 2016, the accumulated traded quantity was 1,090,541 MT
