WHEAT

- Dec 19 - Jordan seeks up to 25,000 MT of optional origin hard milling wheat

- Dec 8 - Japan bought 123,354 MT of food wheat for Jan-Feb shipment:

  • 11,980 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 20,970 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 34,830 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 55,574 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat

- Philippine mills recently bought 50,000 MT of Australian wheat at about 202 $/mt, fob for January shipment

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported 19.173 MMT of grain between July 1-Dec 8, 2016, up 6.9% from 17.931 MMT for the same period last year, including:

  • wheat – 10.374 MMT (vs. 9.101 MMT a year ago)
  • barley – 4.001 MMT (3.724 MMT)
  • corn – 4.719 MMT (4.996 MMT)
  • others – 79 TMT (110 TMT)

- Sovecon said Russia could harvest 114 MMT of grain in 2017, including 70 MMT of wheat

- Coceral raised its estimate for EU's 2016 soft wheat crop to 134.7 MMT from 133.76 MMT previously, although this remained significantly lower than last year's record of 152.13 MMT

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecasts Argentine 2016/17 wheat crop at 12.5 MMT, up 21.4% from 2015/16 crop (10.3 MMT). Harvesting of Argentine wheat crop was 40.7% completed as of Dec 7, slightly behind of last year's pace of 40.9%

CORN

- Dec 8 - Taiwan's MFIG group bought 65,000 MT of US-origin corn at a premium of 119.5 USc/bushel c&f over the Chicago May 2017 contract (around 188.85 USD/mt, c&f) for Feb 23-Mar 29 shipment

- Dec 8 - Israeli group bought a total of 95,000 MT of optional origin corn, likely mostly from Black Sea region, at 178.5 $/mt c&f for Jan 1-Feb 20; 177.75 $/mt c&f for Feb 20-Mar 10 and 176.25 $/mt c&f for Mar 15-Apr 5 shipments

- Dec 8 - Israeli group bought 30,000 MT of optional origin feed barley, likely from Black Sea region, at 175 $/mt c&f for Feb 15-Mar 5 shipments

- Coceral raised its EU's 2016 corn production estimate to 60.71 MMT from 60.54 MMT in Sept and up 3.4% from 58.69 MMT in 2015

- Coceral upped slightly its estimate for EU's 2016 barley harvest to 59.23 MMT from 59.16 MMT in Sept but it is less than the 61.34 MMT last season

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange kept its forecast for Argentine 2016/17 corn acreage at 4.9 mln ha (3.85 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 48% of the crop has been planted as of Dec 7, behind last year's pace of 50.4%

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecasts Argentine 2016/17 barley crop at 3.15 MMT, down 26% from 2015/16 crop (4.25 MMT). Harvesting of Argentine barley crop was 14.6% completed as of Dec 7 vs. last year's pace of 8.5%

SOYBEAN

- Coceral lifted its estimate for EU's 2016 rapeseed harvest to 20.02 MMT from 19.94 MMT in Sept, but down 10.6% from 22.39 MMT in 2015

- Coceral maintained its projection for 2016 EU sunflower seed crop at 8.1 MMT, up 5.3% from 7.69 MMT in 2015

- Coceral trimmed its projection for 2016 EU soybean crop to 2.41 MMT from 2.43 MMT in Sept, up 16% from 2.08 MMT in 2015

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange expects Argentina's 2016/17 soybean acreage at 19.6 mln ha, down 2.5% from the previous crop year (20.1 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 57.6% of the crop has been planted as of Dec 7 vs. 68.6% this time last year

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange left its estimate Argentina's 2016/17 sunseed acreage at 1.7 mln ha (1.22 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 98.4% of the crop has been planted as of Dec 7 vs. 100% this time last year
