- India purchased in the past month about 500,000-600,000 MT of wheat, largely from Australia, mostly for November-December shipment. Indian private buyers are expected to import up to 3 MMT this year, the largest volume in a decade, with supplies coming from Australia, Ukraine and France

- Egypt has enough strategic wheat reserves to last for next four months

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Nov 24 totalled 490,500 MT, incl. 483,500 MT for 2016/17 (within the trade expectations for 300-500 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 31% ahead of year-ago

- European Commission (EC) trimmed its estimate for 2016 EU soft wheat crop to 133.84 MMT from 134.57 MMT last month, well below record production of 151.34 MMT last year. EU's executive lowered its EU soft wheat exports estimate to 24.0 MMT in 2016/17, down by 1 MMT from prior forecast, and well below the 32.71 MMT in 2015/16. Soft wheat inventories in the region are forecasted at 9.26 MMT (8.98 MMT– previous estimate) by the end of June 2017, less than 15.84 MMT estimated for 2015/16

- FranceAgriMer estimated winter wheat planting 99% done as of Nov 28, matching of last year's pace of 99%; crop condition is estimated as 94% in good to excellent, unchanged from the prior week and below the year-ago score of 97%. Also French farmers have planted 88% of durum as of Nov 28 vs. 96% at the same time a year ago; crop condition is estimated as 93% in good to excellent, down 1% point from the prior week and below the year-ago score of 97%.

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 1.083 MMT of wheat via port Varna between July 4-Nov 27, 2016/17, up 27.4% from a year-ago (850,260 MT)

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecasts Argentine 2016/17 wheat crop at 12.5 MMT, up 21.4% from 2015/16 crop (10.3 MMT). Harvesting of Argentine wheat crop was 28.9% completed as of Dec 1, behind of last year's pace of 31.3%

- Kazakhstan will likely export 9 MMT of grain this season, up by 500,000 MT from previous forecast. The country has harvested 21.5 MMT of grains in clean weight this year, up 2.8 MMT from the year prior

- Kazakh Ag Min said Kazakhstan exported 3.5 MMT of grain between July 1-November 30, 2016/17 vs. 3.169 MMT a year ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported 18.383 MMT of grain between July 1-Dec 1, 2016/17, including: wheat – 10.087 MMT; barley – 3.982 MMT; corn – 4.253 MMT; others – 61 TMT. Also was exported 132,400 MT of wheat flour

- Russian Grain Union called for lifting the ban on the planting of registered genetically modified grain in Russia

- Russia's southern Krasnodar region has imposed restrictions on the movement of live pigs in a bid to stop the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF). Rosselkhoznadzor proposed to quarantine the entire region. A quarantine in the region, which is a major grain exporter via its Black Sea ports, could limit the transportation of grain

- US agricultural commodities trader ADM Co has sold its 19.9% stake in GrainCorp Ltd to Swiss bank UBS

CORN

- Dec 2 - South Korea's Nonghyup Feed Inc (NOFI) seeks up to 276,000 MT of optional origin corn for Mar-Apr arrival

- Dec 2 - Tunisia bought 50,000 MT of feed barley in tow 25,000-MT consignments from Nidera at 178.94 $/mt c&f and from Bunge at 179.77 $/mt c&f for Jan 5-Feb 15 shipment

- Dec 1 - Argentina grants export licenses for 50,000 MT of corn

- EC decreased its 2016 EU barley harvest estimate to 59.45 MMT from 59.99 MMT last month, down from 61.43 MMT in 2015. Projected exports in new season were lowered by 1 MMT to 7 MMT, halved from 14.16 MMT in 2015/16. EC increased its forecast for 2016/17 barley ending stocks to 8.82 MMT from 8.37 MMT previously and vs. 5.66 MMT in 2015/16

- FranceAgriMer estimated France's corn condition as 53% in good to excellent as of Nov 28, unchanged from the prior week but below the year-ago score of 56%. French farmers harvested 99% of corn by Nov 28 (98% a week ago), in line with the harvest progress a year ago

- FranceAgriMer estimated France's winter barley condition as 92% in good to excellent, unchanged from the prior week but below the year-ago score of 97%

- Bulgarian farmers harvested 2.21 MMT of maize from 99.1% of the planned area as of Nov 24, up 5.9% from a year-ago

- Dec 2 - South Korea's Nonghyup Feed Inc (NOFI) seeks 55,000 MT of soymeal for May arrival

- Dec 1 - Argentina grants export licenses for 65,000 MT of soymeal

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended Nov 24 of 1,465,000 MT, incl. 1,399,000 MT for 2016/17 (at the high end of a range of trade estimates of 1.0-1.4 MMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 27% ahead of year-ago

- USDA estimated US October soybean crush for crude oil at 5.276 million short tons (175.9 mln bu), above the average market expectation (5.262 mln tons, or 175.4 mln bu) and up from 5.104 mln tons a year ago. Crude soyoil stocks rose to 1.437 billion lbs as of October 31 from 1.417 in September, but below the 1.57 bln lbs a year ago, while refined oil stocks were at 357,828 million lbs as of Oct 31 vs. 269,413 in Sept and 370,508 in Oct 2015. - FCStone raised its forecast for Brazil's 2016/17 soy crop to 102.1 MMT from 101.8 MMT last month
