- Nov 8 - Egypt's GASC bought 240,000 MT of Russian and Romanian wheat for December 10-20 delivery:

  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from ECTP at 197.28 $/mt c&f (186.98 $/mt fob+10.30 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat from Nidera at 199.62 $/mt c&f (191.19 $/mt fob+8.43 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Aston at 200.17 $/mt c&f (189.87 $/mt fob+10.30 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Daewoo at 200.17 $/mt c&f (189.87 $/mt fob+10.30 $/mt freight)

- Nov 9 - Russia bought 32,400 MT of intervention grain (31,050 MT of wheat and 1,350 MT of barley) via tender on the NTB (National Trade Exchange, Moscow Exchange). Making the total bought since Sep 19 at 686,610 MT of 2016/17 grain (641,655 MT of wheat and 44,955 MT of barley)

- Russian farmers harvested 75.81 MMT of wheat from 98.1% of the planned area as of Nov 8, up from 63.89 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.79 mt/ha up from 2.51 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers have planted 17.14 million hectares (98.8% of the planned area) of winter crops as of Nov 8 vs. 15.83 mln ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted 5.836 million hectares of winter wheat (94.2% of plan) as of Nov 8 up from 5.573 mln ha a year ago

- AHDB (Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board) expects UK's wheat sowing area for the 2017 harvest at 1.8 million hectares, down 1% from the prior season

- French soft wheat exports outside the EU fell sharply in September, to the lowest level for the month in nine years. France shipped about 737 TMT of soft wheat abroad in September, the third month of the 2016/17 marketing season, less than the 913 TMT exported in August. France exported 348 TMT of soft wheat outside the EU in September (incl. 139 TMT to Algeria and 73 TMT to the US), with Jul-Sept 2016/17 France's soft wheat shipments outside the EU at 1.54 MMT, down 27% on the year-earlier period. Total French soft wheat exports, including shipments within the EU, so far this season were down 28% at 2.73 MMT (3.81 MMT in Jul-Sept 2015/16)

- France imported 106 TMT of wheat in September, slightly down from 115 TMT in August, including 33 TMT from Bulgaria and 30 TMT from UK. French Jul-Sept 2016/17 wheat imports totalled 243 TMT, up 31% on the year-earlier period

CORN

- Nov 8 - Argentina grants export licenses for 21,088 MT of corn

- Nov 8 - Argentina grants export licenses for 20,000 MT of barley and 7,700 MT of malt

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier raised his forecast of South America's 2016/17 corn crop this week by 3 MMT to 125.3 MMT (97.2 MMT in 2015/16) due to increase forecast for Brazil by 3 MMT to 86 MMT (66 MMT in 2015/16)

- Zambia has started exporting 100,000 MT of white maize to Malawi under an arrangement between the two countries and may lift a ban on private-sector exports in January 2017. Zambia may allow grain traders to resume corn exports after buying an additional 220,000 MT for strategic reserves. Zambia's Food Reserve Agency (FRA) is currently holding 280,000 MT of maize and the private sector has 794,785 MT

- AHDB forecasts UK's winter barley area at 397,000 hectares, down 9% from a year ago, with spring barley sowing seen 17% higher at 799,000 hectares

- France exported only 73 TMT of barley outside the EU in September (incl. 26 TMT to Tunisia and 25 TMT to Morocco). A further 191 TMT were exported within the EU in September, bringing total French barley exports in the first three months of the season to 1.27 MMT (incl. 625 TMT to non-EU), down 50% on the year-earlier period (2.55 MMT, incl. 1.94 MMT to non-EU in Jul-Sept 2015/16)

- French maize exports in Jul-Sept, which are mostly within the EU, declined by 14% to 1.35 MT (1.57 MMT in Jul-Sept 2015)

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 18.186 MMT of maize from 70.7% of the planned area as of Nov 8, down from 19.842 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 6.07 mt/ha up from 5.47 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted 851,000 hectares of winter barley (82.8% of plan) as of Nov 8 vs. 844,600 ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 19.06 MMT of barley from 97% of the planned area as of Nov 8, up from 18.26 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.35 mt/ha up from 2.23 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 10.48 MMT of maize from 64.3% of the planned area as of Nov 8, down from 11.46 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 5.64 mt/ha up from 5.14 mt/ha a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Nov 8 - USDA announced export sales of 116,100 MT of US soymeal for delivery to Dominican Republic during 2016/17

- Nov 8 - Argentina grants export licenses for 38,380 MT of soymeal and 15,000 MT of soybean oil

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier left his forecast of South America's 2016/17 soybean crop unchanged this week at 174.2 MMT compared to 165.5 MMT in 2015/16

- Safras & Mercado says Brazilian farmers forward sold 25% of the 2016/17 soybean crop (expected 103.5 MMT) versus 41% last year and vs. 5-year average pace of 30%

- AHDB says UK's rapeseed area for the 2017 harvest is forecast to fall to a 13-year low of 557,000 hectares, down 4% from the prior season

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 12.752 MMT of sunseed from 96.6% of the planned area as of Nov 8, up from 10.862 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.23 mt/ha up from 2.18 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 3.83 MMT of soybean from 92.3% of the planned area as of Nov 8, up from 3.641 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.26 mt/ha up from 1.76 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted 818,800 hectares of winter rapeseed (113.1% of plan) as of Nov 8 up from 606,800 ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 10.14 MMT of sunseed from 85.7% of the planned area as of Nov 8, up from 9.18 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.58 mt/ha up from 1.48 mt/ha a year ago
