WHEAT

- Oct 7 - South Korean mills (incl. Daehan Flour Mill Co Ltd) bought a total of 100,000 MT of wheat from Australia in two equal consignments:

  • The first consignment from CBH for shipment between Feb 15-28, 2017:
    • 45,350 MT of Australian standard white wheat (10.3-11% protein) at 206.5 $/mt fob;
    • 4,650 MT of Australian hard wheat (min 11.5% protein) at 218 $/mt fob.
  • The second consignment from Glencore for shipment between Mar 1-15, 2017:
    • 40,000 MT of Australian standard white wheat (10.3-11% protein) at 206.5 $/mt fob;
    • 5,200 MT of Australian hard wheat (min 11.5% protein) at 217.5 $/mt fob;
    • 4,800 MT of Australian premium wheat (min 10.5% protein) at 199 $/mt fob

- Oct 4 - Bahrain bought around 25,000 MT of wheat, 11.5-13.5% protein, likely from the Baltic Sea region, at just below 200 $/mt c&f for Dec shipment and arrival by Jan 14

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 10.402 MMT of grain between July 1-Oct 5, 2016/17, down by 4% from 10.819 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 8.596 MMT (8.364 MMT a year ago);
  • barley – 1.279 MMT (1.817 MMT);
  • corn – 479 TMT (566 TMT);
  • others – 49 TMT (72 TMT)

- Russia has 3,260,900 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of October 7

- France's farm ministry lowered its estimate of the country's 2016 soft wheat crop to 28.04 MMT from 28.24 MMT forecasted in September with yields lowered to 5.36 from 5.4 mt/ha earlier, down 31.5% from last year (40.91 MMT and 7.93 mt/ha in 2015) and 24.1% below the five-year average

- French soft wheat exports slowed in August while imports accelerated. France shipped about 913 TMT of soft wheat abroad in August, the second month of the 2016/17 marketing season, less than the 1.1 MMT exported in July. France exported 542 TMT of soft wheat outside the EU in August (incl. 205 TMT to Algeria, 74 TMT to the US and 57 TMT to Cote d'Ivoire), with Jul-Aug 2016/17 France's soft wheat shipments outside the EU at 1.19 MMT, down 17% on the year-earlier period. Total French soft wheat exports, including shipments within the EU, so far this season were down 20% at 2.0 MMT (2.51 MMT in Jul-Aug 2015/16)

- France imported 115 TMT of wheat in August, up from 22 TMT in July, including 71 TMT from Romania. French Jul-Aug 2016/17 wheat imports totalled 137 TMT, up 71% on the year-earlier period

- Kazakh Ag Min said Kazakhstan's grain crop may rise to 21.0-21.5 MMT by clean weight this year as the harvesting campaign neared its end, compared with 18.7 MMT in 2015. With harvesting 99% complete, Kazakhstan had a crop of 23.1 MMT by bunker weight

- China has procured 72.82 MMT of reserve wheat by September 25, up 12.2% (or 7.91 MMT) from last year

- Oct 12 - Egypt's GASC seeks at least 100,000 MT of white medium-grain rice for immediate shipment

CORN

- Oct 7 - Argentina grants export licenses for 45,784 MT of corn

- Oct 7 - Argentina grants export licenses for 16,588 MT of barley and 12,600 MT of malt

- Indonesia has expanded the list of Ukrainian products permitted for import. So besides of wheat were allowed imports of corn, barley, oats, rye, sorghum, soybeans, peas and other products

- Kenya has increased maize imports from Uganda to boost supply amid rising maize prices in the country

- France's farm ministry raised its estimate of the country's 2016 grain maize crop to 12.59 MMT from 12.54 MMT forecasted in September with yields upped to 8.51 from 8.5 mt/ha earlier, down 6.7% from last year (13.49 MMT and 8.61 mt/ha in 2015) and 18.3% below the five-year average

- French maize exports in Jul-Aug, which are mostly within the EU, declined by 12% to 921 TMT (1.05 MMT in Jul-Aug 2015)

- France's farm ministry lowered the country's 2016 barley production estimate to 10.02 MMT from 10.14 MMT in Sept, down 23.1% from last year (13.03 MMT in 2015) and 9.3% below five-year average. French winter barley crop is estimated at 7.85 MMT (7.86 MMT forecasted in Sept and 10 MMT in 2015), while spring crop at 2.17 MMT (2.28 MMT forecasted in Sept and 3.02 MMT in 2015)

- France exported 137 TMT of barley outside the EU in August (incl. 61 TMT to China). A further 154 TMT were exported within the EU in August, bringing total French barley exports in the first two months of the season to 1.0 MMT (incl. 552 TMT to non-EU), down 42% on the year-earlier period (1.73 MMT, incl. 1.32 MMT to non-EU in Jul-Aug 2015/16)

SOYBEAN

- Oct 7 - Argentina grants export licenses for 26,200 MT of soymeal and 12,953 MT of soybean oil

- AgRural reports Brazilian soybean crop was 11% planted as of Oct 6 vs. 5% a week ago and 8% a year ago

- China has procured 1.16 MMT of reserve rapeseed by September 25, down 23.2% (or 350,000 MT) from last year

- MPOB estimated Malaysian crude palm oil production in September at 1.715 MMT, behind average expectation of 1.77 MMT but slightly up from 1.7 MMT in August with end-stocks at 1.547 MMT up 5.7% on month and above the average market expectation of 1.51 MMT. Malaysian September palm oil exports fell to 1.451 MMT, down 20.4% on month and below the average expectation of 1.53 MMT

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's October 1-10 palm oil exports at 421,044 MT up 10.7% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's October 1-10 palm oil exports at 403,650 MT up 1.9% from a month ago

- France's farm ministry trimmed its forecast for 2016 French rapeseed output to 4.64 MMT from 4.65 MMT in Sept, down 12.5% from last year (5.3 MMT in 2015) and 10.8% below five-year average

- France's farm ministry lifted its estimate of the country's 2016 sunflower seed crop to 1.23 MMT from 1.22 MMT forecasted in Sept with yields upped to 2.11 from 2.09 mt/ha earlier, up 4.1% from last year (1.19 MMT and 1.92 mt/ha in 2015) but 20.9% below five-year average

- France's farm ministry estimates the country's 2016 soybean crop at 381 TMT with yields 2.71 mt/ha, up 14.1% from last year (334 TMT and 2.74 mt/ha in 2015) and 112.4% above five-year average

- Strategie Grains raised its 2016 EU rapeseed crop estimate to 20.2 MMT up 170,000 MT from previous but down 8.3% from the 2015 harvest (22.04 MMT)

- Strategie Grains raised its 2016 EU sunflower crop estimate to 8.31 MMT from previous estimate of 8.21 MMT, up 9.5% from the 2015 harvest (7.59 MMT)

- Strategie Grains kept its 2016 EU soybean crop forecast at 2.3 MMT, up 0.7% on year (2.28 MMT in 2015)

- Soybean Processors Association of India said that country's soybean production is likely to rise 57% in 2016 from a year ago to 10.88 MMT

- India's oilmeal exports fell 35% from a year ago to 90,90 MT in September (139,649 MT in Sept 2015). India's export of oilmeals during April-Sept 2016/17 dropped 44% to 421,741 MT compared to 749,397 MT during the same period of last year
