WHEAT

- Oct 4 - Egypt's GASC bought 240,000 MT of Russian wheat for Nov 1-10 shipment:

  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Union at 186.32 $/mt c&f (177.77 $/mt fob+8.55 $/mt freight);
  • 120,000 MT of Russian wheat from ADM at 187.50 $/mt c&f (178.95 $/mt fob+8.55 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Alegrow at 187.50 $/mt c&f (178.95 $/mt fob+8.55 $/mt freight)

- India have bought 2 cargos of Ukrainian wheat recently

- Oct 5 - Russia bought 48,195 MT of intervention grain (41,310 MT of wheat and 6,885 MT of barley) via tender on the NTB (National Trade Exchange, Moscow Exchange). Making the total bought since Sep 19 at 326,700 MT of 2016/17 grain (305,775 MT of wheat and 20,925 MT of barley)

- Russian farmers harvested 75.24 MMT of wheat from 97.2% of the planned area as of Oct 4, up from 61.64 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.79 mt/ha up from 2.56 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers have planted 11.79 million hectares (68% of the planned area) of winter crops as of October 4 vs. 12.41 mln ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted 3.648 million hectares of winter wheat (59% of plan) as of Oct 4 down from 3.992 mln ha a year ago

- Kazakh farmers harvested 22.61 MMT of all grains as of Oct 5, up from 16.02 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.51 mt/ha up from 1.24 mt/ha a year ago

- Egypt will look to import 500,000 MT of rice in order to boost strategic stocks and keep prices down

CORN

- Oct 5 - Japan bought 29,140 MT of feed grain (16,540 MT of barley and 12,600 MT of wheat) for February 28 arrival via SBS-tender. New SBS tender for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley will be held on Oct 12

- Oct 4 - USDA announced export sales of 100,000 MT of US corn to unknown destinations for delivery during 2016/17

- Oct 4 - Argentina grants export licenses for 30,458 MT of corn

- Brazil's cereals exporters association Anec kept its estimate for 2016 corn exports at 20 MMT

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier raised his forecast of South America's 2016/17 corn crop this week by 1 MMT to 122.3 MMT (97.2 MMT in 2015/16) due to increase forecast for Brazil by 1 MMT to 83 MMT (66 MMT in 2015/16)

SOYBEAN

- Oct 4 - Argentina grants export licenses for 73,000 MT of soybeans and 1.231 MMT of soymeal

- Brazil's grain export association Anec cut its estimate for 2016 soybean exports to 52 MMT, down 5 MMT from its previous outlook. Anec said that soybean exports would edge up slightly in 2017 to 53 MMT

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier left his forecast of South America's 2016/17 soybean crop unchanged this week at 173.2 MMT compared to 165.5 MMT in 2015/16

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier raised his US soybean yield projection by 0.5 bpa from last week to 51.5 bpa, resulting in a 4.27-billion-bu crop (4.23 billion bu last week)

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 8.807 MMT of sunseed from 69% of the planned area as of Oct 4, up from 8.352 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.16 mt/ha up from 2.08 mt/ha a year ago
