- Oct 5 - Jordan seeks 100,000 MT of optional origin hard milling wheat

- Sept 29 - Japan bought 125,775 MT of food wheat for Oct-Nov shipment:

  • 26,400 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 28,355 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 29,950 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat

- Sept 29 - Argentina grants export licenses for 82,000 MT of wheat

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Sept 22 totalled 570,800 MT for 2016/17 (within trade expectations of 400-600 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 27% ahead of year-ago

- EU in week ended Sept 27 granted licenses to export 468 TMT of soft wheat, bringing the total this season to 6.355 MMT vs. 5.206 MMT a year ago

- French farmers started sowing of wheat with 1% of the crop seeded by Sept 26, below the 2% progress a year ago

- Sept 29 - Russia bought only 589 MT of intervention grain (all wheat) via tender on the Crimean Exchange. Making the total bought since Aug 19 at 41,339 MT of 2016/17 grain (38,909 MT of wheat and 2,430 MT of barley)

- Ukraine's Ag Min and traders have agreed to export 16.5 MMT of wheat in the 2016/17 July-June season, incl. 10.1 MMT of milling wheat and 6.4 MMT of feed wheat

- International Grains Council (IGC) raised its forecast for world wheat production in 2016/17 by 3.8 MMT to record high 747.0 MMT (736.3 MMT in 2015/16), reflecting upwardly revisions for crops in China, Kazakhstan, Australia and Canada more than offsetting reduction for the EU. Global wheat ending stocks were revised upwards by 2.4 MMT to 231.3 MMT (218.3 MMT in 2015/16)

CORN

- Sept 29 - South Korea's Major Feedmill Group (MFG) in a private deal purchased 69,000 MT of optional-origin yellow corn at 183 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for arrival around Jan 10, 2017

- Sept 29 - South Korea's KFA bought 120,000 MT of optional-origin yellow corn:

  • 60,000 MT at 183.99 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for arrival around Jan 20, 2017;
  • 60,000 MT at 184.99 $/mt c&f + 1.0 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for arrival around Feb 25, 2017

- Sept 29 - South Korea's Nonghyup Feed Inc. (NOFI) bought 134,000 MT of optional-origin yellow corn:

  • 65,000 MT from Concordia at 182.99 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for arrival around Jan 10, 2017;
  • 69,000 MT from Cargill at 183.77 $/mt c&f + 1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for arrival around Jan 25, 2017

- Sept 29 - Jordan made no purchase in an international tender for 100,000 MT of feed barley

- China has given approval to at least two companies (Cofco and Beidahuang) to export corn, aiming to cut its surplus

- Sept 29 - China sold 22,397 MT of 2014 corn from state reserves, or 2% of the offered amount (1,093,426 MT), at average price of 1,484 RMB/mt (222 $/mt)

- Sept 29 - Argentina grants export licenses for 101,766 MT of corn

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Sept 22 of 575,000 MT for 2016/17 (below trade expectations of 750-950 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 76% ahead of year-ago

- EU in week ended Sept 23 awarded licenses to import 500 MT of Ukrainian barley under an annual duty-free quota, bringing the total to 244,175 MT or 97.67% out of a total volume of 250,000 MT available in 2016

- EU in week ended Sept 27 awarded 70 TMT of corn (maize) import certificates, taking the volume so far this season to 1.943 MMT vs. 1.62 MMT a year ago

- French farmers started planting of barley with 1% of the crop seeded by Sept 26, below the 2% progress a year ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min and traders have agreed to export 5.6 MMT of barley in the 2016/17 July-June season

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange expects Argentina's 2016/17 corn acreage at 4.5 mln ha (3.6 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 21.5% of the crop has been planted as of Sept 29, ahead of last year's pace

- IGC lowered its forecast for world corn production in 2016/17 by 3.4 MMT to still record high 1,026.5 MMT (969.8 MMT in 2015/16), mainly reflecting downward revisions for China and the EU. IGC decreased its forecast for 2016/17 global corn carryover by 1.6 MMT from last month to 216.3 MMT (208.4 MMT in 2015/16)

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Sept 23 increased by 8,000 barrels to 989,000 barrels per day, up 4.9% from last year's level of 943,000 bpd. Stocks climbed by 562,000 barrels from the week prior to 20.578 million barrels, up 9.6% vs. 18.782 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Sept 30 - China sold 81,890 MT of soybean produced in 2012 and 2013 from state reserves, or 13.6% of the offered amount (601,038 MT) at an average price of 3,265 RMB/mt (489.5 $/mt). Since state reserve soybean sales began in China (July 15), 1.649 MMT of soybeans have been sold, or about 26.2% of the offered volume (6.298 MMT)

- Sept 29 - South Korea's Feed Leaders Committee (FLC) in a private deal purchased 55,000 MT of South American soymeal from Cargill at 368.90 $/mt c&f including surcharge for additional port unloading for arrival around Mar 20, 2017

- Sept 29 - South Korea's KFA bought 55,000 MT of South American soymeal at 369 $/mt c&f for Jan 15-Feb 3 shipment and arrival around Mar 15, 2017

- Sept 29 - South Korea's Nonghyup Feed Inc. (NOFI) bought 55,000 MT of South American soymeal from Concordia at 368.87 $/mt c&f + 1.5 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for arrival around Feb 10, 2017

- Sept 29 - Egypt's FIHC bought 67,000 MT of edible oils for November 10-30 arrival on an immediate payment basis:

  • 30,000 MT of soybean oil from ADM at 810.5 $/mt c&f;
  • 10,000 MT of sunflower oil from ADM at 791.5 $/mt c&f;
  • 15,000 MT of sunflower oil from Glencore at 788.5 $/mt c&f;
  • 12,000 MT of sunflower oil from Nidera at 788.5 $/mt c&f

- Sept 29 - USDA announced export sales of 120,000 MT of US soybeans to China for delivery during 2016/17

- Sept 29 - Argentina grants export licenses for 175,710 MT of soymeal

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended Sept 22 of 1,692,900 MT, incl. 1,692,800 MT for 2016/17 (topped trade expectations of 1.1-1.3 MMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 27% ahead of year-ago

- Abiove forecasts Brazil's 2017 soybean crop at 101.3 MMT and exports at 57.0 MMT

- IGC lifted its global 2016/17 soybean production forecast by 3.4 MMT to a record 328.8 MMT (314.8 MMT in 2015/16) mainly due to bigger crop in the US. Meanwhile IGC lowered global 2016/17 soybean carryover by 2.6 MMT from last month to 28.9 MMT (31.2 MMT in 2015/16)

- Argentine August soybean crush was reported at 3.72 MMT, down from revised of 3.97 MMT in July and down 12.8% from last year

- Argentine August sunflower crush was reported at 229,743 MT, down from revised of 222,617 MT in July and down 13.4% from last year

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange expects Argentina's 2016/17 sunseed acreage at 1.6 mln ha (1.22 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 30.9% of the crop has been planted as of Sept 29 vs. 24.2% this time last year

- FranceAgriMer estimated France's 2016/17 rapeseed crop at 4.657 MMT vs. 5.307 MMT in 2015/16 with the carryout expected at 44 TMT against 141 TMT at the end of 2015/16. France's 2016/17 rapeseed exports are forecasted at 1.27 MMT vs. 1.511 MMT year ago and imports at 1.3 MMT (1.19 MMT in 2015/16)
