  • 25,000 MT from Cargill at 182.75 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT from Casillo Commodities at 182.78 $/mt c&f

- Sept 28 - Tunisia bought 50,000 MT of optional origin durum wheat for shipment between Jan 15-Feb 15:

  • 25,000 MT from Glencore at 287.19 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT from Casillo at 287.38 $/mt c&f

- Sept 28 - Jordan made no purchase in an international tender for 100,000 MT of optional origin hard milling wheat

- Sept 27 - Argentina grants export licenses for 69,550 MT of wheat

- Sept 28 - Russia bought 61,020 MT of intervention grain (56,025 MT of wheat and 4,995 MT of barley) via tender on the NTB (National Trade Exchange, Moscow Exchange). Making the total bought since Sep 19 at 219,780 MT of 2016/17 grain (212,625 MT of wheat and 7,155 MT of barley)

- Russian farmers harvested 74.56 MMT of wheat from 95.7% of the planned area as of Sept 28, up from 60.27 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.81 mt/ha up from 2.57 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers have planted 11.1 million hectares (64% of the planned area) of winter crops as of September 28 vs. 11.15 mln ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted 2.281 million hectares of winter wheat (37% of plan) as of Sept 27 down from 2.828 mln ha a year ago

- Kazakh farmers harvested 21.36 MMT of all grains as of Sept 28, up from 13.15 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.5 mt/ha up from 1.19 mt/ha a year ago

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) raised its winter wheat production forecast for this year to 1.7 MMT from 1.683 MMT in prior month, up 18% over the previous season's crop of 1.44 MMT. The area estimate for wheat was raised to 508,150 hectares from 498,150 ha previously, up 5.4% over last year's acreage

- Sept 28 - China auctioned 11,792 MT of 2013 imported US #2 soft red winter wheat from state reserves, or 37.3% of the offered amount (31,647 MT), at an average price of 2,543 RMB/mt (381 $/mt)

- Sept 27 - China sold only 328 MT of wheat (mixed) from state reserves or only 0.01% of the offered amount (2,502,881 MT) at auction at price of 2,460 RMB/mt (369 $/mt)

CORN

- Sept 28 - Tunisia bought 25,000 MT of barley from Cofco at 167 $/mt c&f for Nov 25-Dec 15 shipment

- Sept 28 - South Korea's KOCPIA bought 55,000 MT of US yellow corn at 191.3 $/mt c&f including surcharge for additional port unloading for Jan 10 arrival

- Sept 28 - USDA announced export sales of 1,577,340 MT of US corn to Mexico for delivery during 2016/17 (1,036,320 MT) and 2017/18 (541,020 MT)

- Sept 28 - Japan received no offers for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley in a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction. New SBS tender for the same amounts for each grain will be held on Oct 5

- Sept 28 - China sold 65,883 MT of 2014 corn from state reserves, or 5.8% of the offered amount (1,129,135 MT), at average price of 1,565 RMB/mt (235 $/mt)

- China will impose anti-subsidy duties of 10%-10.7% on imports of US distillers' dried grains (DDGS)

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier left his projection for US 2016 corn crop unchanged from prior week at 14.87-billion bu

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier forecasts that South America will harvest 121.3 MMT of corn in 2016/17, 25% more compared to year-ago (97.2 MMT), incl.:

  • Brazil – 82 MMT (66 MMT in 2015/16);
  • Argentina – 35 MMT (27 MMT);
  • Paraguay – 3.2 MMT (3.1 MMT)

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) raised its estimate of corn output this year to 7.537 MMT from 7.297 MMT last month. It would be 24.3% less than last year (9.955 MMT in 2015), but above average market expectations of 7.3 MMT

- CEC cut its estimate of S. Africa's 2016 sorghum crop to 74,150 MT from 82,000 MT last month (120,500 MT in 2015)

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 3.626 MMT of maize from 17% of the planned area as of Sept 27, up from 3.302 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 5.0 mt/ha up from 4.49 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 18.67 MMT of barley from 95.4% of the planned area as of Sept 28, up from 17.27 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.34 mt/ha up from 2.27 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 3.19 MMT of maize from 21.2% of the planned area as of Sept 28, down from 4.19 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 5.21 mt/ha up from 5.03 mt/ha a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Sept 28 - USDA announced export sales of 344,171 MT of soybeans for delivery during 2016/17:

  • 133,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China;
  • 211,171 MT of US soybeans for delivery to unknown destinations

- Sept 27 - USDA announced export sales of 120,000 MT of US soybeans to China for delivery during 2016/17

- Sept 27 - Argentina grants export licenses for 12,010 MT of soybean oil; 7,908 MT of soymeal and 8,100 MT of sunflower meal

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier raised his US soybean yield projection by 0.5 bpa from last week to 51.0 bpa, resulting in a 4.23-billion-bu crop (4.19 billion bu last week)

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier forecasts that South America will harvest 173.2 MMT of soybean in 2016/17, up 5% compared to year-ago (165.5 MMT), incl.:

  • Brazil – 100 MMT (95.5 MMT in 2015/16);
  • Argentina – 58 MMT (56 MMT);
  • Paraguay – 9.1 MMT (9.0 MMT)
  • Bolivia – 3.1 MMT (3.0 MMT)

- CEC raised its estimate of S. Africa's 2016 sunflower crop to 755,000 MT from 742,750 MT previous (663,000 MT in 2015)

- CEC lowered its estimate of S. Africa's 2016 soybean crop to 741,550 MT from 750,250 MT previous (1.07 MMT in 2015)

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 7.138 MMT of sunseed from 56% of the planned area as of Sept 27, up from 6.619 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.14 mt/ha up from 2.05 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 1.845 MMT of soybean from 47% of the planned area as of Sept 27, up from 1.693 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.12 mt/ha up from 1.72 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted 693,000 hectares of winter rapeseed (96% of plan) as of Sept 27 up from 557,500 ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 3.01 MMT of sunseed from 21.3% of the planned area as of Sept 28, down from 4.31 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.89 mt/ha up from 1.76 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 1.09 MMT of soybean from 25.6% of the planned area as of Sept 28, down from 1.18 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.95 mt/ha up from 1.62 mt/ha a year ago
