WHEAT

- Sept 22 - Egypt's GASC bought 240,000 MT of Russian wheat for October 21-31 shipment:

  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Aston at 186.8 $/mt c&f (179 $/mt fob+7.8 $/mt freight);
  • 180,000 MT (3x60 TMT) of Russian wheat from Union at 187.11 $/mt c&f (178.78 $/mt fob+8.33 $/mt freight)

- Sept 21 - Morocco's ONICL bought 310,000 MT of EU soft wheat for arrival by Dec 31 under a preferential tariff agreement, while it had received no offers to buy 45,000 MT of EU durum

- India's traders have booked close to 150,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat since the beginning of last week for shipment mainly in October at about 192-193 $/mt c&f. Since June, India has purchased about 700,000 MT from Australia, and deals signed with Ukraine have reached close to 350,000 to 400,000 MT. Traders expect the country to buy close to 5 MMT in 2016/17

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Sept 15 totalled 561,000 MT for 2016/17 (topped trade expectations of 300-500 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 23% ahead of year-ago

- EU in week ended Sept 20 granted licenses to export 452 TMT of soft wheat, bringing the total this season to 5.886 MMT vs. 4.75 MMT a year ago

- French wheat imports may increase to 0.7-1.0 MMT in 2016/17 from 433,000 MT in 2015/16

- Russia lowered to zero its wheat export duty from Sept 23

- Russia's Ag Min sees Russia's 2016 grain crop at 118-120 MMT in bunker weight; and wheat crop at 71 MMT in clear weight

- Russian farmers harvested 72.96 MMT of wheat from 91.9% of the planned area as of Sept 22, up from 58.57 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.87 mt/ha up from 2.62 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers have planted 10.25 million hectares (59.1% of the planned area) of winter crops as of September 22 up vs. 9.79 mln ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted 1.546 million hectares of winter wheat (25% of plan) as of Sept 22 down from 1.837 mln ha a year ago

- Kazakh farmers harvested 18.37 MMT of all grains as of Sept 23, up from 10.82 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.5 mt/ha up from 1.16 mt/ha a year ago

- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says that Iran has become self-sufficient in wheat and aims to export wheat in the coming months

- China has procured 70.87 MMT of reserve wheat by September 15, up 13.5% (or 8.41 MMT) from last year

- Sept 19 - South Korea's Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp bought a total of 60,405 MT of US brown rice from Philasun Co Ltd at 551.87-592 $/mt for Jan-Apr arrival

CORN

- Sept 23 - China sold 184,535 MT of 2014 corn from state reserves, or 18.3% of the offered amount (1,009,914 MT), at average price of 1,579 RMB/mt (237 $/mt)

- Sept 23 - China sold 42,812 MT of 2013 corn from state reserves, or 1.8% of the offered amount (2,404,589 MT), at average price of 1,605 RMB/mt (241 $/mt)

- Sept 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 35,514 MT of corn

- Sept 22 - Jordan made no purchase in an international tender for 100,000 MT of feed barley

- Sept 23 - China slapped anti-dumping duties on US distillers' dried grains (DDGs) shipped by some of the biggest suppliers of the animal feed ingredient, including Louis Dreyfus and ADM. The duties of 33.8% are effective immediately

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Sept 15 of 921,900 MT for 2016/17 (above trade expectations of 700-900 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 84% ahead of year-ago

- EU in week ended Sept 20 awarded 186 TMT of corn (maize) import certificates, taking the volume so far this season to 1.873 MMT vs. 1.54 MMT a year ago

- EU in week ended Sept 20 granted licenses to export 53 TMT of corn, bringing the total this season to 462 TMT vs. 423 TMT a year ago

- EU in week ended Sept 20 granted licenses to export 84 TMT of barley, bringing the total this season to 1.177 MMT vs. 3.301 MMT a year ago

- FranceAgriMer estimated France's corn condition as 54% in good to excellent as of Sept 19, unchanged from the prior week but below the year-ago score of 56%. French farmers started harvesting of corn with 1% of the crop cut by Sept 19, below the 3% harvest progress a year ago

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange expects Argentina's 2016/17 corn acreage at 4.5 mln ha (3.6 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 15.2% of the crop has been planted as of Sept 22

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 2.505 MMT of maize from 12% of the planned area as of Sept 22, up from 1.936 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 4.79 mt/ha up from 4.38 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 18.44 MMT of barley from 93.7% of the planned area as of Sept 22, up from 16.87 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.36 mt/ha up from 2.28 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 2.71 MMT of maize from 17.7% of the planned area as of Sept 22, down from 3.17 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 5.28 mt/ha up from 5.06 mt/ha a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Sept 23 - China sold 166,466 MT of soybean produced in 2012 and 2013 from state reserves, or 27.7% of the offered amount (601,205 MT) at an average price of 3,328 RMB/mt (499 $/mt). Since state reserve soybean sales began in China (July 15), 1.567 MMT of soybeans have been sold, or about 27.5% of the offered volume (5.697 MMT)

- Sept 22 - USDA announced export sales of 391,000 MT of soybeans for delivery during 2016/17:

  • 120,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China;
  • 120,000 MT of optional-origin soybeans for delivery to China;
  • 151,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to unknown destinations

- Sept 22 - Egypt's FIHC bought 50,000 MT of edible oils for November 1-20 arrival on an immediate payment basis:

  • 30,000 MT of soybean oil from ADM at 813 $/mt c&f;
  • 20,000 MT of sunflower oil from Noble (Cofco) at 804 $/mt c&f

- Sept 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 10,500 MT of soymeal

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended Sept 15 of 875,700 MT for 2016/17 (below trade expectations of 0.9-1.2 MMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 35% ahead of year-ago

- Canada and China have agreed on a long-term solution to a trade dispute over canola sales. The maximum level of dockage China accepts will continue to be 2.5% of a shipment during the time of the agreement (the agreement runs until 2020). China had intended to lower the maximum to 1%

- China has procured 1.16 MMT of reserve rapeseed by September 15, down 23.2% (or 350,000 MT) from last year

- Buenos Aires Grain Exchange expects Argentina's 2016/17 sunseed acreage at 1.6 mln ha (1.22 mln ha in 2015/16). Exchange estimates 30% of the crop has been planted as of Sept 22 vs. 23.1% this time last year

- India's summer-sown grain crop is forecast to rise 8.9% from last year to a record 135.03 MMT. Farm ministry forecasts rice production at 93.88 MMT, corn crop at 19.30 MMT, soybean production at 14.22 MMT and pulses at 8.70 MMT

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 6.057 MMT of sunseed from 48% of the planned area as of Sept 22, up from 4.847 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.14 mt/ha up from 2.03 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 1.547 MMT of soybean from 40% of the planned area as of Sept 22, up from 1.276 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.11 mt/ha up from 1.71 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted 668,300 hectares of winter rapeseed (92% of plan) as of Sept 22 up from 547,200 ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 2.47 MMT of sunseed from 16% of the planned area as of Sept 22, down from 2.66 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.06 mt/ha up from 1.9 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 971,600 MT of soybean from 22.8% of the planned area as of Sept 22, down from 982,200 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.95 mt/ha up from 1.64 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 819,400 MT of rapeseed from 63.5% of the planned area as of Sept 22, up from 743,000 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.3 mt/ha down from 1.47 mt/ha a year ago
