WHEAT

- Sept 21 - USDA announced export sales of 145,000 MT of US hard red winter wheat for delivery to Morocco during 2016/17

- Sept 21 - China auctioned 10,787 MT of 2013 imported US #2 soft red winter wheat from state reserves, or 29.1% of the offered amount (37,105 MT), at an average price of 2,524 RMB/mt (378 $/mt)

- Statistics Canada raised its 2016 crop estimates for spring wheat to 20.6 MMT from 20.2 MMT in August and up 3.9% from 2015; for durum to 7.3 MMT from 6.8 MMT last month and up 35.7% from 2015

- Sept 21 - Russia bought 83,430 MT of intervention wheat via second in 2016/17 tender on the NTB (National Trade Exchange, Moscow Exchange). Making the total bought since Sep 19 at 94,770 MT of MT of wheat

- SovEcon keeps Russia's 2016/17 wheat export estimate at 30.4 MMT

- Russia's Ag Min lowered range of 2016 grain crop estimate to 110-116 MMT from 113-116 MMT earlier. Expects this season's grain exports at 35-40 MMT

- Russian farmers harvested 72.36 MMT of wheat from 90.5% of the planned area as of Sept 20, up from 57.51 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.89 mt/ha up from 2.65 mt/ha a year ago

CORN

- Sept 21 - USDA announced export sales of 116,000 MT of US grain sorghum for delivery to unknown destinations during 2016/17

- Sept 21 - China sold 203,371 MT of 2014 corn from state reserves, or 20% of the offered amount (1,015,173 MT), at average price of 1,556 RMB/mt (233 $/mt)

- Sept 20 - Argentina grants export licenses for 61,645 MT of corn

- Sept 20 - Argentina grants export licenses for 19,000 MT of barley

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier left his projection for US 2016 corn crop unchanged from prior week at 14.87-billion bu

- Statistics Canada raised its 2016 crop estimate for corn for grain to 13 MMT from 12.3 MMT in August but down 2.9% from 2015; and lowered estimates for barley to 8.4 MMT from 8.7 MMT last month but up 4.4% from 2015 and oats to 2.9 MMT (vs. 3 MMT in Aug and down 13.4% from 2015)

- ABARES increased its forecast of 2016/17 Australian barley export to 6.94 MMT from previous estimate of 5.38 MMT in June and above last year's level of 5.5 MMT

- ABARES lowered its forecast of 2016/17 Australian sorghum export to 826,000 MT from previous estimate of 928,000 MT in June and down from 1,075,000 MT in 2015/16

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 2.062 MMT of maize from 10% of the planned area as of Sept 20, up from 1.702 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 4.63 mt/ha up from 4.4 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 18.35 MMT of barley from 93.1% of the planned area as of Sept 20, up from 16.64 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.36 mt/ha up from 2.29 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 2.54 MMT of maize from 16.5% of the planned area as of Sept 20, down from 2.57 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 5.31 mt/ha up from 5.06 mt/ha a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Sept 21 - USDA announced export sales of 364,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery during 2016/17:

  • 120,000 MT for delivery to China;
  • 118,000 MT for delivery to Taiwan;
  • 126,000 MT for delivery to unknown destinations

- Sept 20 - USDA announced export sales of 110,000 MT of US soybeans to China for delivery during 2016/17

- Sept 20 - Argentina grants export licenses for 154,606 MT of soybean oil
